Here’s a question - ND talks about 4 for 40 - what does their football alum professional services platform look like? They should have a dedicated department to supporting football players in life after football. It seems like a lot of what exists today is window dressing. ND could absolutely lead in this space - networking, job training, coaching, placement services. You can’t say 4 for 40, pay nothing up front, and then allow your football players to be wayward professionals when football days are over. Opportunity here to differentiate

Loy says the in home visit today is still on. Lollzzzzzzzz
I would have more respect for the kid and the family if they gave Freeman and staff a chance face to face and told them we're no longer coming to ND. Would still be a kick in the nuts, but at least have the balls to man up and tell these guys face to face you're not going to end up at ND.

Time to start focusing on recruiting kids in the 100-300 range. Thankfully, this staff will be able to land more of those kids than Kelly did. Just need to hope that the evaluations are good.
Don’t think you ever stop recruiting the elite players. Remember, good players make good plays… elite players make great plays.

If it's getting invested like a foundation, then $30m in principal is only producing $1.5-2 million per year max, which isn't enough to finance even one of these alleged top-shelf P4P deals. So for that $30m "war chest" to mean anything, you've got to have boosters on board with donating that every year just for the purpose of buying recruits. If true, that's batshit insane. Even the most established and deserving charities struggle to raise $30m/ year for worthy causes.

It in part is just a circle of lies and probably a few prospects catch a sucker. Prospects lie about an offer from one school to get more from another. Collectives don’t end up paying. Money is all in crypto at FTX. Around we go.

I don't think it's the new norm, because it's obviously unsustainable. Much of this is happening in the dark, so we have no way to verify what's actually going on, and it's already blowing up in aTm's face, which is the school that it adopted this tactic earliest and most aggressively.

I don't look at the Aggies and say to myself, "Now here's the future of CFB."
I certainly don't either but supply and demand.

Demand for highly talented kids isn't going away anytime soon and there's only so many a year to spread across those willing to play the game.

This is the stuff recruiting lore is built on. Freeman is the chosen one. This is his moment.

EDIT: Prayer thread or nah?

At some point the music stops and recruits have to wise up, right? As the number of players who chased up front cash and got burned grows, there will be exposes and articles written about it that we can point to as cautionary tales. "Everyone who plays for ND and shows out not only gets an Ivy-class education and elite development, but they all get paid top-tier NIL which is legal and verifiable. You don't want to end up like 5-star John Doe from the Class of 2020, do you? He bought into the lies about P4P, and he's now at his 3rd school in 4 years."

Separately - NIL thing is 100% going to be tampered down and I think the Charlie Baker hire will help accelerate that. ND has to get more aggressive in the meantime - don’t need to pay up front, but they should be pulling every other lever they possibly can.
I think the NCAA knew they haven’t been able to enforce any rules and they mostly punished those on the honor system. I think they gave up the policing and really have no interest in trying. These power teams will have to break away from the NCAA and form their own rules for anything to ever been done. A lot of people have been saying NIL$ Isn’t anything new, the only thing new is that it’s now in the open.

We just lost out on one player looking for a payday. Got another commit shopping around for his payday. Got two more highly rated recruits apparently being offered their paydays. In the end we will get one of the four to sign. If Bowen is looking for his payday then I hope he finds it. And I hope he remembers that immediate paydays don’t always outweigh the future paydays.

Can we wait 4 years for the lessons learned?

So let's get a recap of the past 24 hours:

- Driskell dishes some inside intel on an NIL bidding war for Bowen, complete with specific numbers
- One of the douchey fan-run social media accounts that steals premium info passed that off as "insider info" on Instagram
- Bowen gets mad at ND because the report came from the ND side
- Driskell is mad at his subscribers for stealing his inside info
- Everyone is mad at Driskell, as his info made the Bowens mad, and now he has ruined any chance ND had at closing
- We don't know if Driskell is right or wrong
- We *do* know that social media accounts that pass off premium info as their own "sources" are SUPER douchey
- Loy says the in-home visit is off, after convos with both the OU staff and MFMF
- Loy says Loy is wrong, and the in-home visit is still on

This is why you sign up for an internet message board. Soap opera for men who are bored at work, and entertainment for teenagers that have nothing better to do. This is the good stuff.

College football is the most worthy of charities in the south.
