Week one is in the books... the SEC looked like an absolute mess outside of their top teams (lol) and the Irish also looked like a mess, kind of. However, they've got a bye to try and get things straightened out, so sit back on Saturday and enjoy a stress-free day of watching the world's greatest sport.


FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

#24 Boise State vs Marshall - 9:00 PM - ESPN2
- There are three other games on, but this is honestly the only one worth watching
- Boise State and their true frosh QB came back against FSU last week... Boise back?

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

Ohio @ Pittsburgh - 11:00 AM - ACCN
- Brunch Football

#5 Ohio State vs Cincinnati - 12:00 PM - ABC
- Explosive OSU offense against a really good Cincinnati defense
- Luke Fickell returns home and tries to upset his former squad
- Go Bearcats

#7 Michigan vs Army - 12:00 PM - FOX
- scUM's offense needs to be at its best against a team that will drain the clock
- Shea Patterson got banged up last week
- I hope you took Army and the points... UPSET ALERT

#20 Iowa vs Rutgers - 12:00 PM - FS1
- Rutgers actually threw the ball well for the first time in years last week
- Upset alert for a home favorite that might be sleepwalking at noon?

#21 Syracuse @ Maryland - 12:00 PM - ESPN
- Maryland is probably going to be good under Mike Locksley... but how quickly?
- Dino Babers gets to coach against an opposing coach that will actually be on the sidelines this week

Vanderbilt @ Purdue - 12:00 PM - BTN
- Man, the noon slate is packed with semi-interesting games this week
- Rondale Moore is fun to watch, despite Purdue's lackluster start to the year
- Does Brohm right the ship and get back onto the NDFHCCWL at some point?

#12 Texas A&M @ #1 Clemson - 3:30 PM - ABC
- GAME OF THE DAY. Defending Champ vs team trying to announce itself as BACK
- It's awesome to see such a big home-and-home playing out
- The Aggies almost pulled an upset last year before Lawrence took over at Clemson... do they have the juice this year?

BYU @ Tennessee - 7:00 PM - ESPN
- Does Tennessee get their act together after getting absolutely embarrassed last week?
- BYU could knock Tennessee out of contention for a bowl game after just two games for the Vols (!)

#6 LSU @ #9 Texas - 7:30 PM - ABC
- WHAT A TRIPLE-HEADER ON ABC
- Another awesome home-and-home to see
- Is Texas Back??? Or does Joe Burrow take the next step as an actual successful QB at LSU?

#10 Auburn vs Tulane - 7:30 PM - ESPN2
- I'm calling my shot... putting Auburn on UPSET ALERT right now
- Big Game Hangover + a surprisingly capable Tulane = at least close in the first half

Miami @ North Carolina - 8:00 PM - ACCN
- Another evening game to check during commercials if you want

#14 Washington vs California - 10:30 PM - FS1
- Former UGA QB Jacob Eason leads UW's offense vs one of the better defenses in the country
- Can Cal's offense catch up to their defense and make the Bears a surprise PAC12 contender?

#23 Stanford @ USC - 10:30 PM - ESPN
- Battle of the backup QB's? KJ Costello is out for Stanford with a concussion, and JT Daniels is out for the year for USC
- A big matchup is suddenly kind of meh
- Night cap

Minnesota @ Fresno State - 10:30 PM - CBSSN
- Might actually be the most entertaining of the three 10:30 PM games
- Another 'night cap' option for commercials during the other games

I cannot state my excitement for ABC's triple-header.

Bearcats early. Defending champs in the middle of the day. LSU/Texas at night.

That's a huge flex for ABC right there. Keep ABC on the big TV, put the peripheral games on the side TVs throughout the day. Gonna be a good day of not worrying about ND, and just enjoying football.

Got the TV, grill, coolers, all set. Gong to be a fabulous Saturday with no injury/loss concerns to speak of for ND.

LSU is now a 6.5 - 7 favorite over the host Longhorns. Is LSU legit? Herman has a very good record against top 10 teams.

A&M back? When were they there except for the short stay when Johnny Football was there? Clemson rolls.

Look for Cincy to make a few OSU sphincters pucker before Buckeyes win late.

This is the type of slate that excites me. Unless Clemson blows out Texas A&M there will be something exciting to watch every minute of the day.

I think Fickell is going to have some things ready to confuse Justin Fields early in the game. Plus the Bearcat defense is just legit at all three levels.

But like you say, I think Ohio State is just too deep and has too much speed... they're going to pull away late and end up winning by a couple scores.

The caveat is if the UC offense operates much more clean than they did in week one while the defense forces turnovers on the plus side of the field... then there could be legit 4th quarter drama.
