Based on Freeman’s public persona and the fact he is deemed the point person for every recruit, you would also have to think that he would make sure things were handled in an aboveboard and fair fashion behind closed doors. That doesn’t mean that someone doesn’t get their feelings hurt or some resentment may occur.

Unfortunately business is business, we've all heard the story of a kid decommiting because "after talking to my family I feel it is best for me to decommit...." and we eventually move on.

Like Rockin'Irish said above you can only hope that Freeman handled this professionally, was honest, and Irvin moves on.

ND wants to swing for the fence at the RB position-- can you fault them? For everything I've read on IE Limar is going to be Irish. With Love he could come in as an athlete and we let the cards play out after Young's visit.

For anyone who thinks ND is screwing over Irvin without any direct quotes or inside info. (Tweed24 had enough chances I think to spill the beans on a message board) needs a refresher course on recruiting 101.

Feel bad for him. He did not get “processed” but being recruited over means he’s got to look out for his best interests. I think ND might end up regretting this.
I agree. if he produces like his father...it was a mistake for Notre Dame.

I am very comfortable with Limar and Love being the two RB in this class.

I'll be even more comfortable with that come February if they have Moore at QB and a cast of star WR that are coming in with them because it is far more important.

When Freeman got the Job 7 months ago, he basically told Sedrick your commitment is still honored. Whether if coaches come or stays. We honor it. They calling sedrick 2-3 times a week, checking on him and making sure he still committed. The kid was loyal to ND even with the coaching change. They even told sedrick, we will recruit 1 more RB and we need you to help us recruit him and Sedrick did that with that kid from Washington. He even help recruit that OL that just committed. Sedrick even decline invited to other schools because he so loyal to ND.

Instead of Freeman saying, I do not know what's going to happen. I'm not sure if the new staff is going to honor your commitment or not. Just keep your options open and I do not know what's going to happen in the near future, But as now your commitment is honor. ND basically lead this kid on for 7 months, inviting him to Junior day, Spring game and etc. His parents are paying for, flights, hotels, rental cars and etc. They even had this kid to recruit other kids and stuff. To make matters worst, They didnt even call the kid to let him know he being dropped. They text his father and told him. My thing, you calling his kid 2-3 times a week to not giving him a respectful call to let him know. Freemajn just should of be Honest and up front 7 months ago.

The fans are sorry to see Sed go, regardless of the circumstances. We are all in once a player is on board, so when they leave it's a let down for all involved. Can you tell us, are you related to him or know him personally?

I can buy everything you said except them notifying Sedrick he's being dropped via a text to his Dad.

don't know who is telling the truth but heard on a podcast this week that the coaches had a one on one conversation with him about this or that is what they made it seem like

Maybe I’m just a perpetual optimist but the one on one conversation about the lay of the land as referenced by LaughingIrish above seems a lot more plausible than a text from the coaching staff to Sedrick’s father cutting ties.

I'm not trying to start rumors or point fingers, whatever the right term is, but is it possible that as we get closer to the end of the school year that some fears arose in regards to transcripts and qualifying? I mean we are talking about ND here and those issues have come up before. Again, please don't construe this as an attack on the young man.

What I believe happened is they told Sedrick they were bringing in other RB's to visit and he got turned off by that and they mutally parted ways. I don't believe that ND just dropped him especially when they don't currently have another RB in this class. Maybe they like Limar better and with the Transfer from IU coming in they felt comfortable taking only 1 RB in this class and trying to swing for the fences for a second.

People tend to like things to be substantiated, yea. No one knows who you are or why what you have said should be taken seriously.

So his Dad called him out of class to give him the news that ND just texted him (Dad) that he's been dropped?

Sorry bro. Just because this is an anonymous chat board doesn't mean anyone can post unsubstantiated rumors without fear of challenging. Now if your handle was RocketwasRobbed1991.... you might have some credibility.

Rule is pretty simple — if you have info, you say where you got it. This is so:
1. People aren’t ripping off reporters or other premium sources and passing off things as their own.
2. There is a modicum of accountability towards posting rumors.

It’s fine to say “I had a conversation with someone close to Sedrick who said…” or “I go to his school” or the equivalent. But it’s a slippery slope towards just making shit up if someone isn’t willing to do even that.
