My CB says Louisville
Don't think there's anything wrong with it at all if there's honesty involved. If they never made any promises about the number of backs they would take, then it's perfectly fair to tell Irvin at this point "hey we think we're gonna take 2 more backs this cycle. We'll honor your scholarship and you'll have the opportunity to come compete for a role, but candidly we have them higher on our board. You can come prove us wrong, but we understand if you want to reassess your options. We want you to make the best choice for you."I'm in the camp that I don't feel bad about this one bit, if ND feels like they have an upgrade for his spot. This is big time College Football. Kids change their mind all of the time. And elite recruiters upgrade. He will get a chance at another school and we will have a better prospect. You don't sign top 5 classes without having to pull some offers, if that's the case here.
Sinclair thinks we land Limar and Love
I think Love is top 10/12 RB in the countryI think I like this better than Irvin.... No offense to the kid
It's not justifying. It is what it is. Irvin personally didn't do anything, but in today's landscape (NIL and portal) the recruits are in basically the same position where they can dump a school at the drop of a hat. Where I would have been totally bummed about this a couple of years ago, I understand completely why the staff is doing it.I don’t think we have to stretch this to macro levels to try to justify. ND screwed Irvin here. They will get more talent for it. He’ll land on his feet, but he got screwed here. Is what it is. We’ll get screwed back by some kid too but it doesn’t have to be justified to just acknowledge what it is.
To provide reason for an choice or act is justification. Making it about the landscape of college football is going to macro levels to do so.It's not justifying. It is what it is. We all want that next NC and the only way to get it is have the talent up and down the roster. Not just the starters. It's the world we live in now. I wish him the best.
We screwed Irvin? By not giving him the only RB spot in the class? Or by telling him we were after more talent and we're looking to stockpile and let the best rise to the top?I don’t think we have to stretch this to macro levels to try to justify. It’s not whining. I certainly am not saying ND was required to keep him. But I don’t think we have to beat around the bush with it either. Irvin could have been visiting other places, talking to other schools this whole time. Having schools evaluate him. Build relationships. He by all accounts was firmly just with ND. Now he’s starting over. Sucks. Rhett doing the opposite sucked for us. Allowed to acknowledge both sidesWe screwed Irvin? By not giving him the only RB spot in the class? Stop this fucking whiny shit. ND is after the best and I really liked Irvin's tape, but I trust Freeman to not be dirty or underhanded. I'm near positive the coaches were open and honest and this is how it played out. BFD.
An explanation isn't always a justification. To provide reason for an choice or act is justification. Making it about the landscape of college football is going to macro levels to do so.
People are getting upset with you because there's an implication that our coaching staff was unethical in "recruiting over" Irvin. As long as it was clear he could keep his scholarship at ND for as long as her wanted to play for us, I see nothing wrong with it. It's virtually required to build a competitive roster these days. It’s not whining. I certainly am not saying ND was required to keep him. C’est la vie

Irvin could stay to fight for his spot and prove our current staff should have been higher on him. Or he can look for a program where he'll have less competition. He'll find a soft landing spot somewhere.
I don't feel any worse for him than the millions of players who busted their asses in high school and didn't manage to get a D1 offer. That's just football.
Dale - "ND screwed Irvin". Sure, that doesn't blatantly state ND was unethical and I'm sure you'll mince words and try to convince us that you only meant to say #words.Never said anything was unethical. I don’t think ND needs to be in the right in every scenario, and anyone upset with my description either wants that to be the case or is stretching the meaning behind my post.
Things are allowed to suck for a kid sometime. They suck for us sometimes. That’s really the only point. Not a larger or that serious of a commentary
As in Irvin will be good or recruits will be pissed?Feel bad for him. He did not get “processed” but being recruited over means he’s got to look out for his best interests. I think ND might end up regretting this.

Irvin will be good and/or we’ll only land one RB in the end in this class and wish we had two.As in Irvin will be good or recruits will be pissed?
