Ouch fallen to the #12 class with Penn State. Miami, and USC behind us.

This is gonna be a small class so more than likely we finish outside the top 10 and possibly the top 15. What matters more is our class average. That will be top 10 which is plenty good enough for to compete for a national championship especially paired with last years class.

I agree on avg being more important, but not sure we will end up top 10 avg this year. We're right on the bubble (10ish, 90 avg) and I only see our avg dropping. Our current avg is good enough to be 12th right now (last year's avg ratings). I think we'll likely end up 88 or 89 avg, and somewhere 14-18 in avg, and 15-20 total. I think we'll end up with 4 more commits, with 1 equal to or greater than 90. If we kill it this year, that could change. There are several schools that we recruit against with hot seat coaches that impact things as well late in the cycle. Perhaps some of our three star kids get a boost this year as well and help our ratings. Gonna be close.

Average could drop, but with us being so selective with the last 2-3 spots I could see that avg rising. Either way I really like this class and I don't care where it ends up being ranked. I honestly think this will be a top 3 overall class in the Kelly era (so far) despite being a little smaller.

ND is still in it with plenty of 4* guys. I don’t think they lead for very many of them but they don’t have a ton of spots so I don’t think they’ll be filling it with .8500 3*’s unless they miss out on all their 4* prospects which is also plausible. ND isn’t looking great to finish inside the top 10 in avg score or overall rankings which is disappointing but they chose a couple of guys over higher rated guys. Chez Mellusi was a no-no along with Jirehl Brock and instead they went after Kyren Williams. They didn’t pass on 4* receivers but instead they missed on a bunch of guys and for their one spot they ended up with a .8600 3* who’s ranked 660th in the nation. QB is defined by would’ve, should’ve, could’ve in that they had Cade McNamara who was a flake, had Dylan Morris who they told no, and had a ton of interest from Graham Mertz but he didn’t make the cut back in the day and when they circled back he said thanks but no thanks so they end up with .8702 3* Brendon Clark. At LBer they missed on Brandon Smith, Cade Stover, Nick Henrich, Tristan Sinclair, and Asa Turner. They picked up Jack Kiser for that second linebacker spot who has a .8626 3* rating.

Having said all of that, ND hit on all of their numbers needs and it’s august. I haven’t even mentioned anyone committed to another school who may flip in the fall (a couple hundred prospects will de commit between now and NSD). There have been zero gameday official visits which are usually good times to visit ND. The coaches haven’t been able to go into living rooms yet (11/25-12/15). Coaches on the hot seat haven’t been fired yet (Urbie might be close). And ND hasn’t played a game yet which usually has an affect on recruits if a team has a good season (it shouldn’t but it almost always does). So there is a lot of time between now and December’s signing period to boost that recruiting rating and fill even more needs for their roster.

imo, staff has done a great job with this year's group --- POWERFUL lines and overall defense --- the marks of dangerous teams. We are already loaded with our QB and TE assembly line and some wunderkind WRs. If they could pull off a dazzler at RB this would better than I could hope for in any reasonable way.

Peace. The number of the complex doesn't count. The game is played when half the recruited studs turn into quality starters. I easily see that in this bunch.

Kristofric and Hamilton's rating, even though they were bumped, are still kind of low.

I really like the class as well, at least at most positions. RB and WR are a meh though. Not concerned though with WR given last year's class and overall youth at the position. RB is probably my top concern. If I had my wish, it would RB, DE, CB, and WR.

Unless we kill it this year (top 10), or there's a coaching change or other situation where we get a flip, I don't think we improve on overall avg. Wouldn't bother me a bit though.

Kristofric and Hamilton's rating, even though they were bumped, are still kind of low.

I think Kristofic is our best chance for a nice bump. Hamilton should as well, but wouldn't be shocked if he didn't.

Based on the current needs does anyone think there is a position ND needs to get in this cycle that they don't have a commit for yet? I was thinking SDE but it looks bleak right now.

I still want a 2nd RB personally but another DE is important to me also.

I don't want a classic SDE as I'd rather have one of my hand selected WDE's cuz NaNa's gonna be bigger than Daelin and Khalid.

I like RJ at SDE better than drop. If he gonna play drop I think he needs some work on his explosiveness.

Agreed on SDE for Oben. I wouldn't plan on him ever playing Drop. When your dad was a 300+ lb starting LT for a decade, there's some genetic code working against you staying at his current weight which is heavier than Okwara has struggled to get too. On top of that, his film doesn't say Drop anyways.

Some interesting follows between team Oben and ND lately btw. Duke has to be sweating.

I saw Shittahs film and he is a way better drop candidate. Not clunky like RJ Oben. Way more speed and agility.

Agreed again.

Here's a tweener like Colt Ellison that is definitely worth a look. Film says way underrated, offer list is more in line. Treven Ma'ae.

**RECRUITING NEWS!**

Recruiting news has taken a back seat, but Loy put in a CB for DE Nate Leskovec. I think I remember someone bringing him up earlier.

they must really like him because his rating sucks. Watched his film again and he is a good run stopper and has a high motor. Plays really hard and tough. Don't think he can play drop. Doesn't seem athletic enough. Does anyone know what kind of competition he play against?

I might be in the minority on this one but I'm glad they are showing interest in this young man. And they are being honest with him about his place on the board and he seems receptive to that.

If Derrian Brown is actually interested then I hope ND goes after him hard. Would be a fantastic addition to the backfield

I find this hard to believe, even though I agree with you. Would love Brown. I think Loy is just trying to get clicks. I only read Sinclair info anymore.
