Being unable to scrimmage 5 on 5 without pulling guys off the bookstore courts is always problematic.
If the concern is scrimmaging, Demetrius Jackson is always around and is probably better than anyone on the roster.

closing in on a roster deep enough to scrimmage without using the student managers.
Going to be awfully young tho. Hope we pick up some old guys to fill up the roster while also working the 2024 class to replace them in a year.

Definitely going to be very young, and probably not very good.

If hoops fans don't go into the season with the right mindset I think they're in for a rough reality check. I don't expect ND to come anywhere near the top ten in the ACC; if they do it would be a pleasant surprise.

Patience is our friend with this program right now; Brey left the cupboards completely bare. Losing Sterling and Lubin were backbreakers.

I hope that Mike Brey is enjoying his newsfeed about ND basketball recruiting,

4 recruits in 4 straight days; never happened that I can remember!!

This PSU class was ranked #24 while at PSU, with Burton in the mix is this a top 20 class?

Too bad Shrews wasn't at ND to coach players like Blake Wesley & JJ Starling.

How good are they supposed to be next year? Couldn’t watch the past couple of Brey teams out of frustration.

Not good most likely mainly due to youth. I'd expect to see a lot of growth in year 2, and a tournament team in year 3.

Probably bottom half of ACC if I made to guess. Unlike the Brey years, you’ll have a reason to watch the growth.

Shrews was an awesome hire.

What’s your guys’ pulse on our how we might perform this year?

Shrewsberry brought a lot of people over and recruiting seems high. From the few reports I read a month ago, a lot were projecting us near the very bottom of the ACC, which I don’t necessarily buy.

A lot is unknown, but I don’t think uncertainty = bottom finish. Not saying we’ll be ultra competitive, but a middle-of-the-pack season with some serious tournament aspirations wouldn’t surprise me. But others may be more tuned in than I am.

Hoping for a stream. I’ve heard the younger Shrewsbury and Burton have looked very impressive thus far

Out of conference, they need to take care of business in the games they should and go 1-3 or 2-2 against Georgetown, South Carolina, Auburn, and Marquette.

In conference, they do benefit from doubling up against some of the bottom half teams in the league in Virginia Tech (projected 8th), Boston College (projected 12th), Georgia Tech (Projected 13th), but then also do have UVA and Miami twice. I think success in conference this year is reach 7 or 8 wins to get them 7-13 or 8-12 in conference. OOC, 1-3 or 2-2 in those games would have them at 7-3 or 8-2. Let's assume 7-3 because even if they go 2-2, you can expect another dropped game. Best case I am seeing 16-14. I am considering the year a success if they win more 12 games to be honest. If they somehow go 16-14 or better, Shrewsbury is ACC coach of the year in my book.

They simply don't have the experience, depth, or size right now. I think with their incoming recruiting class + an impact transfer or 2, you could see a dramatic improvement in year 2, but this is a long term project. This year, I want to see them play hard, scrappy, and fundamentally sound ball. If they play like that throughout, it will be watchable even in losses unlike some of the Brey teams of the last 5 years.

I'll be happy with over 15 wins. Looking forward to watching them this year.

Regardless of what the final record is going to be, I'm looking forward to a fresh start for this program. I'll always be very fond of Mike Brey, but man, it was time.

Really excited for Coach Shrews. Pumped NDMBB is back!

I’m assuming they’ll be hot trash this year, bubble team next year, and a good team in 2025
