That Steve Wiltfong tweet is the first thing I've seen that has me thinking that Minchey could beat Carr. Just a really weird thing for a national reporter to put out there.
IDK. It could be that he has inside info, or, more likely IMO, that he just got around to hearing the chatter that has reached national media the last few days that this is a real competition and Kenny has a real chance.

100% certain that Buchner will not be starting lol...thank goodness
I still like my prediction that Buchner will score a rushing TD versus Miami. A short yardage package has got to be in the gameplan for him if Carr is the starter

The FanDuel odds on a Buchner rushing TD would make you a very rich man lol

While I am still surprised at the outcome if it's Minchey, I just think that surprise is because of the preconceived notion by many of CJ Carr being the chosen one. I wonder what the perception on this would be if Minchey was committed the same amount of time as Carr instead of a late flip. Both were elite 11 QBs. CJ was 68 in the composite, Kenny 170. This isn't the case of a 3 star sophomore beating out a 5 star junior. This is a high 4 star junior beating out a high 4 star sophomore.

IMO People are really overlooking this guy as a dark horse in the QB competition:

- 2x state champion QB
- As a senior this year, he went 160-of-218 (73.4%) for 2,316 yards and 30 touchdowns to just five interceptions.
- He also turned 97 carries into 905 yards (9.3 yards/carry) and three touchdowns.
- Great genetics
- 6’3 200+ pound frame

The crazy part to me is how we talk about the run game last year as if Riley was not a unique running talent at QB—one of the best I’ve seen.

Without him, it’s going be a whole lot easier to stack the box and slow down the running game no matter how talented our RBs are.

Even Saban in his prime at Alabama realized running it down opponents throats with the best RBs and best OL did not score enough points against the gunslinging teams.

So we need a QB to stretch the field or we’re going to take a step backwards in the run game, regardless of Love and Price.

Conservative football creates straighter path to 10 wins/year. But, with only a couple of exceptions, it tends to come up short in the NC.
While we don’t currently have the WR talent that a lot of those Bama teams had, the depth at RB we have will create mismatches. They can do a 4 WR set with Fields, Greathouse, Pauling and Love with Price in the backfield. Love in the slot and in space against a 3rd/4th corner is a positive matchup for us. If they stack the box we’ll have those pass catchers isolated. Snider did the same at Penn State against Oregon in the B10 title game and made Ailar who isn’t good, look good.
