Side note: Is there a worse program in the country than Texas A&M right now? Buncha losers with a loser head coach.
Which, ironically, is the program that adopted aggressive NIL recruiting tactics earliest and most shamelessly. Good to remember whenever you read an arahop rant about the BoF holding ND back.

When I was in school we kicked the #1 star basketball player out for a whole semester for "a little weed." Don't know how much times have or have not changed.
Considering our current OC was arrested for battery of a police officer and resisting arrest while he was a player at ND I would think they have.

I thought it wasn't actually his, but the other Aggies' in the car
I'll take the fall if it clears his name and gets him in a gold helmet.

It seems nuts but I know white-collar/professional companies in states where weed is legal that still test as part of hiring. I could definitely see Notre Dame frowning on “a little weed.”
The companies (probably) don't care but their insurance carriers do.

It's probably more like 55% - 65%. Plus contract wording will play a big part as Uncle Sam taxes bonuses at a higher rate. Toronto can probably speak better to that.

Also, article in The Athletic shows the money in general isn't what keeps getting thrown around.

It would be nice to land this kid.
Uncle Sam does not tax bonuses at a higher rate. The bonus might push you into a higher tax rate for that pay check. But at the end of the year, bonuses are treated as income just like your regular wage.

I'm not a tax guy, but we started paying quarterly bonuses last year and people were complaining that the amount of taxes withheld was higher than normal. CFO came out and said they are taxed higher as it's considered supplemental income.

Battery is very subjective. Tommy could have run away, the cop went to grab him, tripped and hit their knee. I have seen similar situations be called assault 4 before. Long story short, Tommy may or may not have done anything really and you can still catch a charge.

That is why they withhold more at the time of payment. Come tax time they are counted as income for purposes of taxes owed. Essentially if you paid the correct amount the rest of the year and your tax rate is lower than the withholding % (most likely for most people) then you will get it back the difference when you file your taxes.

Was there another Tommy that did this stuff? Cause QB Tommy couldn’t run away from you and me.

It's really weird having past years recruiting profiles pop up and having interest in them. Prior to transfer portal I wouldn't even pay attention to them once they committed elsewhere. Now it's like recruiting's second season.

Yeah but I just got new light up sneakers and I can run really fast. Or that might be my 5 year old. I need a snack

If there is any substance to this, we would hear of a visit relatively soon right?

Having Bobby Patrino on your staff is proof positive you're an organization with no standards whatsoever. Not that we didn't know that about A&M already.

Hope it blows up in their face.

Bobby found out UNLV hired Del Alexander and then packed his shit up and left

Bama fans seem pretty confident that Lucas will wind up in Tuscaloosa.

If that’s the case, then he isn’t very bright. Most places he would be a starter there he will be relief. And then he really doesn’t care about academics.
