First practice starts on my birthday. I expect plenty of armchair analysis...es of the first videos as a gift.

Where's all the analysis?!

strange because II hinted earlier in the week that was a legitimate injury at RB (hence the interest in grad transfers)

So we don’t have a seriously-injures RB then?

They admitted in the video that they were obviously wrong

I wonder if the coaching staff put out some bunk info to see which of the media members are getting too loose with the info lol.

Either someone was way wrong and everyone else started hinting at it to look like they were in-the-know, or someone got caught being a mole.

Was nice to not see the track around the practice field. That indoor looks gorgeous.

Some notable heights and/or weights (IMO) from the Spring roster.

Botelho at 6'2 1/2 248. He's ready, lol

Ehrensberger at 6'6 7/8 247.

Flemister at 5'11 1/4 195. For comparison, Davis is listed at 5'11 205. Flemister needs that 10 lbs. asap.

Xavier Watt starting as an EE at 5'11 3/4 195 is a great start.

Daelin Hayes at 6/3 3/4 270.

Zeke Correll at 6'3 290. Lowkey huge weight gain here. That seems on track for a starting role in 21'.

Banks is listed at 335. Some of that weight needs to come off.

Any word/thoughts on Kyren Williams?
He is a mystery to me, as he basically disappeared after a game or two and a dropped swing pass last season. But it feels like he should be the most talented/natural RB currently on the roster (Tyree still being in high school). And we'll need one of those.

RB and DB are the most interesting position groups to me this offseason. I'm excited to see which backs stand out.

Jafar rolled out as the #1 with C’Bo working in behind him (with the 1’s). Then it was Smith and Kyren as 2a and 2b. Haven’t really read anything of significance on the RB’s from today. No pads and no tackling make it hard to evaluate, I imagine.

I’m going to assume the extra weight Banks is holding is due to recovering from foot surgery and the inability to do cardio. I thinks he had foot surgery?

Apparently this was an off-season issue but I’m not so sure I buy that as he was looking heavy and lumbering down the stretch last year. He moved better in 18’ than he did 19’. Need the 18’ athlete back with the 20’ technique.

I see. And I think we will see Banks in 2020 with 2018 athletic movement and 2020 technique. I just hope the coaxing staff can convince him for coming back for a 5th year...possibly as a tackle...

Another example of BK tweaking things to improve the team.

In Kelly's PC, he talked about the TE's having their own coach and the OC also being the QB coach. Provides more focus for the TE's, but the best part IMO is the OC being the QB coach. Makes the relationship tighter and the more time he spends with the QB allows him to marry the techniques of the position to the offense.

I'm expecting Book to take it to another level with this change.

Not sure how accurate this is coming from Driskell, but he's reporting that Offord and Bothelo have both struggled thus far off the field in their first semester.

I read that and was mildly concerned about Bothelo. I don't have high expectations for Offord so less concern there, but would hate to see Bothelo forced out for behavioral issues.

247 said Offord definitely didnt have the size and was not used to the speed of college. I think they are both the right type of athletes that they will adjust.

Bothelo i think we can find the right moments to put him into positions to succeed. Offord is gonna take a year or two if I had to guess.

Notre Dame is a long way from Hawaii, and from a public school in Mississippi. Some kids are going to struggle to adjust academically and culturally, but probably good they’re both there early and can focus on that part for a bit and not just the football.

mea culpa and sue me :D

how long have they been on campus? 3 months? not good if they are struggling that fast. hopefully getting back on the field can ease some worries and ND can get them the support they need.

Yeah, this early isn't a great sign but doesn't mean they're done. I had a rough couple first months in college and whipped it into high gear (granted I wasn't a student athlete lol)

But anytime I hear an EE with this, I get Tee Shepard flashbacks.

I failed chem 101 first semester freshman year as a chem major. Graduated double major with 3.0 gpa in biz MGMT and acct while playing football. Sometimes there really is an adjustment that needs to be made. But I had the right support that next semester to get me on a good track I could self maintain the rest of my college career. I certainly didn't go from Hawaii/Mississippi to Indiana either.

Seriously neither of them are needed on the field this season. Hopefully they can focus on getting used to college life and be in position to have a good experience.

Also I like to think Notre Dame and the football program knows what it’s doing when it comes to support systems for student-athletes. Maybe even more than they did in the days of Tee Shepherd and Aaron Lynch.

You guys wouldn't believe the koon trajectory from 2007 to now if I told you.

Not everyone gets it right out of the gate.

Maybe it's true but until Driskell turns out to be right on consecutive occasions with his 'rumors' I wouldn't be posting them. JMO. But I do think we should be above that. Guy is a hack and we should give him as little attention as possible. Like II and ISD noted, both practiced this week so could it really be that bad?

is Driskell even given press passes anymore? like does he get in to watch practice or naw? I don't see the purpose of the football program letting him anywhere near the Gug/Labar

All he said was "trouble adjusting to ND and not living up the standards of an ND football player" or something close to that.

Could be as simple as they were dicking around and not cleaning up their lockers the way BK expects, or they already tried to skip a class or something like that.

The whole "standards" line makes me think it was a house-keeping thing based on the "traits" and "expectations" that BK likes to talk about.

No use in getting alarmed about a player until they're mysteriously absent for multiple practices.

I almost was kicked out of the dorms my Frosh year for beating up a rival HS guy. Bought the guy a couple cases of beer the next morning to STFU and sweep it under the rug. Still found myself in coach’s office the next day to get cussed out/told to keep my nose clean. But then again, all my teammates we’re getting into some kind of trouble.

Ever since then things were fine until senior year when I caught DUI. I was only suspended for a few fall ball games though which weren’t all that important. College was crazy times but the school part was easy.

Judging by his articles on practice analysis and his video of BK presser, I’d say he was definitely there.
