I would not be surprised if this is Notre Dame's path to success in the portal, and therefore on the field. It seems that Freeman is working to build a culture at ND, and building relationships, and maintaining them with students, may prove very beneficial. But it may take a year or 2 for ND to reap the benefits of this.I remember Sampson talking on the Shamrock podcast - I think the one after USC game - about how Notre Dame could be in good position to land kids in the portal who'd chosen somewhere, um, flashier, out of high school, but then saw the realities of college football and how many promises don't pan out, and might choose someplace that offers something more substantial but also the chance to play big-time football.
Maybe this is that here. Which would be great.
"On Friday, a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023 signed an agreement with a school’s NIL collective that could pay him more than $8 million by the end of his junior year of college, The Athletic has learned. He’ll be paid $350,000 almost immediately, followed by monthly payouts escalating to more than $2 million per year once he begins his college career, in exchange for making public appearances and taking part in social media promotions and other NIL activities 'on behalf of (the collective) or a third party.'"It's a deal worth "up to" $8M. Yeah that sounds nice but even in that Atheltic article he is getting $350K to sign then monthly payments and deals that could total $8M in the end. None of that is guaranteed. They got him for $350K.
But advertising $8M sure sounds cool on message boards and reddit threads. I bet a lot of recruits payed attention to that.
Freeman’s a savvy dude for being a young guy. His leadership plan and ability to execute said plan is really impressive. These traits along with being a tireless worker who has no problem setting his ego aside when the opportunity is there to better himself is why he will be highly successful.I would not be surprised if this is Notre Dame's path to success in the portal, and therefore on the field. The other update from 247 speculates it is UCLA and ND based on Lucas being serious about education and likely choosing to stay away from the SEC this time around. Final 5 was A&M, ND, UCLA, Alabama and LSU.
My thought exactly. It's also why I thought Freeman shouldn't stop recruiting Bowen even after the virtual ink is dry. Kid isn't certain what he should east for breakfast, let alone which school he should go to.I would not be surprised if this is Notre Dame's path to success in the portal, and therefore on the field. They need to talk Justin A into coming back first. Right now, it sounds like he'll enter the portal or go NFL route. If He came this is how I'd line it up-Justin A can rotate between DE/Vyper, Burnham can backup Vyper along with the Freshman kid from Ohio
DE-MILLS-GOBAIRA-Alexander E

DT-LUCASS-FORD-ONYE
VYPER-BOTELLO, BURNHAM, NANA,

Could be hedging his bets because of his arrest and the fact that he may not be a take for admissions.Loy said “if they can make it work.” This smells like he wants to be able to say he called it first if it happens, but also wants a way out when he decides to go somewhere else.

When I was in school we kicked the #1 star basketball player out for a whole semester for "a little weed." Don't know how much times have or have not changed.I think he was just arrested for a little weed would ND really keep him out because of that?
Would both him and Vaughns be takes?
Because there would be no one leftMost companies that used to drug test for weed don't anymore
It seems nuts but I know white-collar/professional companies in states where weed is legal that still test as part of hiring. I could definitely see Notre Dame frowning on “a little weed.”Most companies that used to drug test for weed don't anymore
Side note: Is there a worse program in the country than Texas A&M right now? Buncha losers with a loser head coach.
As soon as I started in finance the drug screening shifted from recreational items to more amphetamine based stuff. Never seen so many people ask each other for doctor recommendations to write them a script. Most companies that used to drug test for weed don't anymore
