This kid. I just cant help but feel it was all a ride for him. Nothing has changed over the last 90 days Clemson wise that would have made a difference between now and then. This kid's mind was made up then, he just didn't have the character to say it then. I don't know if it was the balls or the fact that ND finally said, "ok kid, we have done all we are going to do. What do you say?" To me, he just went along for the bells and whistles and ND just kept it coming hand over fist. There is nothing any school would have done any more than ND did and anyone blaming BK or anyone else on the staff isn't looking at this remotely subjectively.
I don't care what you guys want to say about him being a good kid, he played ND and deep down you know it. Im not going to feel remotely bad seeing this kid hold a clipboard then transferring in two years.
We're 33-6 over the last 3 years. That's our best 3-year stretch in 26 years, when Holtz went 31-5-1 between 1991-1993. It's going to be hard win more than that without upgrading our talent level first.
I'll also note that in most cases, even being a factory isn't enough. Look at UGA and LSU... UGA still can't get over the hump, and it took Joe Burreaux to create a focus for LSU's ridiculous yearly talent base to show up.
Without being dramatic, ND's hopes of taking the final step up under BK rely almost entirely on Tyler Buchner at this point.
You can get over the top in two ways:
1. Factory Style - Bama, OSU, Clemson
2. Generational QB Style - LSU (Burrow), Auburn (Newton), FSU (Winston)
ND can't get close to the factory-style recruiting, so they need the QB to carry them over the hump.

All of your examples from the "Generational QB" category are also factories, just less successful ones. So having a hero under center can be enough to take a 2nd-tier factory over the top, but I doubt it would be enough to overcome our institutional and cultural handicaps.

Yeah I said what I said. Terrible look. He's known where he was going for over a week now. Had all the media lined up. Told everyone but the staff until yesterday. ND was played and worst of all, so was Big Blake
Worth noting Clemson was in that second group before they could dream of being in the first.
however, ND has shown they can at least enter the room without the generational QB. So the big question after "is Buchner the generational QB?" is "will the rest of the program be at the level to support him"
Exactly. They were a really good program that couldn't get over the top until Deshaun Watson did his thing.
That put them over the top, and now they're camped there.
That's what ND needs from Buchner. No pressure, kid!
As long as Clark Lea is DC, the defense will be good enough. And a good-enough QB can get you through some questionable skill depth.
Hunter Renfrow isn't better than Chris Finke... but he looked like a national-championship-caliber receiver catching passes from Deshaun Watson.
NFL scouts might disagree - 5th round pick vs UFA
Winning a CFP game is worth +2 to draft round grades lol

Err.. What room is that?
I hope what I read and heard on a podcast earlier was correct, and we have a new Graduate transfer rule in place.
What is it? I heard something about you can transfer once without losing a year. Is that it? Actually you are talking grad transfer so I don't know if we are talking about the same thing. Are they changing the transfer rules generally?
Not sure and It could be fake news... I heard there is a possible 4 graduate transfers we are very close to signing for this year. I've never heard that type of talk around our place before...
Okay cool. I am hoping we get that Gill kid from Ohio State.

I'm sure some of our connections can easily knock this rumor down If need be.
I think he’s referring to the two we already have plus Speights and the CB from NCSU.
Are you allowed to mention any names?
