Week two isn't super strong, but there are a few big games, and some others that offer intrigue.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

8:00 PM - #16 TCU @ SMU - ESPN2
- The Horned Frogs looked good in week one, while SMU looked bad in a loss to North Texas
- What might have been an intriguing matchup might be a blowout, but it's football, so tune in

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8

12:00 PM - #18 Mississippi State @ Kansas State - ESPN
- Not super intriguing, but the noon slate is garbage
- Joe Moorehead might be on ND's radar to replace BK some day, so watch his MSU squad

12:00 PM - Arizona @ Houston - ABC/ESPN2
- Arizona laid an egg in week one. Can Kahlil Tate get on track and make big plays?
- Houston's Ed Oliver will terrorize the 'Zona OL. He's a joy to watch.

12:00 PM - Duke @ Northwestern - ESPNU
- Battle of the Nerds
- Northwestern looked legit against Purdue, at least on defense. Scout the future opponent.

1:00 PM - UCLA @ #6 Oklahoma - FOX
- Oklahoma isn't gonna miss a beat with Kyler Murray at QB... they might be more dangerous
- UCLA looked not great on offense in Chip Kelly's debut... was he saving some surprises for the Sooners?

3:30 PM - #8 NOTRE DAME vs Ball State - NBC
- Avoid the hangover
- Take care of business
- Keep Wimbush on track and practicing those 50/50 throws

3:30 PM - Colorado @ Nebraska - ABC
- Scott Frost's debut was delayed a week, and he's got a freshman at QB
- There is nothing else intriguing about this game. Let's just see how good Nebraska's offense is already.

3:30 PM - #3 Georgia @ #24 South Carolina - CBS
- UGA played two QB's in week one, so who takes the greater share of the reps this week?
- South Carolina looked good on offense at the end of last year and to start this season. Can they test the Bulldogs?

5:00 PM - Iowa State @ Iowa - FOX
- Matt Campbell and Kirk Ferentz is actually a really good coaching matchup
- Watch another potential future ND coach in Campbell and judge his skillz.

7:00 PM - #2 Clemson @ Texas A&M - ESPN
- Props to the Tigers for going on the road for a big game early in the year
- Has Jimbo got things together quickly enough to defeat Dabo's well-oiled program?

7:30 PM - Kentucky @ #25 Florida - SECN
- Kentucky has a decent transfer QB and one of the best RB's in the country in Benny Snell
- Florida has won a million games in a row in this series. Can the Wildcats make it happen?

7:30 PM - Fresno State @ Minnesota - FS1
- Fresno State was actually really good last year
- Minnesota is starting a walk-on at QB, and faces a decent test.
- Future potential ND coach in Fleck roaming the sidelines for the Gophers.

8:00 PM - #13 Penn State @ Pittsburgh - ABC
- Penn State survived a good Appalachian State team last week... Rebound or hangover?
- Narduzzi is gonna have some things ready for Franklin's offense. Can they hold McSorley down for a whole game?

8:00 PM - Cincinnati @ Miami (OH) - ESPN3
- Luke Fickell matches up with our old pal Chuck Martin
- Bearcat D looked stingy in week one. Offense looked meh. Go Bearcats.

8:30 PM - #17 USC @ #10 Stanford - FOX
- Very excited for this game.
- Love vs. crappy USC run D.
- Smart Stanford D vs. JT Daniels and his buddy Amon-Ra St. Brown
- Scout two future opponents at one time

10:15 PM - California @ BYU - ESPN2
- Night cap #1
- Two good defenses square off in what should be a low-scoring affair... defensive purists will be thrilled

10:45 PM - #15 Michigan State @ Arizona State - ESPN
- REALLY INTRIGUING NIGHT CAP
- Herm vs Dantonio
- Super late kickoff for Sparty's body clocks #BodyClock
- Arizona State looked good against an overmatched UTSA in week one. Can they test Spart'ys D?

This is a very solid week 2 slate, looking forward to another marathon weekend. Duke/NW and UCLA/OK is enough intrigue to get me to kickoff at 3:30. The rest of the day is pretty stacked, all the way up to 10:45 in Tempe.

Fun fact: listening to Mike Valenti on 97.1 The Ticket: The Big 10 is 0-9 all time when traveling to Tempe, AZ to take on the Sun Devils. Upset alert for the top 15 Spartans? Would be a solid win for the Pac 12 after their dreadful bowl season last year and Washington losing week 1 to Auburn.

My oldest daughter's B Day is this weekend and she wants to get out of town so... Looking at the list though only a couple of games this weekend interest me outside of ND much honestly... and one of those is the Friday night game. It's good weekend to getaway.

I think this week's slate is pretty bad but thankfully there is at least one game in each time slot that I will be interested in. UCLA/Oklahoma won't be watchable. Clemson/A&M is not going to be close either.

Duke/NW at 12
ND and Georgia/South Carolina at 3:30
USC/Stanford at 8:30
MSU/ASU at 10:30

USC/Stanford and Sparty/Arizona State have my full attention.

Herm Edwards seemed like such a weird/disastrous/out-of-touch hire, that it would make total sense in the screwed up world of college football that he is a revelation coaching college kids and bumps off Sparty is his second game.

USC/Stanford will probably be fun as hell (unless the nerds shut JT Daniels down immediately and they ride Love to an easy win).

Colorado has a couple of playmakers from Texas to watch out for. I think they upset Scott Frost in his debut.

More than likely not great games, but interesting storylines to follow with UCLA/Oklahoma, Clemson/A&M, and PSU/Pittsburgh

OU will hang 50 on UCLA. Won't be a watchable game.

ASU-Sparty should be fun though.

12:00 PM - Duke @ Northwestern- Want to see how NW looks in this one, not sure how good Purdue really is.
3:30 PM - #3 Georgia @ #24 South Carolina- need to have a few upsets on the SEC, here is one I wanna see.
8:00 PM - #13 Penn State @ Pittsburgh- Rooting for PITT, helps our schedule strength and any B10 non conf loss helps ND if we're in the hunt for a playoff spot
10:45 PM - #15 Michigan State @ Arizona State-B10 non conf loss helps ND if we're in the hunt for a playoff spot
8:30 PM - #17 USC @ #10 Stanford- rooting for Stanford, I want both ND and Stanford undefeated when the Tree comes to SB.

USC/Stanford and Ga/SCar could potentially have some playoff implications. Two solid games for Week 2. I think Clemson beats Jimbo and crew handily and I also think Penn St misses Moorhead and Barkley more than they are willing to admit but think they get it done against Pitt.

I'm always interested in a few select rivalries regardless of how good either team is for some strange reason. CU/CSU, Utah/BYU, Apple Cup... Always look forward to games like that... SMU/TCU is one of those to me, always just enjoy that game regardless.

Agreed, but I think the storyline coming out of UCLA will be entertaining. Chip starts tenure 0-2 and already has zero momentum on the recruiting trail. Honeymoon won't be lasting long in Westwood.

For you younger kids who don’t know; back in the day of the big 8 and the earlier years of the big 12 Colorado vs Nebraska was a big rivalry game. They usually played the day after thanksgiving if I remember correctly. Along with it being Frost first game, this game intrigues me from a nostalgia aspect.

Also want to checkout South Carolina vs UGA. I think South Carolina can hang with UGA since they are playing at home.

I'm really intrigued to see if South Carolina can make that a ball game.

I already have the Irish game set to record, so if they start to blow out Ball State, I won't hesitate to switch over to the SEC match up. I'll watch the ND recording later in that scenario to check out the youngsters playing in mop up duty.

Wait, never-mind, no need to watch the replay. Koon will break down the film for me anyways, I'm good.

Nebraska is in for a rude awakening. The Buffs are going to hang a 40 burger on them and they simply don't have the horses to compete. Colorado is my dark horse to upset USC and make it to the Pac 12 title game.

Agreed, they came back down to earth last year but I think they'll be competing all season for the pac 12 championship. They've got some athletes over there

Probably the best betting line of the week. Colorado +4 all day.

I do think Colorado is a dark horse in the PAC12, but I'm not so down on Nebraska. I know they sucked last year, but they are not without talent. Recruiting wise, they have been hanging around 25 for the past 5 years. Colorado, not so great. It will be interesting to see what Frost can do in the short term. Nebraska at home, I'd lean toward them by 6 or 7. Sucks that we didn't get to see them week 1.

they have a true freshman starting at qb...maybe pulls a jt daniels or trevor lawrence and lights it up...or could be like most freshman qb's and get overwhelmed...def something that will be the reason they win or lose

Martinez is pretty good IIRC. He's top 10 dual, and 4 star. I think they're better off than with the RS Frosh who left. I know he's got a year of practice, but no starts I believe. They also have a pretty good true frosh TE and frosh RBs... some good JC transfer at skill positions too.

To me, it's one of the most interesting games of the day. Actually, lots of pretty good games...

CO@Neb, GA@SC, Clem@TAMU, PSU@Pitt, MichSt@AZSt.... I wish one of those games was on at noon....

I think MichSt goes down to AZSt. I think we'll have one more top 25 upset as well from those I listed.

That segment they just did on the UNLV OL (was homeless, slept in his HS stadium, worked two jobs to go walk on at UNLV) was awesome.

Charlie Strong's boys have 2 return TDs, but losing 14-7 at home to GT... Blake Barnett not getting a lot of action so far.

Wiscy down early
KSU so far hanging with MissSt
Shea Patterson looking good and accurate so far. Guessing he will put up big numbers at home vs a inferior competition.
Purdue down early.... ehhh
Houston up 21 over Sumlin's boys lol
