Browns should take Garrett #1 and the top rated safety at #12. They desperately need playmakers on defense. They also have the worst Safeties in the NFL. Ed freaking Reynolds started the last half of the year. My only caveat is if one of the big three QB's is there at #12. I wouldn't be pissed if they took a flyer on one of them. I would also consider sending one of their #2's to NE for Garapolo and using the other one on OL.

If New England gives up JG for a 2 I'd do back flips... rumor is their price for that is much, much higher....

They have zero leverage. He's going to be a free agent in a year. 3rd and 5th or they can pound salt.

I wouldn't pay a dime over a second rounder. I actually would probably offer the a 3rd or 4th and play hardball. Dude started 4 games in his career.

Not only, but I think that a 3rd round pick is the most they can get for a compensatory pick.

I'm being a complete homer but I like a lot of the pieces on defense. I think a big part of the problem was hiring a nincompoop defensive coordinator, and everybody's favorite excuse..injuries! Allen would be great because he is a monster, but until we know the coach/GM/system answers I'll just assume we should trade back and stock pile picks. It always works for me on Madden.

Cut Cap and save cap space and money for a journeyman QB who can actually play the position and then you can stockpile picks for later years as long as you are drafting wisely and with a plan towards the future. But a lot does have to do with the future GM and HC.

But based on Allen's performance this year I do not see any way he could not be a productive player for the Niners no matter who the coach and GM are.

NFL 2016 - Chris Mortensen, Adam Schefter Week 16 notebook - Five best Coach of the Year candidates

I thought this was interesting as it relates to QBs in the draft:

Jimmy G just turned 25 and has spent three years under Brady/Belichick/McDaniels and has looked great when given the opportunity. Is it worth trading for a guy like that in a weak QB year?

McCarron has started an actual playoff game and has done well. He could probably be had for a 2nd rounder at this point.

13-15 million for Glennon is a joke but NFL teams are stupid...

Bears trading or not trading for one of these guys could change Kizer's draft stock by a full round.

How likely is McDaniels to SF? If that happens do you think he would push for Jimmy?

2. Deshone Kizer to San Francisco 49ers (yay!)

He is no Joe Montana. I do not want my ND and SF connection messed up here. He is not ready for the pros anyway and behind that offensive line....no thanks to Kizer.

As of now, I want Garrett at 1 and Hooker at 12... that along with resigning Collins, with Ogbah and Shelton already there, does a lot to turn that defense around.

Not sure that Hooker will be there at 12

How has Collins been since the trade?

I'm not saying he will be... but I have seen a lot of mocks that have him 10-15... right where the Browns sit at 12.

How has Collins been since the trade?

Good, he had up and down games but def good enough to lock up so long as the money isn't insane (for all I know it might be and I wouldn't hold it against the Browns just holding on one more year then passing at that point.. although they have already said they aren't going to Fran tag him).

Honestly, I'll be kind of surprised if the Browns end up picking at 12... my gut tells me that pick gets moved somehow...

If they don't trade any away the Browns have 5 of the first 65 picks, it's time to put the Johnny Football, Justin Gilbert and Trent Richardson picks (and others) behind us... two solid drafts followed by a home run here will turn any franchise around... and don't forget the cap space they have, top in the league....

all the ingredients are there... Sashi and Co. just have to mix them properly.

With the combine coming up next month, draft prospects are going to be climbing up and down the boards. I usually create my annual "On The Clock" thread around the time of the combine. If you don't know what this is, it is where you can pick a team and do a whole draft with them. I think it is really fun and gives me a better idea of what I'm hoping my team will do in the draft.

Are you guys still interested in this? Or am I just making a thread for no reason? It usually starts up some great draft conversations.

Sign me up for that. It is insightful, if only to see how you would like your team to pick.

I'm curious to see what happens with Gordon too (Yes, I know, but still)... if the Browns had made a decision to release him and never look back they would have released him a long time ago, that tells me they are still weighing things..... he's restricted so does some team give him an offer?? His talent level would make one assume someone would take a flyer on him... do the Browns match or even offer him their own one year contract to prove himself? I'll be very surprised if he is just done, I really would. He'll most likely play again somewhere.

I also won't lie... the idea of Coleman, Gordon and Pryor all on the field at once gives me the warm and fuzzies....

Ha, in terms of recent history that's fair.. I never had much faith in Savage or Farmer or others... I actually have a large amount of faith in Sashi Brown and crew... I really do think they turn this around,.... well provided our dip of an owner actually gives them a reasonable amount of time to do it, which is also a fair concern, but I've actually felt a change in tone from him too so let's hope.

Marvin going to be around in 2018 if the miss the playoffs next year?

Mike Brown will never fire a coach before the contract is expired because he is a cheap asshole that won't spend an extra money on his own franchise for any reason whatsoever, so that depends on if Marvin gets an extension or not.

But because Mike Brown is also an incompetent asshole that doesn't think about what's best for his franchise, he may very well extend Marvin just so there's one less thing he has to worry about or work on for another two years, regardless of wins or losses, in which case Marvin won't be gone for as long as Mike Brown is alive or until such time as Marvin decides to retire to the front office.

TL;DR
I have no idea because Mike Brown

It's a great day because Mel Kiper's mock draft 1.0 is now live! This is an ESPN Insider Article linked below:

2017 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 Round 1 - Mel Kiper

Highlights ? None if you are a Notre Dame fan. Except for seeing players projected that we would have had to face next year on the list instead of the field.

What about Browns fans? Do Garrett and Cook excite you?

He's got no Kizer in round 1?

What QB's are above him in Kiper's first mock?

I get frustrated with ND fans.... I think that's clear. I also get frustrated with Browns fans, there has been a very large minority reaction to this on social media along the lines of, "How dafaq do the Browns not take a QB at #1?!?!?!?!... Fire Everyone if that happens!!"

Knowing I'm in the same grouping with these people has me like:

The whole thing is on Reddit if you google it. Hell, it's all over the interwebs immediately.
