I mean at this point vizzina will be here in a week and Dante still has a southern visit swing to complete.

Do we really think that Dante's cancelling all that and shutting down shop Saturday if Vizzina wants in?

I think it's far more likely Vizzina pops and we call it a wrap.
I would think that if Vizzina says he wants onboard the train, the staff will call Moore and say we'd love to have you, but we need an answer now.

Unless we hear about Vizzina cancelling his visit before the weekend, I'm going to bet on him being the QB in this class for us as well. Honestly, the way last year went, I just want one in the fold sooner than later. I like both of them well enough that I wouldn't be mad with either one of them committing.
This is a really good point, however I am going into this cycle with the understanding that this new staff is going to approach things far differently than it did last year. That starts with Marcus Freeman, of course.

Does anyone actually envision Freeman pressing pause on Vizzina if he were to try to commit?

Vizzina: "Coach, I love everything about ND and can really picture great things happening here. Me and my family have talked and prayed about this and I'm excited to tell you...

Freeman: "Hold that thought ..... I got to make a call"

My thing is that no one real seems to think ND leads with Viz. I believe he’s got a Clemson trip planned as well.

I think you're right. Freeman wants to recruit dudes on the field who he can convince that they are ND-capable. Vizzina has both the athletic talent to excel and if he actually wants to be here and doesn't need to be convinced, that's a healthy take. Moore is an incredible QB prospect, but it's not like Vizzina is a schlub either. I'd be happy with either.

Ha! That was my thinking about all this talk as well.

"Chris, thanks for coming up here on your dime. Hopefully this other kid gets back to me soon so I can give you an answer. But you yourself being a kid, you know how it is, hopefully Dante remembers to read my message and respond. But if he says yes, then thanks and good luck to you. I should have an answer for you in the next 5 minutes...or 15 days though. So we'll be in touch."

I am curious. Why does everyone assume that Vizzina is on commit watch? Could he just be coming to campus to visit and maybe make ND the leader, at this point? Are M'Pemba and Ausberry on commit watch the weekend that they come? It seems like we assume that, because he is visiting, he must be ready to commit, but we don't seem to think that about Moore visiting some of these other schools and him committing to them? Not trying to provoke something, just curious why everyone assumes that him visiting is going to result in this drama about who the QB is.

I don’t think the likeliest of scenarios is he commits on the spot/soon after his visit but it’s at least in the realm of possibility due to him A) wanting to decide soon and B) ND already being second at worst.

Agreed. You got two top quarterbacks that probably have ND in their top 2. The impression that I'm getting is that both would like to take their time but both are feeling a little pressure to move things along because of the strong interest of each other. The Vizzina visit just ups the ante a little more. In theory either of them could pop, if they wanted to secure their spot and were concerned that the other could commit.

I know Dante is a good student (obviously) but how is MLK? Good/bad school, good/bad area? I don't know Detroit AT ALL, other then the bad stuff you see/hear. From the film, they seem to have some dudes, any other guys that we could/may offer that could help?

right which is why the conversation needs to be more - hey listen ive told this kid he has the greenlight to commit just like you. you are priority #1 and still have first right of refusal but thats gone once/after hes on campus.

Dante knows the timeline then.

Anyone know timeline of Vizz/Clemson visit?

Sorry if already discussed but is this a fair breakdown:
-Moore is better overall passer, elite intangibles and average athlete.

-Viz has a bigger arm, better athlete and more potential/higher upside.

Just give me the guy that can get the ball down the field to his receivers and is good enough to evade pressure. Really not interested in another athlete with potential. Whoever that guy may be out of these two, sign him up.

Although I wouldn't envision it quite like that, you have a good point. I guess it depends on how badly they want Moore over Vizzina to know how they would handle that.

The game I saw he looked more than average IMO.

i dont know if real general labels should apply here. Do we have any statistical data to say who the better athlete is? I would say right now one (Vizz) has shown a greater ability/propensity to be a true dual threat.

None of us can say because we need full-field tape to see why a QB chose what he chose. If a QB takes off running but there were open receivers, it doesn't matter if it makes him look like a better athlete; he should've thrown the ball. If he takes off running when coverage is a blanket, then it's great and shows a true dual threat.

The problem is we often salivate at the guy who can run and throw but we don't know why he chose either. I trust the coaches on this one, both QBs would be great additions to this class.

If Vizzina wants in you take his commitment and call it a day, and then push hard for CJ CARR for next year. If Moore ends up going to Michigan then CARR most likely swings in our favor.

Sidenote:
Moore dropped bigtime in the new On3 ratings.
Overall, they are HORRIBLE.
The worst I’ve ever seen.
One guy, who was originally from the Bama site and loves himself some southeast recruits, did them by himself.
Some of his drops aren’t even fathomable with how good the recruits were this past year and how they shot up other rankings.

There were a few times I thought he'd light up a cig back there waiting for Fuller to get open.

Agree overall. I just prefer a QB whose tendency is to keep his eyes down the field/make plays with his arm rather than a guy who is going to tuck and run at the first sight of danger. All I really want here is MF to land a guy with Manning's intangibles, Marino's arm and Vicks's legs. That's all.

There's a real value in a guy like Book who can routinely pick up a first down on 3rd and 4 with his legs, and it was endlessly frustrating watching get Coan lightly jog out of the pocket like he had weights strapped to his cleats. All I really want here is MF to land a guy with Manning's intangibles, Marino's arm and Vicks's legs. That's all.
It's not too much to ask. ND gets guys on the reg with usually one of those traits. The only problem is that while they may possess one of Manning's intangibles, Marino's arm, or Vick's legs, they also possess at least one of: Charlie Sheen's decision making, Lamar Latrelle's arm strength, Rick Ankiel's accuracy, or Jabba the Hut's athleticism.

If this is a shot at Tommy Rees, it is SHOCKINGLY offensive... to Jabba. He slithers along at a pretty good clip compared to Tommy's historically statuesque mobility.

Some of you guys don't remember Tommy's designed QB draw TD from the 2012 Michigan game and it shows smh.
I've seen a lot of OT's catch TD passes. I've also seen OT's and DT's run for TD's. It doesn't mean they have the athleticism to be WR's or RB's though.
Whenever Brady or Manning scored a TD, people didn't gush over their athleticism.
Sometimes a good play call is just a good play call.

MF and Vizzina are going to do the dance. I bet he's just hoping to get him back for the spring game.
