Was listening to the 7-6 BGI Podcast about recruiting and there’s definitely a lot of positivity with the class for sure. Tremendous job by the staff to fill up the needs of the class with plenty of time to go after the big fish. The remaining need is DE but for the most part all other positions are pretty well accounted for. In terms of LBer Driskell mentioned two studs from California in Asa Turner and Tristan Sinclair who the staff loves and mentions they would probably take both if they both wanted in. With the LBer position being strong in terms of numbers, it makes me even more curious as to why they took Jack Kiser. He’s a solid recruit but the list of guys interested in ND is extensive and impressive...

.9843 4* Henry To’oto’o - made his top 8
.9561 4* Maninoa Tufono - made his top 14
.9160 4* Nick Henrich
.9085 4* David Gbenda
.8974 4* Tristan Sinclair
.8963 3* Asa Turner

I know ND is probably not leading for any of those 6 dudes but there’s definitely some interest from those recruits and it’s not like ND has a numbers need at the LBer position. Would the staff still take 2 of those dudes above if they wanted in??

1. Because he's an elite athlete compared to all of ND's current LB's with only Sinclair matching his speed.

2. If/when ND gets only one... or neither Sinclair/Turner, Kiser has the physical skill set to play either Buck or Rover.

3. Most importantly, because Clark Lea personally targeted, developed a relationship and put his hands on him in a one on one work out. I've been a harsh critic of ND recruiting all too often unfortunately but the targeting & development Lea/Elko did at Wake was uber impressive. The immediate identification and acquisition of JOK & JGH as soon as they hit the ground at ND was equally impressive. The '18 LB class was one of the top in the country. Jack Kiser may never be a star at ND but it will be excellent to elite players that keep him from starting if so.

I think Kiser is going to turn out to be very good.

Unfortunately most of those guys won't commit. I think henrich would be my pick between all of them because he can play drop if needed.

Isaiah Foskey coming to ND during late July recruiting week. Interesting to see how that visit goes and what comes of the visit with the 2019 TE class being a question mark as to whether or not we even take a TE.

Didn't want to make a new thread but dream finish for ND below

WR - Hooper/Johnson/Abur Rahmin
OT - Rouse/Vimhai/None
DE - Trice/Pakola/Robinson/Dawkins/MJ Anderson
LB - Henrich/Sinclair
CB - Rutherford/Williams/McDuffie

Now some of them I don't think we land but based on the targets we have thems my picks.

People we need to pursue/offer

WR - Kaheem Waleed
LB - Nick Jackson
DE - JJ Weaver/Tremon Morris Brash/RJ Oben

Still think we should take a run at a few more RBs.

Agreed.

Look at the attrition last year

If Nd has a run of issues ( injury, performance, grades, home sickness.....,)

The cupboard could be pretty bare to run through the 2019 with only a few options.

Interesting follows for a Georgia prospect with numerous ND connections.

RMannellyPic6.jpg

Ryan Mannelly's an unrated 6-3/230 - DE/OG/LS with an offer from Army.

On D, he had 13 Sks, 11 TFL & 14 QBH. He was First Team All Dekalb County and HM All State. Also plays baseball.

He has follows from both the recruiting & coaching staff.

Here's the interesting stuff:

Current teammate of Kyle Hamilton at Marist School.

Dad is Bernard Mannelly who was a lineman for Lou in the late 80's - early 90's.

Uncle is Patrick Mannelly, the greatest LS in NFL history who played 16 seasons with the Bears. Had 2200+ career snaps without a miscue. Mannelly still works in Chicago doing sports radio. Patrick played at Duke and was actually drafted by the Bears as a LS.

I know the Irish got PWO LS Michael Vinson out of IL last cycle but it seems Mannelly would be a multi-faceted all around PWO.

Probably too many. Good size, a lot of production at a good school/schedule... and has a DI offer before his senior year. He'll get more. Has prototype LS size too. If he ends up at ND, it's because Dad didn't mind footing the bill.

Anbody read anything connecting OT Joey Price and ND? Interesting prospect. Has all the B1G West minus WI and IA + Iowa State... plus Duke which I missed. Secondhand word from a rival coach thinks ND might be in play. He does have some follows with the staff. Well spoken kid. I had JJ Guedet over him last winter and Walter Rouse of course at the top. I went to look at his film again and he turned it to private. Never understand why they do that(?)

A tight end huh?

No info on this but I wouldn't read too much into this, at this time. If a quality national recruit and program fit wants to unofficial to your campus, then why not put on a great show for the kid. Meaning, I think this is less about TE being seen as a need in this class and the staff just continuing to recruit BPA's.

Loy CB Abdur Rahmin to ND. Also I like the strategy that ND is doing with WR this cycle. They are getting athletes first (Cam Hart) who could play defensive back as well. I think it is smart given the big WR haul last year and helps with 2020 recruiting where I think WR's like ND better than the 2019 WRs.

On top of that, you should always be kind to mega programs (especially the Catholic ones) like DLS. When one of their players wants to roll through, you are recruiting the program as much as you are that individual prospect. Last thing you want is for a guy with pull going back and saying, F*** ND, they didn't even wanna see me... like their 4-8 azz is too good. Does you no favors with their staff or the impressionable future 4 & 5 star freshmen and sophomores on their roster.

Well maybe their high school football movie should've been better
