In for the USC party. Very good news indeed. But, unless he shuts it down. I hope they keep pushing for other WR’s as well. I have a feeling this isn’t the last twist or turn in this recruitment.

I agree. I add one more receiver at the minimum and hope he sticks and be happy when/if he does.

Even if he was completely solid, we could use a 4th guy this class. We have zero receivers from ‘19 and ‘20 currently at the position. We should all have really high hopes for the current freshmen and the guys in this class, but injuries etc. happen and playmaker depth will be really important if we are to make a championship run over the next two years

Totally agree. With the way his recruitment has gone, I am fearful of a Greenberry type signing day flip.

He's the type of Athlete you take 100% and let him play his preferred position until he shows you that he can't.

I don't remember where I read it last week, but the staff has already told Walker they planned on finding a 4th WR for the class. He was ok with it as of their talk and appreciated them being upfront with it.

I don't see that happening.

Greenberry was a rare situation, because he was a package deal with Tee Shepard and Shepard was basically on his way out from day 1 when he early enrolled and Greenberry followed suit and jumped to Houston.

That 2012 class looked to have one of the best corner tandems in Shepard and Darby and it all fell apart in the home stretch.

Eh, not really how that went down. Greenberry was talking with other schools and flirting with the idea of taking OV's to Miami and UCLA. Then, he finally did take one to Houston and that was before it all went down with Tee. He had a previous relationship with Houston's WR coach. Which is what sealed the deal.

Go back and read his thread. Most thought he was still a lock to sign and the Houston stuff came out of nowhere.

He's there. Wouldn't have bet on that last month.

ISD staff mentioned ND needs to keep recruiting CJ Williams too, indicating he's not fully on board. Would be nuts to lose Walker and CJ.

I've counted Walker out of this class for ~4 months and that hasn't changed.

Honestly any article until NSD or early signing period isn’t really gonna tell anything. He’s telling ND reporters and ND staff the right things. He’s telling Michigan reporters and Michigan staff the right things. You can keep interviewing him a million times and not get anything different. The very last part is the most truth, he’ll have to make a final call at some point

I think you could say that about every recruit with the exception of a few hard cores each year.

Based on what I read from ISD, they did not indicate that at all. The Williams situation is purely precautionary as he'll almost certainly be bombarded by USC when they have a coach in place. I don't see it happening, as there won't be nearly enough time between then and the early signing period.

As for Walker, it's important to note that those comments were before the visit to ND. I still remain cautious and ND needs to lock in a 4th receiver as a precautionary (and really just to have 4), but ND seems to have helped themselves big-time with securing him over the past week.

Matt Freeman's exact comment: "ND needs to keep recruiting CJ Williams as I've said before".

Note - the thread wasn't about CJ Williams nor was he brought up prior to Matt putting this out there. So I'm not sure how you shrug that off as nothing.

And then he followed that up with what Balki said. USC's new coach will make him a priority. He is firm in his commitment, but we have to be on top of it since he's across the country at all times.

This free article from the Michigan site says that as soon as Walker got back from his Notre Dame visit he was immediately back in the phone with Michigan. Then they say him & his dad are on calls with Michigan every day. They then repeated it to make it clear it’s every day.

We beat out Michigan for Rocco, right? When he committed, did he maintain contact with the Michigan staff? I think I am going to avoid this thread, because when it comes to Michigan, if you made a pledge to ND, Michigan is completely antithetical. It disturbs me, even though I understand recruiting is such a dicey game.

If I were a recruit and just got home from visiting ND, Jim Harbaugh is the first person I’d call too. Except I’d tell him what a fucking dickhead he is and how Michigan is for assholes. Hell, I’d probably call him everyday and tell him that. And my parents would too.

Sam Webb is a professional and you can take that as accurate the way he is reporting it. Hard to see him sticking with Notre Dame at this point, would love to be wrong. But he's basically lying to one of the coaching staffs, and you have to think it's Notre Dame.
