I don’t think so. They’d be 12.

There were 10 teams that had guaranteed spots entering today regardless of results. The only question was Big 12 winner, Bama or Clemson, and the seeding.
i mean this has been covered, apparently the committee is willing to move anything it needs to to make ND Bama happen,… which honestly makes zero sense to me, if ND and Bama are such draws why make certain one is one and done??

They were undefeated in conference play. They should knock Bama out If they lose, regardless of the score.
The committee already said they won't penalize the loser of the CCG's
I keep hearing this.
I don't believe it at all Bama or SMU they are spreading wide for Bama like it's spring break.

Guaranteed based on what?

Boise and SMU had to win.

If they don't keep their consistency the committee should be abolished. Georgia should be out completely if Beck Is hurt and can't play, far as I'm concerned.
Consistency Is all we can ask for.
ND should be ranked #3, If tonight keeps up with the scores of the current games

No they absolutely did not, people keep saying this.

They were VERY clear that teams playing this weekend can move up and down with new data points.
I'm not sure what you've been listening to, but that fat guy, commissioner of the commitee definitely said he wouldn't penalize the teams that play in the CCG's.

If the committe can find a way to have ND Bama and Texas Ohio State as the blue blood matchups for the 1st ever play offs I gaurantee that those are their dream prime time match ups.

He was on GameDay literally this morning saying teams will move up and down and possibly out based on today's results.

They would MUCH rather split those teams up and get them all into the semifinals or at least the quarterfinals of they could control it.

Blue blood first round matchups means you're deleting half of your blue bloods for the later rounds.

The same fat guy also said that SMU could potentially fall below Alabama if they lose to Clemson.

So yeah, there goes that logic.

I didn't see that. He's defiantly changed his opinion in the last week then. That's the problem with politics and a committee like it is. They change their minds way too much

You think if an 11-1 SMU lost in their championship game in OT to Clemson, they'd drop behind a 3 loss Bama team? Because the committee is bullshit if so.

Sure it’s been mentioned, but It’s a slippery slope and will force conferences to abolish the CCG and come up with some antiquated method of determining the conference champion to avoid losing a potential seat at the table by having it.

It cuts both ways, but for every situation where an upset adds a spot for a conference, there will be 5 where they lose one.

Dude SMU SUCKS. Not as bad as Boise but they're not worthy of an at-large bid.

Folks are talking/posting over each other over the definition of “penalize”. No, they’re not going to be penalized to the extent of being out of the CFP but they could drop in seeding if they lose (presumably in blowout fashion).

For this year I don't think they care.
Following years I'd agree.

Lax has already said they will do damn near anything to have ND Bama in the 1st round.

I can see them salivating over Ohio State and Texas in Columbus for the exact same reason.

I can see that. but why not have those matchups in the semi's?
The first round should be best teams against the worst teams, just like CBB.

I'm looking forward to a 16 team playoff already

16 teams?!?! Do you really want 4 loss SEC teams in the CFP? I’d prefer an 8-team playoff

I think it seems crazy but it's part of the deal. The conference championship results should be relevant. It definitely has the potential to negatively impact Notre Dame in the future. Even if we have the greatest team of all time we can never have a first round bye bc of our lack of conference championship. If it can negatively impact us, it should have the potential to negatively impact everyone.

1st FBS playoffs ever a chance for a prime time matchup between the bluest of blue bloods on both nights in the 1st round?

If they could this year they'd try to justify Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and USC being in so they could rig it even more.

They’ll change the conference auto bids in a couple years so they can have three or four BIG/SEC teams with byes,… only they will open the door for us too

I don't think UGA should be out because they won, but if they lost an argument could've been made. They set the precedent last year when an undefeated FSU was sent home because of an injury.
Although that was with the 4th team of a 4 team playoff not the 12th team in a 12 team playoff?
