That mock makes no damn sense. The Niners have no better QB situation than da Bears, and they take DL for the 3rd year in a row? I just don't see it.

Agreed, if we are going to stockpile D-line they better trade back and get some goodies.

Supposedly Shanahan wants to bring in Matt Schaub so we have that going for us, which is nice.

I know that Schaub already knows the system, but that would be a disaster.

It does if they don't rate the QB's that high. Apparently Shanahan is very interested in Kirk Cousins and Garrapolo.

So are most QB needy teams, like da Bears. Their reasoning behind SF passing on a QB at 2 is just as valid for the Bears at 3.

I read a few days ago, the Bears planned on going after Garrapolo this offseason. I don't see drafting Trubisky that high. I'm not sure I'd take any of the QB's in the top 10, maybe 15. The Bears need a LOT of help in defensive secondary, and there's more than a few good Safety's available.

True. Trade back and get Hooker, then load up on a couple corners in the mid rounds. If they want Garoppolo, send whatever they reap from the trade back and a 3rd to the Pats.

I'm all for them trading down, but don't grab Garrapolo. That's fools gold.

Best thing that could happen to the Bears is pick up a QB before the draft. I could see them taking the third QB that is left after two others or being the first to take a QB that has no business going in the top 5. Rather see them go after a can't miss dominating positional player and figure QB out later as I really don't think this is the draft to stretch for a QB.

I feel like all these teams are playing Russian roulette. Whoever ends up making a deal for Garopplo, NE is going to make look like fools. What has he shown since he was drafted that makes people think he's any better than what he was evaluated to be back then? He started 3 games and wasn't able to finish 2 of the 3.

Realistically, who do you want? I don't see Garrett falling to #3 and I'm not sure who I want from all the other top prospects

I want them to trade down. Outside of Garrett, I don't think anyone in this draft is worth the #3 pick for the Bear's specific needs. Somebody will want to reach for Trubinsky. My hopes are that the Bills, Cleveland or the Texans want to swap picks. We go and grab a guy like Hooker (Bills or Cleveland) or Peppers (Texans) and get a couple extra picks out of the deal.

I don't see many mocks (especially right now) predicting trades, so you will definitely be disappointed with that. I do agree with you that the value just isn't there for #3, but there has to be somebody willing to trade up in order for da Bears to trade back. I'd be down with Malik Hooker, but his injuries do worry me a bit. I first thought that the surgery was for a sports hernia, but I just learned that he had one for a torn labrum as well. He should recover, but I'm definitely worried.

I think that the Bills are most likely to trade up, though I wouldn't be surprised if they or any other team leapfrogs Chicago, since the Jags (#4) haven't made it known that they're looking for a new QB, nor will the Titans (#5). I hate this draft so far. With any of the last 3 drafts, I knew that a guy would fall to #3 that will be an exceptional player in the league. This year, I'm not so high on.

Depends on their GM and Coach...and Allen is ready to play NOW, as a DE or a DL. And considering how poor their Run D was last year, and the very weak QB class, I could totally see that happening.

This a rebuild. Getting a crappy QB and trying to sell that as opposed to actually rebuilding your D with an NFL-ready talent...give me the NFL-ready player now.

Plus, you can always go FA and get a QB for a couple years. No need to reach on a QB. That sets you back.

Let Kap walk and take that savings and put it toward Kirk, if they want to take a run at him.

Then start drafting some good defensive players. That is how they built the foundation of the team that went to 3 straight NFC title games.

Well I'm not saying that they have to go QB at 2; I'm not sure if that's a smart move at all. What I'm saying is their reasoning for a QB not being worth the 2nd overall pick applies to the Bears at 3.

I agree with all of that, but would add two points. 1) Don't sleep on the Jags grabbing a QB. They are absolutely not set on Bortles per reports. 2) We don't necessarily have to have a team believe that someone below us is going to pick Trubinsky. We can call them and tell them that WE are going to pick him unless they make it worth our wild. Something to think about.

With the bolded... ain't that our luck? ha

Oh I believe you about the Jags and grabbing a QB. Just like 2014 when nobody knew that they were drafting Bortles, the Jags are keeping stuff pretty close to the vest so far. I like that because I like some chaos on draft night. The problem is that trades happen due to wanting to jump others who target the same prospect. Like last year, when Pace leapfrogged the Giants to steal Floyd. If the Jags aren't letting out rumors that they'll take a QB, then trades are less likely to happen. I'm not so sure that threatening to take a QB gets you a trade though, because if you need a franchise QB, you'll value him more than an additional 3rd. That's just my thinking though.

Also, yes, our luck is outstandingly shitty.

Chicago people....is there much talk for trading for Jimmy Garoppolo? I want to keep him, but it doesn't seem possible.

There's some talk, but there's not a ton of smoke that I've seen. The Chicago sports media has been throwing him out as a possibility mainly because he can be had (although at the right price). I don't see Pace giving up what the Pats have been asking (1st and 4th from what I've seen), but the Bears and Pats did have joint practices last year. This gives the coaching staff a little more insight into Garoppolo more than the other teams who have been linked to Brady's backup

Browns have bigger needs than TE but he is a playmaker. I would love if Foster, Adams or Hooker would still be there at 12.

Yeah Garrett, Adams, Kizer is my dream draft. I don't think Adams or Kizer will fall to 12 and 33 though.

I can't even begin to think about surrending the third overall pick for Jeannie Garrafolo. My head would hurt too much.
