It’s over. I wouldn’t be holding out for any positives at this time. The staff is already moving on with other options.

Only think Blake has done on twitter regarding Will was liking a guys tweet responding back to a ND fan saying Will wasn't coming.

Who are the other options? Donovan Edwards? And is Prophet Brown being recruited as a DB or RB?

Gabe Ervin, Cameron Valdez, and Trevion Cooley are the guys that might not be common names at this time but could be down the road. With that said, I would assume they make a push or try to for Edwards and Kiner. Though I’m not sure they go anywhere.

This has nothing to do with Taylor, Rees or Kelly. If a kid has further aspirations, national champs, NFL etc, you go where you see they develop your position group. You go the factory of the day.

ND hasn't had a semblance of a running game for quite a long time now.

Except...

Clemson has 1 RB in the league.

ND has 3.

Dabo is a WR coach whose whole resume was built on 2 ELITE college QB's, ELITE WR corps and handing 100% control of his defense to Venables who knows how to build ELITE DL's, while mixing a few elite DB's with the best 3* development in the country.

As far as future national championships, that rests on the arm of DJ Ukelele. If he lives up to his rating, then they stay in the club. If he's just good, they are an also ran like UGA & OU. Clemson will still have a guaranteed ticket to the playoffs at least until Norvell fixes FSU.

Our guy Blake Fisher has been RADIO SILENT on the Twitter machine. Me thinks that adds to the bad news. That and the only re-tweet from Will re: his commitment was from a Clemson page.

Sorry I am in mourning right now.

You can't add anymore bad news.

When the CB's went out it was because Shipley contacted them to let them get his commitment videos and the stories ready for his big reveal. Build that brand.

Once Edwards saw that ND was all in with Shipley he seemed to be done with ND.

Too bad that Shipley couldn't have made a visit to ND, I think it would've been a difference maker.

The coaching staff did a great job in recruiting Shipley...NO BLAME THERE!

Clemson wins on field= winning in recruiting....

ND having 3 RB's in the NFL won't do much for them in recruiting since none of them are stars. Most people couldn't name them unless you follow ND closely. Shipley just simply chose the better program. They do a better job overall of developing their players.

Better for what?

Playing time?
Education?
Life after sports?

Or just a chance to be a back up on a NC contender?

He could have all three at Clemson. Stop acting like just because a kid goes to Clemson or Bama that they won't ever start. Until we see him there, we don't know that.

Obviously an education at ND is amazing. Obviously our students "play school." That doesn't mean a smart kid can't get a quality education elsewhere. I'm sure a guy like Myron Rolle is really upset that he went to a football factory in FSU than ND...

He's a 5 star talent. Those type of players likely believe they'll be able to beat anybody for playing time. The other two things you mentioned is not the main priority of these recruits when they're in HS. Their focus is on getting to the NFL. You guys always bring up education because it's the only clear advantage ND has over schools like Clemson, OSU, and Alabama. That often times isn't going to be enough unless it's a 5 star player that takes academics seriously which is rare.

Who is Clemson's RB? Is he a star?

Hint: Wayne Gallman ran for 286 yds combined over the last two years.

He chose the better program but you don't know if he chose them BECAUSE they're the better program. As far as we know, his girlfriend might be why he REALLY stayed on the coast.

And choosing the program who does a better OVERALL job of developing their prospects does nothing for him. He chose a program run by a WR coach. Travis Etienne couldn't get the draft grade he wanted and didn't come out. 2000 APY and the NFL didn't make him come out. This is what the NFL thinks of Dabo's RB's.

At least in South Bend you had the RB Coach / Run Game Coordinator who developed his hometown hero... and a RB room that wasn't gonna put up much of a fight.

Clemson's 20y Football ROI is $660,000. ND's is $781,200. An 18% advantage there isn't much, particularly for a kid who's back-up plan likely involves staying near home, where Clemson's regional clout could easily surpass that slim national edge ND enjoys.

Going by this logic does it make sense for Buchner to go to ND? ND's track record of QB's under Kelly is very mediocre. Especially when it comes to producing pros.

Gonna be hilarious when he reaches under the table and pulls out a Wake Forest hat,...

Lmao this kid had "inside the commitment" interviews locked and loaded with almost every outlet that covers recruiting.

I'm surprised the staff didn't expand the board earlier with this being the case.

From the sounds of it, he decided last week sometime so I don’t know how much time the staff really had here. Rivals doesn’t think the staff was told of his decision until yesterday. Which lines up with the tea leaves. He tells Dabo last week he’s coming. That’s where Anna’s confidence came from. Led our staff on for a week while coming up with his announcement plan. And commits publicly today.

Not a bad look. Was uncommitted and still feeling things out. Nothing wrong there.

Yeah I said what I said. Terrible look. He's known where he was going for over a week now. Had all the media lined up. Told everyone but the staff until yesterday. ND was played and worst of all, so was Big Blake

Sounds like this might have been a done deal back in 2019.

From 247
Shipley wanted it so bad. Since his first experience on the Clemson campus for this same Dabo Swinney camp the year prior, he wanted this offer and now the time had come for him to be clutch and perform.

Winning is the cure all. Like in business, 'sales is the cure all'.

Ohio State is getting 5 stars to commit without even visiting.

ND doesn't win enough to outweigh the fun, parties, girls, easier academic routs, of public schools that win and win big. It's just not going to happen. Why would a great football player go to Notre Dame? Honestly.

We're 33-6 over the last 3 years. That's our best 3-year stretch in 26 years, when Holtz went 31-5-1 between 1991-1993. It's going to be hard win more than that without upgrading our talent level first.
