I'm really surprised ESPN posted Kiper's mock draft for free. His and McShay's mocks and draft talk is ALWAYS for ESPN Insiders. I was one of them. Looking at ESPN today i see that they are still Insider subscriptions in order to view.
Tread carefully my friend.
Gattaca's list is simply a reproduction of the information he gathered from the television, which he then pulled from his brain. Completely legal.
I am interested in the recruiting rankings for each of the projected 1st rounders.... I am too lazy to do it myself so someone needs to get on that ish pronto!

Which is different than someone giving us a reproduction of a premium video they saw on 247 and pulled from their memory?
Ignoring the tongue-in-cheek nature of my post after asking Gattaca to alter his OP...
Paraphrasing is totally and 100% allowed. We have never had a problem with that.
It's when we are contacted by writers and websites in regards to entire articles (or the majority of an articles' content, depending on an individual's legal opinion of "copyright" and "fair use") being copied over is where we have problems. So we police those posts, from those sites, to make sure they're okay, because they are being actively monitored by people outside of our site.
If Gattaca wants to post a list that he saw on TV, that's cool. But copying/pasting premium content directly is not consistent with how we try to police things. But we also haven't been directly contacted by ESPN (as long as Wiz aint snitchin'), so there is more leniency that naturally happens in that regard.
I'm not saying it's right, because we do aim for consistency, but I AM saying that we are an ND site, so we are going to police ND-related content much more diligently than non-ND content.
*As a disclaimer for full transparency, when I gave Gattaca the green-light to post Kiper's mock draft, I didn't think it was going to be a direct copy-and-paste of the premium article. I thought we would be getting a list of the picks from Reddit. That's my bad. *Pats chest remorsefully*
can we get a definitive list of sites then that we are to be conscious of?
All of the sites!!!!

Being okay to paraphrase premium articles is news to me. I am pretty sure that people have recently been reprimanded for just that. In fact, I'm positive of it.
Again... I think the whole argument is silly, as 247 (because let's be real, its really just them and ISD that have issue) has no legal right to stop it. We could really just tell them to pound sand and do what we want. But we don't.
FWIW, I agree with the second half of your post. It's not illegal to paraphrase news content, and labeling something "VIP!" doesn't suddenly change that or offer the content special protection, as much as 247 wishes it were so. And without using the phrase "pound sand," we have (and PANDFAN has) talked to them about it and expressed a similar opinion.
As for the top part, no one has been reprimanded for posting paraphrased content... they've been reprimanded for not providing links/sources to paraphrased content.
So just to be absolutely clear. If 247 puts out a VIP article stating that The Gipper has been reincarnated and will be joining the '17 class. I can post just that as long as I link the VIP article?
Link the article/provide the source, paraphrase what you've learned. No direct quotes or copy/paste.
As far as my understanding, and as far as what was stated in PANDFAN's thread that started the recent uproar, thems the rules.

DWatson trying to hide form the Browns - LOL.
NFL Draft 2017: Here's 5 ways the Browns could land 5 starters at 5 key positions | cleveland.com
Interesting options... I don't see a world (obviously the combine can change this) where they don't take Garrett at 1... but it's still fun to throw around... at this time the homerun first round is one where they get Myles G and then somehow get Hooker...

Wow - those are some big college names to throw on one team. This draft is a deal breaker for the Brownies - gotta get it right.
Yeah, they have to get this right... I'm confident they will tho... five picks in the top 65? They'll get at least a couple instant impacts there... I think they'll do some important things in the FA market over the next two off-seasons too...
