There’s still nothing in that saying he would have been Irish had offered earlier. He said he was already mind made up by the time we offered. Those aren’t really one in the same IMO.

Kind of odd Fitz the PSU 247 guy took a victory lap essentially on this article haha. Especially since the 247 guys are together. Maybe Loy not popular at the hotel bar.

The PSU 247 board has a hate boner for Loy and for ND.

Hopefully from here on out Rees isn't going to absolutely suck at recruiting any more.

What are you talking about lol, Drew Allar saying that he already made up his mind that he was going to Penn State when ND offered him doesn't mean he was coming if ND offered earlier.

that is true but it is also true to say Allar's comment confirms that offering late (way late) ruined any chance we did have.

Well, I think some have been in serious denial about it. We don’t want to believe things that we don’t like. The only P5 visit he took in 2019 was to ND prior to the pandemic. This was the layups of all layups for Rees if he just stayed in contact with him. PSU wouldn’t never even had a chance.

Yeah, this is how I feel too but technically we don't know for sure if Allar picks Tommy if he offered when we wanted but it's the one you'd want to rewind and let play out again with the offer.

Pretty confident that both he and Allen are going to be good ones and we know Allen was an offer away.

2023 & 2024 will be better... 2023 & 2024 will be better... repeat, repeat.

Maybe this is just projection on my part, but I can't imagine going from a heavy ND lean to no longer interested just because they offered me a couple months later than another program. Smells like bullshit to me.

I have not followed this at all but Allar's path to starting at PSU has to be far easier than ND, right? PSU couldn't do anything on offense when Clifford went down this year and he basically has to beat out a couple of lower rated guys that were unable to produce much when given the chance for the starting spot. Buchner has his own issues but he's an elite prospect and enjoyed some success on the field this year as a true freshman. If Allar is unable to beat him out as a true freshman, it's likely he would be riding the bench for years. That's not really an option for 5 star quarterbacks anymore.

The transfer portal really should have a lot of you guys wringing your hands and pissing your pants a lot less over recruiting.

I'll lay odds on the field that this dude doesn't take his final college snap at Penn State. The entire landscape has changed hard and fast.

Definitely possible but this isn't a Ewers situation. PSU has noboody and if he's as good as advertised/good enough to have transfer options, he'll be taking snaps for them week 1 next year and will be in the NFL after three years. I doubt he transfers if he plays up to expectations.

100%. He will either start next year, or be mixed in next year and start the year after. *If* he's as advertised. With Buchner, he'd be in an even competition at best next year and then possibly have to sit for two years if he lost it.

This dude got offered by Penn State about a year ago and he wound up the third best overall high school football recruit in America on 247 Sports. That's some trajectory. He was unranked on rivals and by September 2021 they had him at 195. He ended up 71st last month.

Anyone projecting this guy to be in the NFL after three years at Penn State. That's the absolute best case scenario even if he is as good as everyone on this board seems to think. This guy flew up everyone's radar awfully quick.

I would be remiss if I didn't remind everyone that Penn State won't stop recruiting quarterbacks after him. When the next guy comes i.n after him and if he begins to get reps for Allar, all the guys who are or are not older than him won't matter. Penn State can also bring in transfers after him too. You worry about the younger guys coming in taking your spot, not the upperclassmen.

Drew Allar isn't at Notre Dame. We have to move on at some point. Penn State just gave their mediocre head coach a ten year extension because SC and LSU fired their coaches. Penn State finished 7-6. I'll take ND's future with Freeman before I put any dimes on Penn State long term.

I feel like he's either going to be the number 1 pick in the draft in 2025 or an absolute bust. The next Josh Allen, or Anthony Morelli.
This kid’s career at a school that isn’t Notre Dame because reasons is either going to *extremely* bum me out or not register a blip. Like you said, there’s no in between here.

I think it all depends if he can become accurate under pressure. As of now he hasn't shown that he is.

Agreed. If he can become an accurate passer, though, *look the heck out* because holy crap, this kid has every other measurable.

The kid has a strong arm and put nice touch on a ball the backup TE dropped. Pretty darn impressive in his first action.

Clifford stinks, I think Allar will push him for the job by end of year.

Clifford looked really good last night. Allar has the tools, but I'll withhold judgement at the moment. For the majority of the game, Purdue's D never got a decent pass rush going and both QB's had all time to throw.

You think Clifford looked really good??? Other than the last drive I thought he looked fine. WRs didn't do him any favors, probably had about 5 drops. But his decision making is average. He's at his best when they ran that 2 minute offense. No time to think just make a play.

Allar should take more snaps each game.

I can’t tell if he’s going to be the #1 overall draft pick in three years or if he’s going to bust. He has all the athletic traits you want but I’m just not sure he has the accuracy/timing you’re looking for to be successful. Regardless, there is going to be a LOT of pressure from Penn State fans to play him. Clifford is so limited.
