First half was almost perfect.
Terrible tackling on two of their scoring drives.
Alohi is awesome.
Still handled them.
Wish we dominated more.
8-0.
Pride had the worst whiff I've seen since the CW years.
Tranquil was in a boot when he left the field and came over to the Irish fans in the end zone. FWIW he was all smiles and walking without any noticeable discomfort.
That was horrible. Also passing on 3rd and two aggravated me. Was thrilled with our D in the first half. Hope Dru is OK. Boykin redeemed himself. 8-0...Onward to NW.
Good win, not great. 8-0 regardless.
I'm so exhausted with this series even though we won by 20+
Typically don’t get to watch Irish games s they happen live. Enjoyed being able to post in the game thread during the game. A win is a win and that’s what matters in the push to a playoff spot. I tend to see the negatives more than the positives as I try to see if the performance was at a championship level performance. With that said I don’t know if the opponent here gives us that chance since they are more unconventional than most.
Book looked great and his passes were typically to the right spot to the correct read. His INT was inexcusable but so was the play call. All in all he was given time and performed as expected.
The offense as a whole executed well but the OL must improve in all phases if the Irish want to advance to the title game. Too much inconsistency within the position group still. When they execute it shows in both run and pass plays. When they are off, it puts Book in a position to have to think quickly. Against playoff caliber teams that is a recipe for bad things to happen. Book is really good but he can’t be asked to pick up others load.
The defense looked good then got sloppy as the game progressed. Would like to see four quarters of complete domination but again, the unconventional opponent probably contributed to some of the sloppiness.
All and all, a good win but not a championship caliber performance. Plenty to work on with both sides of the ball. The Irish need to demand excellence from each other and not be satisfied with just winning. To be a championship team everything should be done at a championship level. The Irish aren’t there yet but are getting closer each week. Just need to keep improving on those issues that they know aren’t quite where they need to be.
Our fans don’t enjoy it, our players don’t want to play in it, the game has zero upside for us. Tell Navy to drop the option or we’re dropping the series.

Its not the option that bothers me ---they play very close to dirty football--- a lot of late stuff with only one purpose---injure. Many instances of that tonight---I agree the damn debt has been paid. Great effort by the 'Irish'. That's why you don't see sec teams lining up to play these guys-it even seems they are more inclined that way against us and we take it like we are trying to be politically correct---drop the damn gameI'll sign the petition.
at some point, the debt has to be paid. if not, it just becomes extortion.
Didn't even look like a whiff to me. Seemed like he just tried to push the guy and figured that would be enough to get him down.

Can't embed but I'm pretty sure BK is trolling Koon at this point.
This was the most frustrating game for me to watch this year. See Drue go down with an injury. A couple of other hobbling off the field. The team and the coaches sh*t the bed the second half, like they forgot they had to play a second half.
Julian Love and Troy Pride had their heads up each other’s ass. Troy Pride had two of the worst tackle attempts I have ever seen in my life

I'll give credit where credit is due. Koon, Dex was pretty freaking good in pass pro last night. Hopefully he can build off that for the rest of the season.
I think the story of the night at running back was Jafar Armstrong. Dex is the biggest home run threat in the backfield, but Jafar's receiving ability out of the backfield can simply not be ignored. Averaged 6 yards a carry and over 60 yards receiving? Umm yes please. I think its amazing that he was our leading receiver last night and that was with Boykin and Claypool having pretty good games themselves. This is what gives Jafar the greatest chance out of the group to be the most successful in the NFL, IMO.
As for the game itself...I'm glad Drue seems to be okay. I didn't care what the score would be, I just wanted a win.
Agree that Jafar was awesome. Don't sleep on Dex's ability to catch though. He had 3 receptions himself (only 2 less than Jafar). If Dex continues to improve blocking, he'll be the clear better choice in the NFL IMHO. But Jafar is still young, and has time to improve in all facets. Too early to predict for him, but he will be damn good.
I was a little curious as to why Tony Jones Jr only got 3 carries last night.
I don't remember, but was Dex running actual routes? Or were they screens? Not trying to discount his catches, but seeing Jafar run actual receiver routes is much more impressive. Jafar obviously has the upper hand because he's a converted wide receiver, but with his size and receiving ability it can be really dangerous. I know I'm drinking the kool-aid and I have been ever since the spring game, but Jafar kinda reminds me of a young LeVeon Bell with his ability to get the ball in so many different ways and being able to run legit routes.
I think Jones only got 3 carries because he's the sure fire 3rd string back. Wouldn't be surprised if he's still the third string next year even though Dex will be gone.
