The UNC game at UNC will be tricky. Mark my words. Mack Brown will have his team fired up.

I think everyone who watched them play last year or has even casually followed recruiting understands that Carolina football is back on the map for the foreseeable future. Looking ahead a couple years, with Clemson, OSU, and UNC, that’s probably 3 top-10 teams. Maybe we pulled it off in the late 80s, but this ain’t then.

Also am I reading correctly that all TV revenue will be "shared equally" among the schools? Meaning ND is trading 93% of our NBC money for 7% of the ACC's ESPN money?
Wouldn't that work in our favor?

That's right - Sampson on twitter called this a "major concession" but it doesn't seem that way to me? It seems like a minor loss of $ or maybe even a slight increase. Swarbrick has said in the past that being in a conference would actually be more financially lucrative than independence.
If the ACC deal was priced as a deal including Notre Dame, yes. But ND is taking a share of an ACC deal that does not include Notre Dame.

The winner here is ESPN, which is getting Notre Dame as if it were Syracuse.

Wouldn’t it be great to win the ACC and not really be in the ACC...

Well, NBC is still used for our home games. I believe ESPN / ABC tradtionally carried 4 to 5 of our road games. I don't see how this is substantially different for ESPN?

ACC conf tie-breaker

ACC conf tie-breaker

Curious to what the tie-breakers are for the top 2 teams IF there is a tie. It could even happen to where the top 3 teams could all be 9-1 in conf play.

No info but I think the standard procedure is record against mutual teams played, in descending order of standings.

Clemson and UNC are the two obstacles. Brown may have his team fired up, but you better believe Kelly will be using this opportunity (ACC schedule & chance for CG) as a little motivation as well.

Hopefully they keep Clemson and FSU in November. Then we light a candle at the grotto for an early winter blast.

Florida St always scares me just because of the talent they recruit. If they put it together, thats a potentially 9 win team. Also glad to see Orange won't take over the ND stadium like Red did when Georgia came to town

I think keeping the foot on the gas the whole game is as important now as ever, seeing as there will be no common opponents to rank teams off of. It's always been a thing with Kelly (except last year) that we get up by 28 and coast. We need to do that at 42 this year.

Per an article on espn.com, the NBC contract will be lumped in with the ACC money and shared equally. With a 10 game +1 and two open dates, we'll have to wait to see the schedule to know if we open with Navy or slot them in during an open date. Currently they are on the schedule before ACC play starts. They would have to move the game to SB as already noted.

ND joined a conference, and just like everyone predicted our schedule got MUCH easier. Basically replaced USC and Wisconsin with... Florida State and UNC?

*If* this season happens and ND doesn't get screwed by the refs, hard to see the Irish doing worse than ~9-2 or 8-2 if no Navy. They will be a TD favorite or more in most of these games. The BC game with Jurkovec is going to be VERY interesting.

if he hasn't gotten a waiver by now wouldn't it be unlikely he gets one?

I would think the D in particular would like to give him a parting gift.

SEC went conf only 10 game schedule. I doubt Ark was ND's first choice for their +1 but it's officially off the schedule now. This probably mostly impacts the ACC members plans for their +1's. UF/FSU, UGA/GT, Clem/SCar etc

BYU lost their four Sept games (Utah, Mich St, Ariz St and Minn) when the Big 10 and Pac 12 went to conference only scheduling as well as their last game of the season (Nov 28) with Stanford.

Now that the SEC is playing conference only games, they've lost a sixth game - Missouri (Oct 10). After the B10 and P12 announcements, they reportedly were filling their opening game of the season with Alabama, but that's now gone.

Now that the P5 conferences except the B12 have decided, BYU's remaining schedule include five Group 5 games.
Three are against Mountain West teams - Utah State (Oct. 2), Boise State (Nov. 6) and San Diego State (Nov. 14)
One is against a MAC team - Northern Illinois (Oct. 24)
One is against an American Athletic Conference - Houston (Oct. 16)

Group 5 conferences are expected to announce their schedules soon. Should those follow the conference only scheduling, BYU would be left with only one game against Northern Alabama.

Drop Navy; Play WMU at home.

Our national respect will come from Clemson regardless of the other opponents.

Hmm looking at that depth chart, I'm not sure that Cross is big enough to play SDE, right?
