So if you suck long enough as a big school you get to play down? How the hell does that make sense? Absolutely screws the little schools. How many kids go to Bishop's?

800. But let's be fair, that 800 isn't apples to apples. It's going to kill them when "depth" matters but otherwise being a private school means you can recruit which means you have a significant edge on most public schools you play.

I have never understood why some states combine public and private schools for playoffs. In the DC area there is none of that, and for good reason.

I'm 100% convinced that if Tyler Buchner doesn't succeed in South Bend then we'll never have an elite QB with this staff. Buchner is a Andrew Luck/Trevor Lawrence level talent, if you ask me.

I completely agree. Frankly, I don't care about anything other than making sure he signs 13 months from now. He has Heisman level upside and is the kind of talent you need to take the next step.

Agree. I'm so in on this kid that I don't care if 4* Phil transfers. Would take another year of Book and then this kid from day 1 (hope he is an EE).

He’s uber talented, super polished mechanically and seemingly has it between the ears. He’s a guy you give the ball to as a true frosh and let him grow.

That first sentence is spot on. In high school me and my redneck buddies often squared off with small private school teams stacked with D-1 talent when the playoffs rolled around. One of them, Montclair Prep (the precursor to IMG) eventually got busted for violations. If I’m not mistaken they had kids from Texas on the roster at one point.

Kid is obviously good. Not sure I'd put him in the same league as luck and Lawrence, though. At least not yet.

Here’s what happens when you have a truly elite QB committed. This is from 2021 WR Emeka Egbuka. Arguably the best WR in the country.

You mean to tell me that high end receivers want to play with high end quarterbacks?!?!

The throw at the :25 second mark is ridiculous. There are few college QB's that can make that throw.

That's a nice shout out but I'll be shocked if Ebuka leaves Jimmy Lake and UDub. Plus, they are the only school who has a QB with more passing yards than Buchner. Ethan Garbers has 600 yds more than Buchner and a chance to be #1 in the nation after their State Championship game this weekend.

I do believe by the time the 2022 season rolls around, ND's WR roster will look like the last days of Charlie's reign... All American's everywhere.

Health and a good head on this kid's shoulders and he can get you a title. Holy cow those junior highlights are incredible.

Looks like a custom character in a video game.

Mhm. NCAA 2010 road to the Heisman...could finish your freshman season with like 75 tuddies and the game would still give the Heisman to Antonio Brown...with 1000 yards and 8 td's.

He looks off defenders better than most college quarterbacks already. Makes every throw with ease. Has shake, burst, and top end speed. Just ridiculous film.

Not to get ahead of myself but this kid could get ND over the hump. Without top 5 classes every year, which isn't realistic for ND, it is necessary to get a few difference makers every class. Tyree, Johnson, and Botelho in 2020, and this kid and Shipley in 2021 is an awesome start.

He has a very strong arm and looks incredibly accurate. Is it just me or does his throwing motion look odd? Heck, a weird motion has worked for Philip Rivers his entire career.

His throwing motion is excellent from everything I've seen.

It’s more that just like Lamar Jackson and Mahomes he throws from different arm angles. I think a lot could be from lacrosse where you’re often shooting side arm, etc. He makes some cross body throws that you simply don’t see many other QBs capable of making regardless of “arm strength.”

This really is all the rage right now amongst QB coaches it seems. And, I'm pretty confident his QB coach specifically has him work off platform throws with varying arm angles regularly. I've read some interviews where he's stated as much.

His actual throwing motion when he's not doing that is nice.

The above link is the workout Loy taped last spring as he was just starting to get back to himself after the injury. Kid is smooth.

Wow that is awkward.

Does anyone have a good feel on his actual height? Recruits are never as big as they self-list.
