Coaches were out to see him recently. I think this had been coming for a while. In terms of bigger receivers like maybe a Michael Redding, maybe he’s competing for that spot now. He’s a good 4* prospect at WR.

.9740 4* Jalen McMillan
.9572 4* AJ Henning
.9370 4* Michael Redding III
.8733 4* Rome Odunze
.8728 3* Xavier Watts
.8700 3* William Nixon

Nice board for WR’s. Hopefully add Roman Wilson to it and get to work on adding the best possible 2 for the program.

According to Bill Greene, ND is trying to get him on campus for a camp this summer. LOOOVE.

His camp highlights from the Opening / Rivals / UA were SO good. This guy is Khalid Kareem 2.0. The world slept on him for a long time and he's still under recruited.

He was my #2 behind McGregor at DE (Didn't think Botelho was really an option) until I moved Yurosek ahead of him... as that appears to be Plan B if McG Weasels out.

A boss move would be to send Der Panzer to prep school for a year and take Taylor this year. Botelho, McG and Taylor... I am greedy and drunk with success.

Isn't he already out of HS/gymnasium next year anyways? That could be a tough sell

Not a bad prospect, just wish he was taller. If he has long arms that might help him. He is very athletic and recovers well. Also sets the edge nicely. his first step is SO slow though. In his jr. film he looks so much slower off the snap than the rest of the line.

https://247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Notre-Dames-Lance-Taylor-hitting-the-state-of-Florida-hard-132114298/

Lance Taylor visiting my neck of the woods and visiting my alma mater today I believe (Palmetto). The funny thing is Loy mentions Marcus Rosemy, Jaylan Knighton and a bunch of other big time 2020 recruits as people that Taylor is in to see, but in reality I don’t think ND has any shot at any of the 4*+ south Florida recruits right now. I think this is more relationship building for the future with those high school coaches which is important and also checking in on some 2021 dudes who could become prospects for ND. Maybe they find an under-recruited 2020 dude down here but that’s real hard cause from Deerfield down to Miami (50 miles) there’s a ridiculous talent pool and recruiters practically live down here during evaluation periods. If you can play at all, they’ll offer you. I think this is a smart play for future classes, but I wouldn’t put too much stock in traction from 2020 kids this cycle.

You can only have one: Tyree or McGregor. Who and why?

Tyree any day of the week. ND has Isaiah Foskey, Nana Osafo-Mensah, Rylie Mills, Jordan Botelho, and Ade for another year. RB doesn’t have the 4* firepower or straight up talent that DE has right now. McGregor is a future stud at Drop but ND has a couple in the pipeline vs RB has some talent but I’m not all that impressed by it (other than hopefully Kyren).

I'll go McGregor. nD has seemed to find enough talent over the years at RB, not so much at DE. Our two best teams under Kelly had elite defenses. That's our path.

Gotta be Tyree and not sure it’s close for me. We got a lot of good things going on at both DE spots while I like some of the young Rb’s, none have what Tyree does which is truly elite speed

Tyree all day. McGregor is a great talent too but Tyree seems to be an elite playmaker which this team lacks.

I'm not sure which way I go, but we do not have a history of great DE's over the years and defense still wins championships. I convinced myself, McGregor.

An argument can definitely be made for both. I wouldn't disagree with anyone if they went with McGregor or Tyree.

Tyree is an offensive talent that Notre Dame hasn't had in my recent memory. Terrific speed and if he finds open space, good luck catching him. He can be used in so many different ways and its hard not to get excited about a player like Tyree when you think about what you already have at WR, TE, OL, and even QB.

McGregor is about the surest thing to a multi year starter that we remain in contention with on the d-line. Someone could make a strong argument for McGregor because we have to remember what got us to the playoffs this past season; the defense, and the defensive line and pass rush in particular. Right now, the cupboards are full and the future is bright. But, man, it's be nice to pull a Clemson or Bama move and pull off a "the rich get richer" kind of commitment.

From a depth chart perspective, I think it has to be Tyree. From an upside perspective, I'll probably go with McGregor. Since we have had d-line classes the last 2-3 cycles and have a pass rusher like Botelho already in the fold, I'll go with Tyree if I had to pick between the two.

II Podcast has some interesting points on today’s show.

1) doesn’t look good for the fans of being at 85 on game day in Louisville. ND’s at 86 and they mentioned 18 scholarship DLineman and 13 LBers as being too much and some guys might not love that. Shaun Crawford is not a guarantee for a 5th year as much as people think because he wants to play and play a lot if possible which ND likely won’t offer. Trevor Ruhland could be a medical but might wait to see how camp goes.

2) Tyree likely to ND. With McGregor, Prister sounds very confident but that doesn’t mean too much, Sampson mentioned the 51-49 thing in favor of ND but it’s really a coin toss, and they mentioned that ND has fires all of its bullets in terms of recruiting pitches and did almost everything they could. Prister then mentioned his guess is McGregor to Michigan, O’Malley took 49% and Sampson said 50.% for ND.

3) Tosh Baker and Michael Carmody and be fine with it. That’s what II thinks. That would put 15 scholarship projected for the 2020 season which is totally fine. Sampson mentioned Atteberry as someone who is solid but not spectacular and that’s what they’re looking for in this class right now. In other classes, they think guys like Atteberry and Zinter would be takes. Taking 1 RB and 2 OL opens up some potential spots for maybe an extra LBer or DB or an extra BPA (Cody Simon anybody?)

I know its not scholarship players that would be starting, but just for depth we would also have several walkons that could provide meaningful reps. Grunhard should be a senior in 2020 and there was talk that he could play if needed. We just got Quinn Murphy and he had some real good film and good size. We also got two more in 2018 that I don't know how they are going.

So while we might only have 15, I don't think we are going to have to worry about not having enough bodies for three lines in practice.

Quinn Murphy - SO
Max Siegel - JR
Colin Grunhard - SR

ND’s got 3 WO’s at OL which is excellent. That’s got them at 18 for the 2020 season right now which is perfect considering injuries and attrition happen all the time at OLine.

I'd go McGregor. Think both will be very good but I think McGregor is a future first round draft pick. Early first round pick. Dude is just scratching the surface of his potential and is an athletic freak. Kid's gonna be really good wherever he ends up and I really hope it's ND. Seems like a perfect fit for ND too. Plus ND/Elston have been on him forever...would be a real gut punch if he went elsewhere but he's the type I will root for anywhere he goes.

Not a unique take but I'd go Tyree over Mcgregor only because of pure positional need. As a football player I'd say McGregor is the more likely to start 2 years and go high in the draft.

I could be jinxing myself but Mcgregor's recruitment just feels like a Manti recruitment, head whisperers he's going to a rival but heart screams ND.

Really? Losing Crawford would suck. We should work to keep him. But also at this point - post-spring-ball, with his injury history - is he really going to be able to go somewhere worth going to and walk in and play more than he would as ND’s primary nickel?

At this moment in time, I don't see much benefit in keeping him if it puts a younger player at risk of not being on scholarship and resulting him potentially leaving. Crawford is limited in what positions he can play (slot corner and thats about it).

My tune could change if the injury bug hit (knock on wood), but I'd rather make sure Marist Liufau was on scholarship.

Your statement about Crawford playing Nickel is valid, but he hasn't showed anyone that he can stay healthy and be reliable for a full season. So we don't have a reason to put Crawford at Nickel with confidence.

If you're wondering about academics, he has offers from Duke and Vandy so that checks out. I'm hesitant because I can't remember the last time we've landed someone from Mississippa. Anyways, per Tom, he's a strong offer candidate this week.

As DB recruiting goes, it's a little odd considering what they got last cycle. Maybe it's just not a good class for ND? Any top tier defensive backs seem like long shots at best. Hopefully 2021 is better.

So what you're saying is Offord has yet to be offered? No offer for Offord?

I'll show myself out.
