Maybe this is wishful thinking, but i feel like a 5 star recruit flipping from ND to A&M for NIL money would be big enough news to gain the attention of some wealthy ND fan, who would look to help us out a bit. We wouldn't be able to compete straight up but maybe we could at least not roll over.

Lax touched on this earlier. Big programs in the South have an army of boosters, and they're used to buying recruits because they've been doing it for decades. ND has fewer boosters, and those we do have generally aren't comfortable with the prospect of buying players.

Maybe the first 5-star recruit Freeman has bought out from under him will change things and cause our boosters to organize a bit and close the gap on our competition. But right now, we're comically unprepared for what is coming.

We shouldn't wait for big boosters. Honestly, compared to a lot of schools, we probably actually have fewer ultra rich people, just because we graduate so many fewer people.

What we do have that we can take advantage of is a lot of people with moderate wealth willing to give back to the university. I'm pretty sure ND has one of the highest rates of alumni donations. Now that its all legal, we should start organizing that large number of small donations so they can make a big impact on players. We could so something like Texas is doing with their OL, except even more targeted if need be.

If you read the article it's not all that alarming. It was basically like maybe I'll schedule a visit after the season.

If you want to recruit elite kids, this is what happens. ND is big boy crootin now. Top 150 type kids are going to be courted nonstop by OSU, Bama, UGA, Michigan, USC, etc.

Get used to it!

Also, something to always keep in mind with Keeley is his best friend is enrolling at ND 2022 as a baseball recruit.

I'm all for kids taking visits and playing their options, but why commit so early?
Is this just "change of heart" / "second guessing"?
Or is it about committing to a big school and using as leverage to rise in the ranking and start a bidding war?

I'd be more worried about a resurgent UF than Usc although Keeley's former teammate Tripp is at USC.

Hopefully. Elston leaving has no impact on Keeley's commitment to ND.

Unfortunately, they have a great relationship. Long way to go until NSD but I would expect him to listen to other schools and for virtually everyone to come after him.

Um. I may have missed this. But Elston is leaving? Didn't he just a couple months ago say he's staying at ND? I don't follow this as closely as some. But why'd he say he's staying after Kelly left to suddenly change his mind?

You are correct Elston and Keon have a great relationship. After Kelly left didn’t Keon make a statement something along the lines that he was staying with his commitment due to Elston not leaving…You are also correct every school in America is going to reach out to Keon once the dead period ends. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Keeley end up at Michigan, which would make me absolutely sick to my stomach. Unfortunately I don’t see him signing with Notre Dame. I would think Florida is the leader with Michigan charging hard for Keon Keeley.

An ND alumni should set up a ridiculous NIL deal with Keeley's best friend... ND baseball player, Troy Reader and Reader should buy Keeley a new Escalade with customized plates that say ND Man and $250k in the center console of course. #IrishATM
