Nolan Groulx, a 4* WR who’s a much more realistic target than Derrian Brown. I would love to add him to ND’s roster.

Since we've apparently begun wrapping up the class, and most of the really big expected names are finalized: Out of curiosity for our local recruiting gurus Crusader and co., in your opinions did the verbals live up to the "this years defensive line haul is going to be so f**king sick" hype? I feel whelmed. Should I be more excited than I am?

If we would've landed Anderson, I would've been over the moon about this class. We were all lined up until he didn't hold up his end in the classroom. Still a very good class but a Cross/Anderson swap away from being "f**cking sick"

Jamir Jones moving to DE allowed for this DLine class to be smaller than 6-7 guys. So far they have 4 4* commits so it’s pretty much 4/4 in my book. They really need to have 5 guys in this DLine class and it looks like the 5th will likely be a lower rated developmental guy as the big fish are pretty much decided at this point. They of course could end up with a flip or someone surprising takes an OV and falls in love so hard to pass judgement yet. I’d say 3 scenarios...

4 4*’s B - hits on talent. light by 1-2 guys on numbers.
4 4*’s & 1 3* B+ - hits on talent. Solid with numbers.
5 4*’s A - excellent talent. Solid with numbers.

Now I’d say Joshua Pakola, Bralen Trice, Ty Robinson, and Isaiah Foskey would be considered 4* additions to the class but that’s just my opinion and there is always time for a flip because flipping season is just ramping up (4 months until NSD and another 1 1/2 months until Feb NSD). A long way to go to add some talent to the DLine group. It’s off to a near perfect start

I’d agree, very good class. And 1 complete SDE from being “f’ing sick”, lol. Anderson would’ve been one of those guys. We still have a shot at Trice for Sept 1st. And I’d be very surprised if other names didn’t surface throughout the year.

As I’ve said before, every cycle there are guys that end up in the class that weren’t on the radar at this time. Last year it was Griffith, Boykin, and Patterson to name a few. Those were huge additions.

Have we had a better D-line haul since 2011? Also might be the best O-line haul since at least 2014 on paper. IMO assuming this class stays together this will be our best back to back recruiting classes in the Kelly era.

On paper this DL class certainly looks that way. And the 16’ class wasn’t a complete class, lacking any DT’s. But, I think the foursome of Kareem/Hayes/Okwara/Ade could be very productive the next 2 years.

This is key. These are the classes you have to put together if you want to be in playoffs. You can't have glaring holes or missed positions. You must stack talent, especially if you aren't pulling in 2-3 5 stars/class.

I really believe Kelly can put us in the playoffs with these classes. I just hope we can keep the momentum going because this is the most solid our program has looked in a long time.

We've caught fire a few seasons and then died down. Kelly appears poised to take the next step.

I think it is definitely a quality D line haul. As everyone else said get ready for flip season. Something always happens. Also new guys get the spotlight a la Malik Langham late in the year. His rating change was crazy. Do I think Nate Leskovec gets that same rating change? Doubtful but another name.could emerge too. Overall I am very pleased with it.

Notre Dame please recruit this kid. A noble crusader against an evil cause should be welcomed with open arms.

Wish it was Cade Stover.

I really liked Patterson last year but he's coming off an ACL and they already have his physical package in Kiser. If there's one smaller LB I'd take a swing at it's KJ Wallace's teammate, Nick Jackson. If they want a bigger LB obviously there's Tommy Eichenberg and Pitt commit Brandon George who was way under valued/recruited.

That being said, watch Patterson become the next Scooby Wright.

Yeah I'd rather have a Tommy eichenberg ot nick Jackson type. I think kane is a rover who.could be a buck at some.point. I feel like we need mike buck hybrids more right now

Really wondering if Michigan and Texas have bad years and we can flip Ojabo and Kenyatta Watson.

from what i was told, he had a way to go on his development and we were kind of not all in on him...so unless something changed which i am not really invested in recruiting anymore so it certainly could have changed...

Ojabo was a strange and fast recruitment. I’m not sure he’s one the staff puts a lot of time into at this point. But if things go bad for Michigan and Harbaugh starts to look like a short-timer maybe he’d look around again? I’d think coaching uncertainty there (or at Ohio State for that matter) might put a few of our former targets back in play. Not many spots to work with though.

Anyone know how our 2019 guys are doing this season? Haven't seen a lot of news/articles come out since the season started (not surprised). I'm especially interested to know how Nana, Clark, and Okwonu are doing. I remember seeing Karen balling out, thats good to see as I think he'll do very well in South Bend.

I wonder if Alohi Gilman has the staff looking for the next Alohi.........

Punahou three-star defensive back, Marist Liufau. Says he's been in contact with Polian and he actually has for awhile. Not sure it goes anywhere, but fun tape to watch.

Man, at least we'll have another year of Alohi, right? Good safety play is something we haven't seen in a long time
