Wimbush did exactly what I thought he would. Propel the team to a convincing win whilst doing shit that makes you say, WHAAA????

Love ya Brandon. 10-0 . Suck it. We're 10-0

When is the last time we had back to back 10 win seasons? Too lazy to look it up lol.
Edit:
So I did look it up, it was 92-93.

Last time ND was argubly one of the best teams in the nation was 1993. Last time ND finished regular season w/ back-to-back 10 wins was 1993.

ABOUT TIME.

Great tweet from Coach D

Regarding the "They are playing better now." Michigan rushed for 193 yards and 4.8 YPC against 1-8 Rutgers, the #120 rush defense in the nation. #NotreDame rushed for 365 yards and 7.3 YPC against FSU, the #17 rush defense in the nation, without its starting QB.

since when? I need information regarding the fact. I know I may have heard faulty information but, I've been under the impression It counts only toward the 12 games and the championships...

i posted some info on the topic a few weeks back. it's not spelled out in the amendments, but pretty clear. also saw on two games where it was discussed and confirmed (if you believe the talking heads). i'd love for it not to be the case.

I think the run defense was okay today. It wasn't great and at times (particularly after we went up 17-0, those next two drives) there was laziness.

They held FSU to 3.5 rushing yards per carry. Keep in mind, that their average is bogged down heavily because they give up 5-7 sacks a game, which brings down their average considerably.

Now, what I was really disappointed in was the inconsistency in the pass rush and the lack of finish. Francois is only sacked one time all game. That's awful. 4 man rush isn't finishing the job, but ND is also not very sound on their blitzing. Keep in mind, that FSU basically surrendered 4 or more sacks in every game against a mediocre or better defense going into this game. The only teams that didn't were Samford, Louisville and Wake Forest. An FCS team and two of the worst defensive teams in FBS.

That needs to be addressed and fixed.

That 4th quarter conversation by the commentators is the most I've ever seen NBC go to bat for ND. Felt... nice?

Just looked this up since it was my senior day, but our class is the first class since 1995 to experience 3 ten win seasons in our times as students. That was before any of us were born! Never thought I’d still be seeing Kelly coach after our sophomore season but I’m so thankful to have been at Notre Dame when I have been.

I think Francois played very good considering. He dropped some balls in against tight coverage or else this would have been worse. Lots of drops for FSU. Can our DBs ever play the ball on short and long routes?

Ground game was great. I think Ian could have dropped 56 on them. Was exp dating more direct snap runs for BW but what we saw will suffice. I know I don’t want to see BW needed in a close game. Not sure what he’s going to do next
year. D look d sloppy and more of the bend but don’t break Diaco BS. Real nice blitz by Gelman. D generally played like they had a huge pad. Not something you see from a Bama.

MT is always fair and anyone impartial can't think a 1 loss MI can hop a 0 loss ND with ND winning the head to head..

ESPN talking like ND is going to do the same thing to Syracuse, but i'm not sure. Our defense just isn't playing like they did the first few weeks of the season. If ND wins, it will be a 38-35 type of game

After sleeping it off:
1) Wimbush performed when we needed him to, and was incredibly professional about it. Super kid.
2) Mack came up big. It's a shame he's likely gone because if that's his new normal this offense will be scary next year.
3) Williams is currently playing as well as Adams was last September with a worse OL. Might not be the worst thing to have a talented RB sit out for the first 4 games in the future considering how fresh he looks....
4) On a night our front 7 was supposed to feast and our OL was supposed to struggle, the opposite happened.
5) Hopefully we can fix the run defense when we're playing Nickle because Syracuse is going to exploit that.
6) NBC flexed a little muscle last night for us. That was the most positive ND broadcast I think I've ever seen.
7) 10-0 4 sho

The OLine improvement can be partly attributed to the team getting the guards right (in two different ways.) Banks has been a joyful addition. We needed a mauler there, even more than a Bars-type technician (though Bars was very good obviously.)

The "other" guard is the return (to health) of Big Tommy. If you can re-watch the game, note who is semi-regularly pancaking players and collapsing walls (and even successfully pulling.) The Big Guy is apparently back.

Banks and Kraemer seem to set a wall of power around Mustipher and unless a delayed blitz comes through the middle (which no back picks up) the pocket stays safe in the middle.

Because Eichenberg and Hainsey still have troubles with faster rushers, it's "inside" we should go both as to running and stepping up in the pocket. Book's great at the latter, but Brandon still has trouble with hands in the passing lanes. Great thanks to Brandon but we still need Book's wild talent savvy to make the whole thing run smoothly.

Tirico, in particular, is a straight shooter. Flutie grudgingly agreed, though he followed up by saying if we lose a game, "it's over." (which, depending on the loss, it shouldn't be)

But, seriously, is anyone outside of total Michigan fanbois actually saying they should be ranked ahead of us right now? It is a nonsensical argument.
Yes, they're playing better. But so are we. It's not like they're rolling and we're eeking out wins here.
And who has Michigan beaten, exactly? Penn State? Whoopty-fucking-do.
And we beat them, and it wasn't even really seven points close.
And we're undefeated, and they're not.

So I'm glad that Mike Tirico can state the obvious. But I'm holding my praise on that other one.

Not worried about the run D like some of you guys. (1) Lea is gonna study up and figure out the adjustments/curveballs that FSU threw at them. (2) The interior DL on most of FSU’s chunk plays was Hinish/Ademilola, I believe, with some Bonner mixed in. They rested Tillery on most early downs after the first two drives.

Also not worried about the pass rush. Francois was getting the ball out fast all night. On the plays where he tried to sit in the pocket and read the D, he was pressured and throwing the ball away into the field. That’s why his completion percentage was low, in addition to some drops from FSU WR’s.

Balki mentioned the blitzes being an issue, but Tranquill got home on one where Francois has to duck to avoid getting killed, and Gilman absolutely obliterated Francois on two separate occasions. There were times where they brought an extra, and FSU’s line picked them up, but the ball was away so fast that it didn’t matter.

Honestly, Taggert deserves credit for the FSU gameplan on offense. It was basically “three steps, throw to your first read, or throw it to the field.” Their plan was to avoid sacks at all costs, and it worked, but in the sense that it made them pretty limited overall otherwise.

I think the BS one loss UM narrative got started by Desmond Howard last week on college football live. David Pollack thought he was an idiot for thinking it and said why do we even play the games then? It looks like beating any big 10 team this year has little to no cachet Sam even with most of the ACC and PAC 10. Just keep winning and it’s a done deal. Don’t like our chances against a Clemson or a Bama. This D looks like we are living on borrowed time. Seniors need to step up the leadership and play angry.

Herbestreit’s on the scUM train, too. When they asked about ND/scUM head-to-head, he scoffed and said “that game was back in June.”

It’s funny in the hypocrisy, too, because ESPN has a playoff commercial where all the talking heads give a quote, and Herbstriet’s is “every game matters.” Every game except for week one, apparently.

Honestly if ND would loss to cuse by 10 or less Saturday and beat USC why would they be left out? My top 4 would then be Bama, Clemson, Michigan if they win out, then ND. The big 12 winner has no business being in the playoff especially Oklahoma
