Still two weeks from the B10 joining, and 4 till the PAC late games.

Not a bad week. Couple good early games, couple good mid afternoon games, and of course ND/FSU and Miami/Clemson in the evening. Enough to keep you going all day. Pace yourself Irish fans. Being without ND for two weeks sucked, but at least we had some upsets.

Thursday Night
Tulane at Houston (-6) 7:30 PM ESPN
-If you're bored

Friday Night
Louisville (-4.5) at Georgia Tech 7:00 PM ESPN
-Not a horrible one for Friday night

Saturday Early
#4 Florida (-6.5) at #21 Texas A&M 12:00 PM ESPN
-FL always has a choke game. Not sure if this is it though.

#19 Virginia Tech at #8 North Carolina (-5) 12:00 PM ABC
-Matchup of 2 (of 5) undefeated ACC teams. Go Heels (for our SoS)

#22 Texas at Oklahoma (-2.5) 12:00 PM FOX
-Not sure I've ever been so unexcited about the Red River Showdown.

NC State at Virginia (-8.5) 12:00 PM ACCN
Duke (-2.5) at Syracuse 12:30 PM ESPN3
Missouri at #17 LSU (-14.5) 12:00 PM

Saturday Mid Day
#14 Tennessee at #3 Georgia (-12.5) 3:30 PM CBS
-TN has a history of upsetting UGA every blue moon. Go Vols.

Pittsburgh (-6) at Boston College 4:00 PM ACCN
-More 5* Phil, if you wish

UTSA at #15 BYU (-34.5) 3:30 PM ESPN2
Texas Tech at #24 Iowa State 3:30 PM ABC
Arkansas at #13 Auburn (-13.5) 4:00 PM SECN

Saturday Evening
#2 Alabama (-24) at Ole Miss 6:00 PM ESPN
-Only interesting if you want to see Kiffy get spanked by daddy. The rest is rat poison.

#7 Miami at #1 Clemson (-14) 7:30 PM ABC
-Another matchup of 2 (of 5) undefeated ACC teams. Go Convicts

Florida State at #5 Notre Dame (-20.5) 7:30 PM NBC
-This should be a blow out. And I'd love it if it is.

UTEP at Louisiana Tech (-14) 7:30 PM ESPN2
Mississippi State at Kentucky (-2) 7:30 PM SECN

Tulane-Houston has been fun so far. Lots of points in part due to defensive TDs

Watched a little, but only during commercials of the Bears/Bucs game. Bears hanging.

Golic Jr is not one of my favorite commentators.

Whoa big drop by James there that would had been an easy TD. Should be a close one till the end.

Kind of an interesting question of whether or not we should root for Miami.

Arguments to root for Clemson:
1) Fuck Miami - I don't want them to start recruiting well or being good.
2) Gives ND an opportunity to do something historic in November.
3) If ND loses in November to Clemson, Miami having a loss increases the odds that ND still gets into the ACC championship game for a potential rematch against Clemson.

Arguments to root for Miami:
1) Hurts Clemson (but at what cost?)
2) If we win in November against Clemson, makes the odds of having to play Clemson in Charlotte that much lower, which means that we would have an easier path to win the ACC and get to the playoffs. ...But it would mean that if we lose the ACC, we lose it to the Canes. :none:

Basically, it comes down to if you think we're winning in November against Clemson. If you think we're winning, rooting for Miami is probably the best call for this season in a vacuum because we get to say "Bye Felicia" to Clemson and not play them again while they sit at home. If you think we're losing, you want Clemson to win so we get hopefully two shots at them.

It's gonna be hilarious that a bunch of us are arguing whether we want Miami to beat Clemson or not and come Saturday they get absolutely wrecked by the Tigers.

It's been THREE posts since mine, and Greyhammer has me reconsidering things...

End Clemson's regular-season dominance in a classic 'Bad Things Happen To Historically Good Teams When They Visit South Bend' game, or...

Beat Clemson AND Miami on the way to a conference championship in ND's only year actually playing IN a conference, successfully trolling the whole college football world.

This whole week I've been thinking that I want Clemson to embarrass Miami becuase a. fuck Miami and b. I wanted an undefeated Clemson to show up in South Bend next month.

But then last night I had a similar thought to the rest of you: I don't actually want to play Clemson twice lol. I want to make the ACC championship game and play anyone else. Miami winning gives us the best chance of that happening. Fuck that play the best team thought: we'd already be playing Clemson once, and they are a monster. Once is plenty imo.

I want to beat Clemson in SB, and then get revenge on Miami in the ACC playoff.

And while I'm dreaming, I then want revenge on both UGA and Bama in the CFP.

For anyone who's interested, Louisville and Georgia Tech are playing right now. ND plays both this year with UL coming up next week (hopefully)

I'll be blunt, both of these teams are just terrible. I expect Ga Tech to be awful, but I'm really surprised as to how bad Louisville has looked so far this year. Their offense has some playmakers that ND will have to keep an eye on like Hawkins and Fitzpatrick, but their line play is really awful. They got absolutely abused by Miami and Pitt, so ND should do much of the same. I thought Satterfield would have his team ready to take another step forward this year. I didn't expect them to be great or anything, but I thought they would be solid. So far, they look worse than last year and by a pretty significant margin even. At least last year, there weren't good, but they showed progress as they went through the year. So far, they've been really awful.

Agree on their line play, but I think GT is probably better than some folks expect (relative to the past), and Louisville is just not as good as people expected. Neither has a D. We should crush both if we are who we think we are.

Nah, I've seen Tech play a few times. They're complete garbage.

They got absolutely routed by UCF and Syracuse, both of which are not all that good themselves. It's really a testament to how bad FSU has been so far, that they struggled to do anything on Tech. But make no mistake, Tech is BAD. They may be better than last year, but that's not really saying much.

I'm talking relative to expectations. Vs last year, and also considering they're still getting use to a new scheme and doing a remodel with personnel. Like I said, both Ds are/were garbage.

Talk about your warm up to the season

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">1. I’m pretty sure Notre Dame is quite good.<br><br>2. Notre Dame’s first four opponents are 0-10 against Power 5 opponents. And it would have been 0-13 if the Wake Forest game happened.</p>— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) <a href="https://twitter.com/PeteSampson_/status/1314757313287385088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 10, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Duke, Louisville, Wake, and FSU are the bottom 4 in the ACC and the only ones without a conference win.

Louisville gave up 20 unanswered in the 4th. 46 in total, to GT, whose QB only completed 11 of his 21 throws

They gave up TD drives in: 2 min 50sec, 49sec, 2 min 11sec, 1 min 8sec, 2 min 26sec, 2 min 49sec, and 1 min. GT had zero FG attempts. Louisville just folded again and again in the redzone. GT had possession for over 13 minutes LESS than Louisville because they had so many big chunk plays on drives of 64, 75, 66, 27, 51, 67, and 18 yards.

Besides their D acting as a sieve, the OL gave up 3 sacks and 8 TFL to a pedestrian front 7, not to mention the RBs fumbling 3 times. Their QB Cunningham shook off the injury he had to be carted off the field with 2 weeks ago before their bye with 14 carries. Under 58% completion and a QBR under 90...he was hit a bunch.

They do get one extra day before traveling to the Bend next week.

Schedule really looks like Pttt, Clemson, UNC, and maybe BC because of 5* Phil...which I hope Hamilton gets 3 INTs just like the old days in practice.

Yeah I watched the L'ville GTech crap fest and have little to add. They are both bad, especially on defense. Both QB's are "athletic" but will struggle big time vs a good defense that keeps them in the pocket.

L'ville looks like they have stalled already under Satterfield. They looked a lot like they did in their opener vs us last year. They can run off tackle but they have a spotty pass game and are prone to major breakdowns on defense. Like nobody tackles anybody breakdowns.

Gtech is not much different but they are very young. Their freshman QB and RB (Gibbs) look like they can really be good. I doubt if they'll be really good soon enough to be us this month however. And they have most of their kicks blocked.

The Gators are struggling a bit with the Aggies. Mizzou is tied with LSU, who doesn't appear to be much more than a pale shadow of last year's team.

Agreed. If ND wants a shot at the ACC they’re better off w/ the Convicts losing tonight IMO since ND doesn’t face UM head-to-head

Mizzou just blocked a field goal with 7 min left.

And just like that, Mizzou marches down the field. Up 45-41 with 5 minutes left.

TAMU field goal attempt to win again UF. Would be the biggest win for Jimbo at TAMU.

Mizzou stops them on 4th and goal and they upset LSU "on the road".

Ed O is 1-2 and is likely going to be unranked after winning it all last year. Woof.
