I would seriously not expect a whole lot at first. They'll probably give him a reduced number of carries like Diggs at the beginning of the season at best. If he responds they'll throw more at him. Achilles is a hard thing to come back from, but he's young and that bodes well.

Thinking all of this is Payne. I don’t know if JP will be able to be himself after that catastrophic injury.
Obviously hoping I am wrong here but expectations have simmered.

People put way too much stock in the Spring Game. I can't remember the last time a relative unknown balled out in the B&G game and it translated to playmaker in the Fall. I hope Payne is the real deal, especially if Price will need time to shake the rust off. I'm going to temper expectations though.

He also got good reviews through the practice sessions.
It’s hard to see him not being pretty good considering the oline he will be behind will be better and the d lines will mostly be worse.

Yep. This isn't stemming from just 1 good spring game showing.

Payne has apparently been a force all spring.

Diggs was injured all fall camp, if price is 100% by summer this will be about how good he now is, how comfortable, etc.

The weird ruin for me is his 100% now different than what it was before? I hope not but like you said Achilles is tough.

Normally agree but this isn’t a guy that did a ton of things second half of the spring game. He started on one team and did great first drive, and all his work was really first half.

I’d take that quote with a grain of salt. I’ve noticed Freeman is an optimist when it comes to injuries and player availability

Specifically I think it was Pete who said a couple weeks back that for an Achilles that a player may be able to play in 12 months, but won't be fully back to normal until 18 months, which would be after the season. So '24 is when we might see Price back to 100%

I would think he’s 100% clear but doesn’t mean he’s the same back he was before… I sure hope he is!

do players any speed with this injury or is it like ACL injuries where you can sometimes come back just as strong and fast.

Achilles is much worse than ACL these days. Once cleared, he's probably a few months from getting back to his maximum output he will achieve. He will never be the version of himself he could have been if he didn't tear it. I don't mean that to sound harsh because he can likely still become an elite back, but he's gonna have to grind twice as hard than he previously would have.

And not re-injure himself in the process. It’s potentially devastating especially for his position. Let’s hope JD raises eyebrows.
