And.... wins over bowl-eligible teams

Alabama has 4.
Ole Miss has 3.
Texas A&M has 3.
Texas has 2.
Georgia has 2.
South Carolina has 2.
Mizzou has 2.
LSU has 2.
Colorado has 2.
Tennessee has 1.

Irish have 5.
And as mentioned, #5 IU's schedule sucks. With the U$C win over the Huskers on Sat., they now have played NO team that has less than 5 losses! O$U will be the ONLY one! Gesh.

What happens if we beat Army and then lose a close game to USC? Do we still make the playoffs?

Unlikely due to the SEC having such a bottleneck. I don't think we get the benefit of the doubt over those teams with the current media landscape.

Conference championships are going away. Auto byes are going away. This year is a case study for both of these things just not working. Nobody in the SEC wants to go to the SEC champ. I doubt OSU or Oregon really want to go the the Big 10 champ either. And nobody from the Big 12 or ACC is top 4 worthy.

Literally everyone in the preseason said we had to go 12-0 or 11-1 to get in the Playoff because the schedule was weak
That's literally not true. Plenty said 10-2 would likely get it done. Obviously no longer the case. if nothing else, there were certainly discussions/debates about a 10-win team getting in. We had 3 opponents ranked in the top 25 (aTm, USC, and a top 10 FSU) and Louisville was the top vote getter for "other receiving votes," so 4 fringe top 25 teams. It was a good enough schedule to warrant a 10-2 conversation. Also, Miami (FL) dropped our game. FSU and USC turned out to be ass. Nothing ND can do about that.

Conferences should be next.

The problem the committee will have in justifying Georgia jumping ND after a really good win vs Tennessee, is they'll have to carry Ole Miss ahead of ND as well, who was on a BYE...

Colorado also got shelled by Nebraska who looks like they’re going to lost their last six games of the season after starting 5-1
Sucks for Nebraska. CU has won four in a row, all in convincing fashion, and have the proverbial Heisman favorite running around for them on both sides of the field.

A lot can change in a couple of months.

I would forego any more field goal attempts, just go for it for now on. Way too many missed chip shots. HS kickers in Texas are much better than the ND kicker.

Very sloppy game by ND. Too many dropped passes, penalties, and too many missed open receivers. Got the feeling that if playing one of the playoff teams, that game could easily have been lost.

Defense continues to be incredible, but offense has to be much better to get where we want to go.

What is the status of Moore? Any other injuries?

interesting note by Pate last night baout SEC possibly throwing a tantrum this year that could throw everything out of wack if there teams dont get it. My thought when I heard it immediately went to the super league debate. ND would be in this crazy position where both conferences (BIG and SEC) would go all out for them I think. ND could be the fulcrum to a huge balance of power debate in CFB.

If ND wins out and gets to host a game when will tickets go on sale? I know it’s either going to be the 20th or 21st.

Also I’m curious since that game will fall so close to Christmas and no students will be on campus. Will ND sell the student section tickets as regular tickets?

I imagine it will be a week after the championship games are done.
FYI, I just got an email from the Dallas ND Alumni club asking for game ticket/hotel interest if ND hosts. So, ND ticket office and clubs are currently working on it.

I feel like the last time I felt this badly about our kicking situation was with Brandon Walker and Carl Gioia.
Reminds me of 1994/1995 seasons...Scott Cengia & Stefan Schroffner. XP were a serious adventure.

The more interesting conversation is what if we lose to Army and beat USC.

Would Army be a playoff team? Would we only drop a few spots? Quality loss, baby!

Hotels are pricing weekend of 20/21st like a football weekend with top choices fully booked. We usually get our lottery info on bowls a week or so before the end of the season and I expect this will be the same. I would be surprised if students get a full allotment which is criminal - keep the dorms open and let the students party like mofos post finals leading up to the playoff game.
