Not a single report out of it. Plus I'm sure Kelly would have addressed it

To be clear, I said heard he injured his knee. Could be just a sprain, could be more (or could be false)...that is why I brought the question here.

As far as Redfield is concerned, he did have a cast on yesterday (not sure what type) but he did prctice today.

People are soo quick to be the first to try to break news that they don't wait and confirm their sources. Chris mortenson deflate gate prime example.

There are always bump and bruises. If Kelly didn't report it, then it's not major. Unless, of course, it happened during practice. Then again, someone would have reported it...

I believe that is what I tried to do here. I'm not trying to be the first to break any news but bringing what I heard to the members here that do you have sources. Isn't that part of what it messageboard is for?

Don't feel bad dad4aa. I don't think you did anything wrong at all. You told us you heard a rumor and asked people here if they had heard it or knew anything more to try to confirm it. You did not really seem to state it as breaking news IMHO

I appreciate the posting of rumors in a responsible way. I used to be a member of ISD, and not only do they not post rumors, they do not allow members to do so. So many rumors end up having truth to them, and the news always surfaced here on a free site before a pay site, which was unacceptable to me.

This.

Half these guys get their pansies in a jumble because their emotions get toyed with. You clearly asked if anyone could confirm it so you were not confirming it yourself. NBD here, move along.

You'd be shocked if you heard all the rumors I hear that DON'T come true. If every member posted what they hear, this board would go nuts. For example, I've heard 4 different players that were going to be ruled ineligible...only GB came true. The board becomes unmanageable when rumors are posted, especially because they don't all come true.

And FWIW, the ISD mods do allow rumors to be posted. Anything with legs, they don't take down. Anything that they don't believe to be true or that they haven't heard anything about, they take down. It's always easy to see what rumors might come true, bc the threads stay alive.

I also agree with this. If everyone posted rumors that they have heard, the board wouldn't be as reliable for information as it is. But since it doesn't happen often or once in a blue moon, I wouldn't say it is an issue as of now.

If Elmer goes down, we'd be force to rely on Bars, Montelus, McGovern, Biven, or even Mustipher. It would be terrible.

Thank you HH.

No doubt. I had no problem with what he wrote. My heart did skip a beat though, hoping it wasn't true. Personally, I HATE that feeling, which is why I like that ISD kinda puts a wet blanket on wildly posting rumors.

I also disagree that BK would have disclosed the injury. We find out about things way after they happen all the time. Grace is hurt and he didn't say anything. Has he addressed the Redfield soft cast thing yet? SOP for BK and most coaches. Why give the other team info that they don't need to know?

Gentlemen,

Prepare yourselves to be attacked by vicious, untrue rumors designed to make the average fan feel the way you all just described. The real haters have nothing else to throw out (or up, depending on how you look at it) so far this year. There is always going to be a vocal small minority dedicated to putting the tarnish on the dome, whether stories have merit or no substance. They will do what they have to do, just to try to ruin your day.

Now none of our members here have done so, but who know where that morsel actually originated from. Gossip is exactly like the clap; I trust that analogy is complete without further description.

Doubt he leaves, he's one of the smartest players on the team and I bet that degree means everything, unless he graduates ahead of time.

And thought this was in regards to the rumor about him being injured from a few days ago. Bumps are for the birds! lol.

Yeah he is def sticking around for four years. Could be the number 1 guard off the board in 2017.

That seems a little high.

Kiper loves him some ND players, that is for sure. Elmer definitely needs to raise his game consistently to get there, no doubt.

Oh, and fwiw, in defense of dad4aa, Elmer did give the staff and his teammates a major scare in practice last week when he went down with an apparent ankle injury. But fortunately, it turned out OK and he was fine to play on Saturday, as we all saw.

But in defense of sites that don't partake in rumor mongering, if sites had just let this run rampant, there would have been a whole lot of flipping out for something that turned out to be nothing. Sometimes it's just better to err on the side of caution...

Depends some ND players he loves, but some he get's down on for whatever reason.

He has Fuller rated higher than other places.

But, I also remember him hating on Golden Tate...Who has become a pro bowl WR!

Kiper on Golden Tate: a). graded him as a first round draft pick; and b). suggested that when Detroit got him that "they added a nice piece." His only [mild] coolness on Golden was that he felt that Golden was not quite enough to deflect coverage from the Megatron, and that the Lions needed to draft another receiving threat [Mike Evans] to load the field with 1-2-3 threats.

.... not what I'd call "hate".

In fact I can't come up with a Kiper hate-fest about anyone associated with Notre Dame ever. He's as strong a media asset for us as we can hope for.

No he did not grade Tate as a first round pick. Kiper graded him as a third round pick who might not last in the league long. McShay liked Tate, Kiper was not a fan coming out of college. He thought Tate was to small and couldn't separate.

ISD hinted at Elmer hanging it up and being a Corey Robinson situation. odd to say the least from a 3 year starter going in to his Sr year..any inside info out there?
