Blue & Gold and On3's Jamie Shaw have new information on Notre Dame guard Markus Burton as portal season begins.

Soble's sources expect JRK and Davis to be the only departures. Fluid of course.
Maybe I need to take the blue and gold glasses off, but we know that Shrews can recruit and if ND is willing to spend, the message of come play with the best returning point guard in the country should resonate with some quality transfers.
I think the frustrating aspect for me, is that it doesn't even seem like we have a chance for the big portal names.
Someone like Owen Freeman (Iowa) should be someone we're all over, and offering big money to, because of our lack of any real size right now.
Shews has to be feeling the pressure right now, and as we've all seen with this tournament and regular season the quickest way to turn around your program is transfers with experience playing big time college basketball.
Even if we strike out, it would just be nice to see ND's name mentioned with some of these big names this transfer portal cycle, so that I can at least feel confident the administration understands that.
Personally, I'm at five alarm fire time with the program.
We haven't been a national title / final four legit contender for now about 10 years.
We've hardly been competitive at all for the tournament now about five years (2022 was fun, but lets face it that team wasn't all that good).
We can hardly get fans / students to come to games, and the excitement level for the program is probably at the lowest it has been in my lifetime (30 years).
This is a big offseason for the administration to decide how we want this program to move forward.
Are we going to be a player in the transfer portal N.I.L space and figure out ways to help our coaching staff "buy" thier roster or continue to get left behind by the sport and believe high school recruiting and graduate transfers from schools like Northwestern, Lehigh, etc. works for our academic standards...
I'll continue to be optimistic, but this past decade has been bleak.
