So let me get this right. Someone tied to Nazareth Academy is stating they will not send any of their kids to Notre Dame and Notre Dame "burnt" a bridge by recruiting another QB and recruiting JJ McCarthy at the same time.
I hope you're the head coach because that's the biggest load of horseshit I have ever heard in my life.
It's fine to have those feelings since you're very close with JJ. That's fine. Everyone is going to have snarky feelings when the school the kid and you want him to go to never offers. If you're not the head coach, I wonder how he feels about this airing out on the internet on this board and about 5 others I have seen this on. You'd think a program with the long history of Nazareth Academy would have mature individuals within the program.
Outside of that, I find it hard to believe you have a good grasp on how recruiting works. Notre Dame never offered JJ and explained to him what their process was going to be like for him. As you correctly stated, JJ wasn't option #1 for Notre Dame. I'd actually put him about the #4 or $5 option, but that's not a bad thing as we can see how things quickly change in recruiting.
If you’re mad they never offered, I feel you went to the extreme.
If you’re mad they led JJ on, get your big boy pants on. It’s college football. It’s a business, which is something Nazareth Academy should know a thing or two about.
Notre Dame never promised JJ an offer or told him any false facts. They liked him as a QB and had other targets higher on the board.
Are you going to steer Nazareth kids away from Ohio State too? If you thought Notre Dame used JJ, then I would hate to see what you’re writing on the Buckeyes boards. Ohio State offered and then told him it wasn’t committable when things picked up. They used JJ as leverage for a few other quarterbacks.
I agree, it sucks for kids in JJ’s position, but it literally happens to every kid in the country minus 20 kids a year. You don’t think Notre Dame bringing in all these defensive end recruits isn’t a message to Braiden McGregor? You don’t think Notre Dame offering and visiting new defensive end targets isn’t a message to McGregor?
Get off your high horse.
And to bring up Michael Love? I know you’re one salty person.
You specifically mentioned Notre Dame stopped calling and communication in the fall. Well, Notre Dame filled up with Kendall Abdur-Rahman on September 9th. Logic says Notre Dame wanted two receivers and received two commitments from receivers, then they would stop communication with other receivers. Notre Dame also stopped contact with other “offered” receivers and didn’t recruit prospects who reached out to Notre Dame later in the cycle.
However, since Michael Love went to your school, Notre Dame did him dirty. I’ve never heard of such BS. Love is a good player but there is a reason no Power Five program recruited him hard and why he flipped from one MAC program to another MAC program. He’ll have his chance to prove them wrong, but if you’re getting paid millions of dollars, would you choose Kendall Abdur-Rahman or Michael Love?
