Really enjoy Shrewsberry ball. 4 freshman all playing really well after the first 10 minutes. This will definitely be a slog of a year but enjoyable to watch knowing the future is very bright

The fact that they were 3/17 from downtown and still won the game is a complete swap of the Brey era, when we essentially lived and died by the three.

Burton was unbelievable, I'm sure as a freshman he might have some growing pains as we get into the meat of our schedule and he's being defended by better athletes, but he can get to the rim and score.

Lesser teams will crumble after that slow start but I liked the fight to get back into the game after the first 10 mins. Looking forward to this season.

It's wild after so many years of Brey to see athletic bigs on the court for us. That plus an overall young team which includes someone like Burton who might be a long term, great future at point should make everyone want to pay attention to this team for the foreseeable future. We know Markus can take it to the rim himself, but I'd love to see him show of his ability to distribute the ball today and hopefully see some great things from our other guards.

not totally surprised by this during a total rebuild by a new coaching staff. told some IU fans at work that i would be happy if this new team wins just 15 games this season.

Carey Booth is our best player and needs to play max minutes. Burton is good, and I hope to be proven wrong but I expect he's going to have more games like today where he struggles than game 1 where he's great. He's a ln undersized 3-star who will excel against low level but have challenges against high level teams. As with Freeman.and football, it's a 3-year project. People should temper expectations.

I just think you can't ask Burton to shoulder the games. Let him have a role. Let his ability to make plays be part of the offense but clearly you cannot just let him try to drop 25 every game. Need to continue getting the big guys involved in scoring. Booth can do it all over the court so lean on him.

Seems the team still has quite a bit to master but that's okay. Very young and if they work hard they can be very talented. They'll likely struggle with veteran teams this year.

15 would be a miracle IMO. 10 or more is gravy. This year us about setting a culture and making sure Booth and Burton are ready to go next year with the incoming freshman. Year 2 will be better, but year 3 is when I expect them to truly compete.

I didn’t get to watch the game but college basketball is much different than college football. Smaller schools could be really good. Remember all this year is probably gonna be rough. Give the coach some time.

Watched the game. Was bummed with the result obviously but ultimately the traits you want to see in a team going through a rebuild are present. In game 1 Markus Burton went off and showed he is going to be that dude. Maybe the Chris Thomas of Micah Shrewsberry era. In game 2, we saw Carey Booth go off in the second half and showed some serious range while also able to get to the hoop. Building around him and Burton gives you a bright future. I hope Kebba N'Jie comes back soon because I really wanna see what they look like with his length on the court.

Not to minimize the L, but I do suspect that Western Carolina team is going to pip Furman in the SoCon and make the tournament. They returned 4 of their 5 starters. A veteran team like that playing together for a couple of years is going to be a challenge for any newly put together team, especially one led by freshman.

These guys just look so little. Also when Matt Zona—bless his heart—is starting and playing significant minutes, thats a big hurdle to climb.

Burton is fearless and these guys have a ton of fight. Definitely undersized right now but they’re playing against a team with a good deal more developed talent.
