Was not impressed in that interview when St. Brown's dad basically threw Wimbush under the bus. Sure, BW could have been (a lot) better, but ESB has plenty to work on himself. I guess he'd rather do it in the NFL than at Notre Dame, which is his call. But the idea that he was going to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick always seemed like a stretch.
It really bothered me that, after GB selected ESB, the FOX Sports guy (can't remember which one) threw BW under the bus when "rationalizing" GB's choice. I looked at the wife and said, "That can't be good".
I did not like that comment and wouldn't want it on any kid on any team... well, maybe USC or Michigan or Miami. There were challenges for sure but it wasn't all on Brandon. I hope he uses it as fuel to light them all up in 2018. Cheers!
After college it's all business. During college, it's a lot (not all) business. I've been a huge BW fan going back to his recruitment, but facts are facts. I agree the comments suck, but I can't fault professional scouts or commentators for making them.
Reality is BW struggled a lot in the passing game, and at times was plain awful. Regardless of how much we hate our QB being thrown under the bus, his performance did impact WR performance and growth, not to mention draft stock. Sure ESB has work to do on himself, but if I'm a GB scout (or any scout) I'm certainly not going to sanitize things at the professional level.
ESB was graded by NFL.com as the 12th best receiver. In the summary, they too talk about ESB's production going south (almost cut in half) with the transition from DK to BW. Sucks, but it is what it is. There were only two WRs that were graded higher than ESB that didn't go day 2. If he had similar production to his year with DK, you can bet he would have went day 2 with those stats and measurables.
I don't disagree. I think the challenges we faced last year were pretty obvious and hopefully, they are correctable. I'm cheering hard for BW this season and was pleased with Book's performance last year. We have something to prove this year.
I may be proven wrong but I believed a lot of BW's "issues" were in his head and he needed to build his confidence and trust. That draft selection narrative really floored me. Good for ESB (I really mean that) but that's got to be a tough pill to swallow for BW... if he was watching.
Good comments YJ. Cheers!
Those comments could be the chip/edge BW needs to come out and be the baller we thought he could be. I too think most of it is in his head, and what's not in his head, is correctable via coaching/experience. He certainly has the raw tools and a high ceiling to be a stud.
All in all, I'm optimistic, but worn out from the QBs ups and downs over the last 10 years. I know the Quinn and Clausen eras were not perfect, but it was nice to have guys that were unquestioned #1s.
Since then we had the Crist to Rees to Golston to Rees to Golston years, followed my the MZ year/injury/BK promise to DK years, and now in the BW with sprinkles from Book years. I just would love a few years without drama at the position. Hoping BW can ball out and put shit to bed this year and next. If not, I'll cheer for BW and or Book, but in reality I'm all in on the PJ waiting for a savior mode....
Cheers back at ya Greenore
I'd kill for that. A 3 year starter without question.

Where former 5-stars landed in the NFL Draft
A record 106 underclassmen who were granted early eligibility for the 2018 NFL Draft entered Thursday hoping to receive the call of a lifetime, but only 69 did.
There were 37 underclassmen who went unselected (35 percent), although many of those will get an opportunity to make a team as an undrafted free agent. Some of the top underclassmen who went undrafted include Notre Dame RB Josh Adams, FSU DB Tarvarus McFadden, Indiana WR Simmie Cobbs and Pitt WR Quadree Henderson.
I'm liking the Mayfield pick more and more as I read up on things...the rationale for the Ward pick is okay too but I feel better about Mayfield, and this isn't me searching for some reason, remember, there was no talking to me about JFF or Gilbert, or Kizer, or Weeden when those picks went down... it's honestly pretty exciting... I'm ready to rock.
Glad you are coming around to liking him. I do believe he was your best choice. He fits Cleveland and has all the skills.
Best of luck to him and you.

#6 - T Mike McGlinchey
McGlinchey’s overall grade of 79.4 currently ranks seventh among the 82 tackles who’ve played at least 100 offensive snaps so far this season, and he’s been a force as a run-blocker, leading the position with an 85.3 run-blocking grade. We’ve already touched on McGlinchey’s dominance thus far as a run blocker, but he’s also greatly improved in pass protection as the season has progressed. McGlinchey allowed at least two pressures in each of the first four games to start the season, but since then, he’s allowed multiple pressures in just one of five games.
Banging that drum.... anyway, if you had told me take an undersized QB and an undersized DB or trade back, I’d trade back... prior to tonight the thought of taking the top QB and Chubb was what we needed and I wouldn’t have messed with it... still can’t believe they reached both freaking times. Who do we need to have at GM to not **** this up?
Only thing I can figure is they are trying to get ahead on the philosophical shift they feel is going to happen with more read option, cfb styled offenses so draft a super quick DB and a QB that can actually run that offense... any other line of thinking is plain wtf?!
I was banging that drum and it was unfair to you. Of course you would've taken that deal, it's more sensible than reaching for two prospects. They did reach for both picks, I'm really stunned by how poor it appears they did.
Maybe they were the smartest men in the room and we'll all be revisiting these messages next year.
Cleveland can nail their draft with those three Round 2 picks. Maurice Hurst, Connor Williams and best available RB would be my choices. #1 would have been Mayfield or Darnold, who will take another year. Rosen has baggage. Allen? At #4, Ward is the top cover corner. However, Cleveland should have taken Buffalo's offer to trade down at 4.
I really thought this would have been the year that Cleveland would do something right, but they proved me wrong. Baker Mayfield is such a Cleveland pick. You use the 4th overall pick on a slot corner? Lmao. They could've handled that so much better.
I'm really disappointed. I wanted to see the turnaround for the franchise. It's like watching a friend be really frugal to save up a bunch of cash over a number of years, just to go piss it all away playing slots at the casino.
Maybe they hit the jackpot, it's too early to tell.
