I will be shocked if this game is a blowout.

Clemson will be jacked up for this one. we are everything they despise. a clean program with athletes who go to class and payment comes via the education you earn at ND, not handouts.

I expect a very close game similar to Tallahassee last year, but hopefully a different outcome in our favor.
We won that game.

Dont be shocked. Clemson has laid some REALLY BIG stinkers at home against big competition. That being said I think Clemson is highly over valued this year and ND handles them fairly well. I think a +/-9 to 14 point game is reasonable.

My concern is the speed on the outside against Luke and Russell. Clemson has receivers that can get loose for huge plays. I look for them to try and attack Schmidt and Onwualu with speedy receivers. I am hoping we spend more time with 5 dbs on the field personally.

This, as well as the Redfield/Shumate combo seem to be susceptible in the pass game.

We'll need to get pressure early and often to keep Watson from having the time to let some of those throws develop.

Did you watch that whole game? Or Louisville - Auburn? They're garbage.

A. They're not garbage. They're not great, but they're not garbage.

B. How many 'garbage' teams have we lost to? How many garbage teams have we NOT blown out?

C. How did we look against Virginia? Should we base our team off of that?

We could and probably should win, but a blowout on the road at night against a top 15 team with some serious talent? Nah. They have a lot of time to prepare for ND, and we still haven't proven ourselves against an uptempo team. Plus they have a lot of young talent over there and a dynamic (if inconsistent) QB that can make plays with his legs. How many running QB's have absolutely torched ND the past 5 years? I'm talking, garbage QB's too. Louisville's QB that torched us can't even win the job this year, but he had no problem against ND.

Vbucks on it? I'll take Clemson plus 17 (that would be considered a blowout, no?).

I think one of two things will happen that will keep this a close game (hopefully not both).

A) Kizer makes a few mental errors because of the atmosphere (Death Valley night game) and speed Clemson has on defense.

B) Kelly plays it ultra conservative and relies heavily on the run game which keeps us in a field position, defensive battle all night.

Whatever we did against Oklahoma in '12, do it here.

That is still my favorite game of the BK era for how perfectly we played. Kizer will be making start #3 and Golson was making start #7...but had already been pulled from 2 games. Hoping BK shows some trust in him on the road like he did with Golson that game.

Clemson is the hardest game we have left on the schedule. USC has more talent, but we have them at home... and Kizer gets two more weeks of getting better. Clemon's two weeks+ off since their last game will help them too. DeShaun Watson is really freaking good, and does anyone know if their WR will be back?

Clemson isn't great on the OL, and we should be able to win up front. Their defense will probably be the most athletic and well-coached group we've played so far... so the bigger question to me is if "CJ for 200 yards + throw up ducks to Will Fuller" is actually a viable strategy like it was against GT.

The way I see this season, we're in a situation where we need to simply stay as healthy as possible and get "lucky-ish" twice against Clemson/USC. After that, we match up well with every team remaining on the schedule and you let the chips fall where they may.

Strongly disagree. Clemson just isn't that good this year. Maybe they haven't put it all together yet but I feel like their offense is relatively vanilla and their defense isn't talented enough to stop our offense. We can beat Clemson even if they play at their absolute best.

USC on the other hand has some absolute studs at a lot of key positions. QB, WR, Safety to name a few. You don't want to play a team where a QB and WR can just take over the game. You want to play the team that you know you can beat on their best day. USC is not a team we can beat when they play up to their potential.

PLUS the USC game is after Navy and we tend to struggle the week after playing the Midshipmen.

I think USC is more difficult because they likely have a better defense overall, and their OL is good whereas Clemson's allegedly sucks. But I do think Clemson's defense is going to be tough, I just think USC's is going to be tougher, unless they drop another game before us.

Yea I agree that if USC loses again before they play us that game becomes much more manageable.

There is no evidence that USC has a good OL, but there is evidence that their OL is not very good this year. Right now they are 100% hype on individual projections.

They were still good enough to put up 31 on a defense people respect. Idk, I'm just scared of Kessler and JuJu going crazy and Cravens causing havoc.

Not because of their OL though. They've played 3 games this year and they've graded out VERY BAD in two of them. They put up points despite their OL, because their skill position players are stupid good per usual.

I mean... they gave up 6 sacks in a single game to freaking Arkansas State.

This board is so bi-polar. After the Texas game we were going to stomp everyone on the schedule and beat Virginia by 35 pts. After the Virginia game and Malik's injury we were a 6-6 crap fest who were going to get smoked by GT. Now After the Georgia Tech game we are going to blow out Clemson in death valley. I absolutely fell into this trend of thinking after both the Texas and Virginia games. I'm trying to temper my expectations going into Death Valley.

I think there's room for both Lax and gk to be right. SC's individual quality at the skill positions makes them very dangerous. If we get off to a bad start, they can and will embarrass us.

But they're also soft and entitled. So if we come out and smack them in the mouth repeatedly, they'll quit before half-time.

About 99.9% chance he is out for the ND game. He is still in a neck brace and obviously not practicing therefore.

Terrible for him, but big for us. He was their main deep threat. Artavis Scott is a stud but everything he catches is behind the line of scrimmage really.

I didn't realize that he got hurt. That is huge news. Injuries have been crazy this year. I hate it for these kids though, regardless of the team they play for. The work that they put in to have it all taken away in an instant is heartbreaking.

Gotta be honest, if Gameday went to Bloomington, I'd probably have to go get drunk down there with my friend. That'd be awesome.

Bloomington? Muncie has just a good chance having Gameday than Bloomington. But you're right, I'd have to make that trip too!!
