What's this face timing with Michigan coaches ?
Yeah apparently FT with Gattis and Jimmy. Something is going on here in recruiting and I’m not sure what to think.
Where did you see this?

You guys need to chill lol
Kelly & staff have no control over what the scUM coaches do.
"Lol I’m all good with ND.”
Styles reached out after stuff came out about Michigan.

Someone mentioned a few days ago that we shouldn't be 'overwhelming' kids like OSU. If it works, that's basically by definition not overwhelming. Personally, I wouldn't want coaches texting me all day every day. I wouldn't ever want to do a Skype or FaceTime. But I'm not a 16-17 year old who's coveted by nearly every school in the country. Gotta play to win.
Seriously what is going on with this recruiting class?
Do these kids just have to much time on their due to covid 19 lockdown?
And seriously does Brian Kelly and staff not have FaceTime or WhatsApp?
I found this online:
https://gbmwolverine.com/2020/03/26...nes-another-nd-commit-contact-rocco-spindler/
It also talks about the whole Michigan staff placing a call to Spindler.
No disrespect to Coogan, but landing all 3* is not going to get us in the top 5....
I posted that ND isn't willing to overwhelm kids with communication the way other programs are, and that's usually the right call with ND types of kids... but they need to figure out which kids are worth it for if they want to land top-5 classes.
There has to be a middle ground they can find between "Diva that won't make it at ND" and "really great kid that won't win you a natty."
I think they've been pretty close in the last two classes, especially the '20 class where they've got three legit difference-makers at the top of the class. But they need to do that more, and start doing it at other positions of need.
Looking forward to the days of chipping all recruits. No excuse not to use technology these days. Perhaps give them free Amazon Echos with ND built in listening aps.
In all seriousness, there's a difference between not overwhelming them, but still keeping your finger on the pulse. I don't know what the frequency is in terms of contact, but if they aren't having a meaningful conversation at least weakly with all these guys, that's a fail. And every commit should be assigned a big brother on the team that checks in regularly from time to time.
We're just trending towards the typical Kelly class: around 10th-14th and no 5 star kids. Not terrible by any means, just not elite.
So, I've been fairly critical and negative lately but this is the stuff that drives me nuts even when I'm feeling pessimistic. It's not remotely close to reality so I have no idea why it's entering the conversation. If we're going to be critical, let's at least be constructive. Finishing the class with 15+ 3 star prospects is not happening so let's move on.
It doesn't help when Kelly Is on SVP show with ESPN and Scott literally says a dig of the greatest intent. "Those low 3 star kids are gonna feel important because of a virus".
I took that as a smack in the face of the University and BK should stay away from trash reporters like ESPN.
@3:39
I didn't interpret it that way. Kelly joked about coaches having way more time than usual for communicating with recruits. SvP followed up with a related joke about how lower rated 3-star kids are probably feeling great about themselves since they're getting a lot more attention now than they're used to. He wasn't implying that NDFB is full of 3-star recruits.
Interpretations.... You may be absolutely right.
I'll never trust ESPN way's. Especially now, with so much time to alienate their enemies.
He wouldn't say that to Saban so why would he say that crap to us?

Buchner and Fisher are 5* kids whether a group of journalism major drop outs award them with the final star or not.
No one is going to want to trade Buchner for any QB in the '21 class, regardless of style or grades.
The only guy who I think might be a better overall prospect than Fisher at OL is Amarius Mims... and ND can't shop down his aisle so Fisher is the #1 OL prospect for ND.
I'm all in on Buchner. That being said, the overwhelming evidence shows that the teams with all those 5* rated kids (by journalism major drop outs), end up competing and winning national championships.
Looking at 247 talent composite, which goes back to 2015, the following is true:
Teams with more 5* players than their opponent are 11-3-1 in the playoffs.
Team with more 5* players than their opponent are 9-1 in the semi-final gams (Clemson over Ohio State this year the exception)
Teams with less than four 5* players on their roster are a combined 0-7 and were outscored by an average of 37-15.
Next year, we'll have two 5*s
