That clip is actually awesome. VanGorder acts like a DB and pretended nothing happened. Day was like, "Ahhh shit, let's get Grimes away." I keep looking to see who it was that knocked off Longo's visor-can't tell.

Looked like (IMO) that Longo was intervening between a Grimes/Ref "discussion"/"arguing a call" when BK showed Longo what he wanted re: aggressive lineman. I expect a revamp of the weight training schedule. Tomorrow.

Grimes was getting into it with a ref and about to get a penalty... that's why another coach was already holding him back.

And then BK came in hot. I'd like for him to be more calm, but WTF is Grimes doing.

It looked much worse live during the game than those videos. Pretty much a non issue. It's a passionate game, people get excited. Atl least he wasn't tripping guys on the field.

I'm not going to lie... and this may be a totally crazy opinion, but my respect for Brian Kelly went up ten fold seeing him about to kick a grown man's ass because his actions were about to hurt a drive. Shit like that makes me want to go to war with a guy.

Kelly shouldn't have put his hands on Grimes. Berate him, sure.

I almost think the opposite... if he had just pushed him away, it looks fine. It's that he pushes him away from the ref AND yells at him.

I'm with you. Would Golfingham or Weis have done that? No, because they don't give a flying fuck about how their teams performed. They accepted it. We need some fucking passion in this program and BK brings that.

I disagree. This happens more often the people know about. I just wish he would use that energy of firing up this team because they needed it.

I coached for 12 years and this goes on all the time. Actually the closer the staff the more it happens. Press box and sidelines. Grimes was way out of place chipping at an official. If he would have cost the 15, there would have been deep shit.

Didn't bother me a bit. I think it looked worse than it was, and he was just trying to avoid a penalty. That's the worst I ever want to see something happen, but if that is as bad as it gets, I'm good with it. I know some people don't like stuff like this, and I respect that, but things like this happen sometimes in the heat of the game, as long as the team is the main focus I like the fiery spirit!

I have zero problems with what Kelly did. The assiatant should apologize to Kelly for creating that situation in the first place. As a head coach he's dealing with enough let alone some assistant getting out of line with the refs during a game.

I only saw a flash...but I saw Kelly up in it.

The man is no joke...he's an old linebacker. How does the song go...ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

I love to see a coach invested...hate to see an assistant get waxed like that...hurts his credibility some. But I guess there are rules for assistants too. Hope they kiss and make up. Both good guys.

I don't have issue with what Kelly did. Love the intensity. If you want to play for participation ribbons he may not be the guy to lead your team. Give Kelly a helmet and let him play MLB.

Brian Kelly has the most 4th quarter comebacks (13) since his arrival in 2010. Marshal and MSU tied at 2nd with 12. Take it for what its worth.

You know exactly how this is going to get negatively spun, right?

Not this. I bet.

The most interesting think is Kelly and Paul Longo were taking care of business right after the play. Kelly was paying attention to the play on the field, but he and Paul were having a very meaningful conversation.

The reason that I don't think Kelly comes out too bad on this one is a host of other assistants moved Grimes away from the team bench on the sidelines, until he calmed down.

why is espn showing that stuff though? action is on the field and thats where they should keep their focus

espn feeds the drama, it turns sports into a soap opera
You mean like NBC did in the purple-face game?

It's a useless statistic, neither positive nor negative. Losing Malik and Kizer leading the comeback against Virginia is something to be damn proud of. Trailing Temple until four minutes left is not.

Perhaps, but that's not what happened. ND led(or was tied) for all but about 4:00 of the game.

Temple scored a TD with 6:51 left in the 2Q to go up 10-7. ND responded with a 3 play, 88 yard TD drive that retook the lead(14-10) for ND after only 1:19. ND led all the way until Temple kicked a FG with 4:45 left in the 4Q, to go up 20-17. ND responded with a 6 play, 75 yard TD drive that gave the lead back to ND, for good, after only 2:36.

So Temple only led for 3:55 of game time. ND did not "trail Temple until four minutes left".
