It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this forum. I’ve been busy focusing on other endeavors, but I wanted to comment on a few posts I’ve read here. Before I start, I should note that everything I say is my opinion or info I have to the best of my knowledge, obviously I don’t have ALL the facts. Okay, here it goes.

First, I know for a fact that PSU did NOT tell him he would be starting as a freshman. Maybe he starts at the school he goes to, maybe he doesn’t, but there have been no guarantees.

Second, as of right now, he is planning to return to ND in late March or early April of 20 with his parents. It’s the only visit he has planned in 2020. I assume he’ll go to PSU at some point, but he has no plans to visit anywhere else now, other than ND. So the only planned visit is to ND, from what I’ve been told by someone close to the family.

Lastly, I’d love to know what “coaches” in the WCAC are scratching their heads about him as a prospect that IrishLax mentioned. I know every head coach in the WCAC and they have all said he is the best O linemen in the league and the best linemen they played against all year. That includes St Johns and Dematha, both of whom played a very tough schedule. Good Counsel played the 6th toughest schedule in the country and he didn’t let up a sack and went up against a few 5 stars and several 4 stars. In addition, the Lemming Report ranked him as the #1 2021 O linemen in the country, he was one of only 2 juniors named to the USAToday All American First Team, along with many other accolades from various outlets, including receiving his 5th star on 247.

So I can point to many, many different folks from different areas with different focuses who rank him near the top or at the top of the 2021 linemen class, but you talk about some mysterious group that has been scratching their heads. Sounds like BS to me, maybe you should stick with lacrosse.

In my opinion, it’s between ND and PSU. He really likes Quinn and is good friends with Blake Fisher. He also really likes Limegrover and is friends with a few guys likely heading to PSU. PSU might have a slight edge right now, but it is slight. I think it will come down to his visits in the spring. It is my understanding that he wants to commit before the summer. Hope this was informative.

Hope to see your son sign with ND, Mr. Tengwall.

Important to note that this will be an unofficial and we should also be getting an OV before he ultimately decides.

They're recruiting the 'Big 3' pretty heavy. If it works, great, but if it doesn't I wonder how much that has alienated other prospects in the mean time.

I'm not too worried. Recruiting offensive line at ND hasnt been an issue in recent memory

It's strange that they make the edits with Fisher/Tengwall/Spindler and they leave off Dellinger. How does that end well?

It doesn't. If I was Dellinger I'd be pissed. Dellinger has skills.

Is Dellinger a tackle/gaurd hybrid

At best. I think his body has changed into a pure OG. Dude's put on a ton of mass since he first came on the scene BUT Mr Hainsey has taught me to have an open mind.

Agreed. That would be my concern, if they miss on these guys where do they go from there. It doesn't seem like we have a lot of traction from outside of this group. And, with the class needing numbers we run the risk of just adding bodies to the depth chart.

I do think it is interesting to send out an edit without Dellinger when I’ve seen multiple interviews with Dellinger and Spindler where they discuss wanting to play together at either Notre Dame or Michigan. I know Dellinger’s got some injuries but I’d take that package deal any day of the week. Also I saw Dellinger mention he’s locked in official visits to Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ohio State so I don’t think he’s that pissed about being out of one cool picture on Instagram or Twitter. I also heard ND was recruiting Wyatt Milum hard as well so I think Quinn is recruiting a few more guys than we think but I definitely think you guys are on the money where it is a risk to have a 3 man edit with Tengwall, Spindler, and Fisher. I think, from what I know, I see ND recruiting hard...

Blake Fisher
Rocco Spindler
Landon Tengwall
Nolan Rucci
Wyatt Milum
Garrett Dellinger

In the Michael Carmody next up for now category:
Drew Kendall
Eli Sutton
David Davidkov
Jager Burton
Trey Zuhn

Thanks but no thanks:
Greg Crippen (actually more like just no thanks)

Good call on Wyatt Milum we do seem to be in a good spot with him.

Understanding the concerns, but the staff may feel very good about where we currently stand with those three or the omission of Dellinger may have simply been a mistake.

Ricco Spindler is digging ND lately, per ISD.

Say what you want about Kelly, but whoever the next HC is will be taking over a top 8 program.

That's a lot different than what Kelly took over.

Where even was the program when Kelly took over? I wasn't following too closely at that time.

.500

And that was with. Clausen to Tate, Rudolph, Floyd & Riddick.

ND wins a title next year with those 5 in place of whoever you chose.

Right but as opposed to the Top 8 program the next coach would be inheriting, where would ND have ranked in 2009? Maybe top 25 considering potential?

Shooting from the hip, I'd say ~22nd?

I think these teams are suited to win big better than we are post-BK. The list has shrunk considerably:

- Bama
- Clemson
- OSU
- Oklahoma
- LSU
- Georgia
- Michigan. Yes, Michigan. They just need to get past OSU and they're in. The Athletic came out with 14 teams that can win it all in today's CFB, Michigan's included ND is not.

I’d go by recruiting talent and you’d see a very similar list

Top Programs
Alabama
Ohio State
Georgia
Clemson
LSU
Oklahoma

On the cusp
Michigan
Penn State
Notre Dame

Talented but flawed
FSU
USC
Texas

Based on recruiter talent you can get a pretty good idea that some teams are just flat out more talented than others. There are several teams that have recruited certain positions extremely well but have some serious roster flaws. USC for example has some of the most talented WR and DB groups in terms of rankings in the country but they fall woefully short on the two lines with recruiting. Michigan, Penn State, and Notre Dame haven’t proven they can beat the teams above them in this list but are very talented rosters with lots of wins in the last few years which is why I put them on the cusp. BK has definitely improved the depth of this team and I think he’s trying to raise the bar even higher which is exciting for recruiting and for the squad.

i agree but i would add Florida to the list of on the cusp....i hate them, but they attract talent and mullen has got them back

Yes. I knew I forgot one or two. Thanks! Florida is definitely close. I’d also add Oregon might be close to making that list. They add one more strong top 15 class and you’re looking at a team that will start to have run away talent in the pac-12. Cristobal has Oregon recruiting at a level that they didn’t even see with Chip Kelly. Florida has two top 10 classes in a row and has the QB position seemingly figured out. Also, Texas A&M had the 4th best 2019 class followed by the 6th best 2020 class which is absurdly good. That’s recruiting at a top 5 level and I think they’ll be on the way up with virtually unlimited resources and a good coach.

Per ISD:

Set his official visit to ND for April 3-5.

That means he'll be on campus twice within a month and most people believe he'll make a decision shortly after his visit. These visits are obviously going to play a big role.

It’s laughable how Michigan is on any list to be good enough to win a NC. It’s not happening. At least not with Harbaugh. They get more undeserved benefit of the doubt hype than anybody this side of Bama (Bama deserves some, but not what they get, people would argue they deserve to get in the playoff with 2-3 losses). The sad thing is our fan base seems to be drinking the maize and blue kool aid. I’ll file it under”believe it when I see it”

- Yes, I know they creamed us last year, although we beat them the year prior. I think we’re WAY overvaluing them and The Athletic must be too. I’m just not a believer. They get their sh!t pushed in by OSU every. single. year. Also the second tier teams smack them around usually too (PSU and Wisconsin to name a couple). How is it when we lose by a few tds people (particularly our fans) NEVER forget. Yet Michigan can get dismantled every season by OSU (and Wisconsin last year too) but they’re considered a better bet to win a natty. I call bull$hit
