This is just poor taste. It may have been a bad decision or it may have been necessary for him. We can't change the past.

Ok, well thats your opinionman. Maybe If he starts riding the bike on concussion protocol, BK will invite him back.

I honestly think he was forced out....

I feel bad for Julian, but selfishly wish he would have stayed.

Guessing right about now, he is second guessing it a bit. But I don't know why he pulled the trigger, so maybe not. I'm just hoping he ends up with a good franchise.

My overall assessment...given the numbers of guys being drafted from places not on the map, so to speak, and seriously, some I've never heard of, I think GMs are playing it too cute. Seems like they are more worried about their image as some sort of talent eval guru than understanding the odds favor you if you spread your risk among "conventional" selections. You take a flyer on podunk guys in the 6th and 7th round...but rounds 2 and 3...really? Some of these guys...hell, the level of competition they faced make them more likely to be a mirage than an oasis, now add in all the other shit that can go wrong to derail a draft pick...man some of these guys are going to be hot dog vendors very soon.

To be completely fair to julian, he is better than at least half of those corners that got taken. Just looking at the list the only ones I see better are Baker, Greedy, and Mullen. You could make a case for Rock but IMO Julian is better.

It’s criminal Love hasn’t been drafted yet. I don’t see how one can watch the season and not get the impact he had on the game. Shoot, you would really only need to see the Clemson game to see the impact he had as a single player. How he impacted the game reminded me of Suh in his Nebraska days.

Well that makes no sense. The guy was pretty much the model Notre Dame student athlete.

I too wish he’d stayed. But my guess would be the reason he fell in the draft is the one thing he can’t change: his measurable. The guys being picked over him, especially in the third round, are bigger, taller, faster than Love will ever be. Apparently that matters more than actually being a great cornerback, because the NFL guys figure they can teach the position.
It’s dumb, but it does work both ways (do we really think Myles Boykin got picked in the 3rd round based on his performance in college?)

Anyway, can’t undo what’s been done, but I sure wouldn’t mind having Love back next year.

I read a comment this morning from Chris Carter crying that Haskins was taken after Jones. He is saying that its Racist. Yet just last year the Washington post posted an article that 70% of the NFL is black. So again a columnist is again just running his mouth. And to further my point 6 of the first 32 picks were white. This is why racism won’t die because of stupid comments like this. If your upset because you think talent got over looked I understand that but don’t make it racial just because of that. But like most things this isn’t Chris’s first comments like this.

I am sick of hearing this bullshit. Was he the best player for our style? What does he do better than others? How was his interview when we sat down with? That’s why jones got picked before Haskins. In the giants opinion Jones was the best talent they needed at the best time available. That’s all that matters.

While I would normally agree with you, in the context of the Gettleman's comments it seems more likely than without context. I don't think its actually the case (Gettleman might just be incompetent considering he didn't know what the big ten was called), but the context definitely gives it more credence than no context. I mean its pretty widely know that some implicit and explicit biases occur in the scouting process. This is a pretty good article about the biases that seem to be happening as well as ones that NFL personnel have acknowledged happened. Especially at the QB position where that 70% stat does not hold (as well as for coaches and front offices), there has been much talk of possible implicit or explicit biases which make those positions not reflect the rest of the league. So really the question isn't whether this is something that does happen, but specifically if its something that occurred in this scenario.

Haskins seems like he could be annoying to some people, living in ultra-confidence, health wealth, blessings, fantasy land. Maybe that’s why?

Rosen seemed really annoying last year. He lived in “I think I’m a fearless truth-teller, but really I’m just a spoiled 20 yo who everyone has to tolerate because I’m really good at football” world. I wouldn’t have drafted him.

The point is, QBs don’t blend in, Personality matters more.

4.8 is 4.8 and weren’t his bench reps quite weak as well? Was he a player? Heck yes but at this level. He should have stayed and trained with Troy Pride and tried to get that number to 4.6ish while boosting his bench reps. What grade did he get? 3rd or fourth round? Looks like they nailed it. A little bit of Karma for teasing us with comments about staying. Like Chris Finke he is football fast though but 4.8shoukd not Ben in the first 3 rounds unless you are a defensive tackle.

Looks like Dru is dropping and Bars is way down the guard list. Would love to see Love next followed by Dexter then Dru, Coney and Alize. Bars would be a nice constellation. He is suffering because he couldn’t put any numbers up.

Wonder if Love had a chance for a do over if he would do it? If he doesn’t go in the fourth you can bet on it.

They only give First Round and Second Round grades. IIRC, he got neither. But most guys don't.

Everyone has their reasons but Love seemed - and sounded - like one who might stay, even though he'd probably done everything he could do at Notre Dame on the field. Maybe he would have benefited from another year working on his speed and strength, hard to say. Also he would have gotten his degree and been a captain, neither of which is anything to sneeze at. One factor I don't know: Is next year's class corner class deeper, less deep, than this years'?

Either way, shocked if he's not taken in the 4th, and some team will have gotten a steal.

I don't know why Haskins dropped, but damn he didn't even seem happy or grateful to be drafted. He just seemed pissed that he didn't go higher. That's pretty annoying. Maybe was thrilled but if so they did not do a good job of showing it on tv and social media.

Also where are you reading that Love ran a 4.8? His athletic testing numbers are pretty much identical to Chris Harris Jr

He ran an official 4.54 at the combine, and a 4.45 at his pro day.

If the Bengals get one of Mack Wilson or Tevon Coney, I will be thrilled with their draft... even with a reach on Sample, when they likely could’ve traded that pick to get Rosen, and then picked Sample later instead of Finley.
