Before he blew out his Achilles as an ee frosh, wasn't there talk about him coming for some of Estimes snaps?
Several people were talking about true freshman Price getting a big chunk of snaps by the end of the season until he tore his Achilles in the summer.

It was said that he was RB1 before he did his Achilles. Most likely it was going to be like it is now just with Price being RB1A & Estime RB1B

I always think of the Darren McFadden/Felix Jones combo with these two. And tbh, I've been on the train that Price will likely have the better pro career. No knock on Love at all but I feel like Price's vision in the hole is better suited for the pro game.

But who knows how it'll play out at the next level.
It’s so hard to project because it depends on the teams and the schemes they get drafted into.

Tonight was essentially a mashup of his greatest hits vs. USC, combining a critical kick return TD (like 2023) with an excellent game on the ground (like 2024).

When he broke that tackle in the stadium I screamed "NO WAY, NOT AGAIN!" and some much more casual fan (read: normal healthy person) looked at me like I was stupid.

Wait...
That's the

Student section these days?
In my day it was opposite; below and left of press box
Both sides of the stadium have "press boxes"/suites. Depending on when you went ot ND, I'm pretty sure the student section is in the same spot.

As Greg Flammang has said on ISD, Price has been a Trojan Killer the past couple years. A couple KO RETURN TDs, killing it on the ground last year when Love went out, and even his runs last night.

Did he have any highlights or lowlights in pass protection last night? I know his blocking is improved but my perception is that’s still the weakest part of his game. Really want him to have complete tape to bring to the league.

Would love to see 3 ND backs killing it in prime time at the same time on Sundays among JD, Love, and Kyren.

I didn't see him having to block much last night, I think Love was usually in. It has been a weak point for Price. I think he has improved this year, but he missed at least one big one against NC State and one against Boise that I remember. While being a receiving threat isn't as important at the NFL level as the blocking portion is, he could also still raise his draft stock by catching more passes out of the backfield.

It’s interesting that the NFL isn’t a sure bet to make more money anymore. A star RB is much more valuable to a college than in the NFL. They can dominate the college game. Schools should pay them accordingly.

If a RB realistically projects to have a short career (as most star RBs do because of the way the game is played and the salary cap), he may be better off betting on the solid pay day from his school than getting past his rookie contract and getting a big pay day.

As much as I am soaking in every touch that Love gets, you have to do that with Price too. Price is making sure that Love doesn't cast a massive shadow. That's absolutely awesome to see. He's fun to watch. Has the ability to make every touch something fun.

I will always be a fan of Price for how he's handled his career here. Would be so easy for him to leave to be "the guy" somewhere (and he could be "the guy" just about anywhere).

He also has no business being that fast while looking that big. Everytime I see him run I keep waiting for those scrawny fast CBs to catch up to him and then the gap between them widens.. and widens.. and then he's gone.

I hope ND temps him bag with a gigantic NIL bag.

I know it's wishful thinking, but I really want to see a world where Price takes over as lead back next year and the drop off from him and JLove isn't so drastic, even if I like the backs we have coming up behind them both.

It seems like the "smart choice" would be to declare for the draft if he would be drafted in the first 2-3 rounds.

NIL would help

I think it will likely come down to - does Price wants to experience one year at ND where he is "The Guy". For some guys, that may not be very important. Other guys it could have a huge impact.

not only would we want Price back for his play, but also to help set the standard for Osborne and Walton on how to practice and prepare. I think it's critical for young players to have a chance to see and be around what great looks like at their position.

Yep. Just too good to justify coming back. Not because ND cant pay him a better salary next year, but I cant imagine his draft stock could improve and the goal is to get to the second contract asap

He is VERY GOOD, and could be RB1 just about anywhere in the country, including ND if not for JLove. Not to diminish JD by any means, I think his success in part is because he runs w/ JLove. Think of JD as your #3 hitter and JLove as the #4 clean up guy. #3 guy gets some run because teams know the clean up hitter is still out there, and they can't pitch around both of them. I think it is a nightmare for the oppo.
