Iowa State will probably beat us by multiple scores the way our offense is currently playing. KSU we might be able to beat.

Agreed. LSU would likely wax us to guarantee a litany of SEC Speed/ND overrated tweets for at least a year.

I'd love to see them cut down the bowl games and raise the minimum win to bowl eligibility to 7.

I know it won't happen because money is king but I would like it more as a fan. Too many pointless bowls - practically awarding on the participation principle.

When I lived in Memphis, we would go to the Liberty Bowl every year. I watched some great games in the 70's/80's including Bear Bryant's last game. When they started bringing in more bowls, it 'watered down' the entertainment. And now, you have to wait a month after the Conference Championships to see the upper-tiered bowl games.

I agree with your 7 game scenario but, it is the all-might $$$$ that runs the gig.

Don’t worry...that’s unlikely. LSU waxing us in the Citrus is much more likely.

They were saying the same thing in the 2014 ND/LSU game.

I would rather play LSU than ISU - although introducing Swarbrick to Matt Campbell might be worth the embarrassment. Nice new contract for Campbell btw - ISU wants to get paid if (when) he is poached and at 38 Campbell looks confident he can continue success (and position himself for one hell of an upgrade in 3-4 years).

LSU sucks - classic over-rated SEC squad. Anyone afraid of a team THAT LOST TO DII TROY THIS YEAR needs a testes check. On a neutral site - they are nothing to be feared.

We always go to a better bowl and play a better opponent than we should - because we sell tickets and bring eyeballs. Big reason our bowl record sucks.

Playoffs

NFL - 12 Teams/32 Teams = 38%
FBS - 4 Teams/130 Teams = 3.1%
FCS - 24 Teams/124 Teams = 19.4%
II - 28 Teams/169 Teams = 16.6%
III - 32 Teams/240 Teams = 13.3%

These are the number of teams that make the playoffs in the different levels of college football. Pretty simple, Bowl Games have no meaning, are a waste of time, but make tons of money and are fun for the players sometimes. Time to move to having at least an 8 team playoff or my preference is a 16 team playoff with at least 1-2 bids being non-Power Five teams to allow them to have something to play for. Time to get with the program and stop rewarding 5-7 teams with a bowl game and only allowing teams with 1 loss to make the playoffs.

Thing is, you could just use the the bowl games as the playoff games and it'd work fine. And the attendance would SKYROCKET for lower bowls if you did that. It's kind of absurd that there isn't at least an 8 team playoff but traditions die hard...

Oh I don't mind keeping bowl games. Just keep the bowl games to be used in the playoffs. 8, 12, or 16 teams make it and the rest go home and prep for next season. No need to have 78 teams playing in bowl games. It's ridiculous.

I still like the other way around... play the bowls as they used to be played and then, if needed, have a plus one or even a four game playoff completely separate from the bowls. Using the bowls as a playoff games sucks balls. you don't need an 8 team basically ever, it just pure entertainment value, hell you don't really need a four team most years if you let the bowls sort most of this out... just me opinion, I am and forever will be against expanded playoffs in any form, playoffs are great for a tie breaker when needed, not as an immovable construct year to year. Just my feelings.

Fact is that today teams get bowl eligible winning 3 conference games and beating 3 DIV II teams. That isnt right.

Should def cut down on the amount of bowls... it should be for all of the good teams in the country, not every team with a 500 or better record.

That's what i like about March Madness - you have cameras watching teams on the bubble getting in who are good and teams not making who are also good.

Have the same for football. Get rid of the conference bowl tie-in's. Have the selection committee pick them all.

In 1980, there were 15 bowl games. I went to the Sugar Bowl with my Dad and watched GA/ND.

I believe there are 40 bowl games this year....

Yep - too many

Agree. I'm not sure what was so bad about the old system. Or the BCS. They got it right all but maybe one or two years.
College football has the best, most meaningful, regular season in sports. The bigger you make the playoffs, the more that's diluted. Eventually you wind up like college basketball, where the regular season is essentially meaningless and no one pays attention until March. That's no fun.

Also for these bowls, most schools actually lose money by going to them. Cut them down and make them count.

Fuck our bowl is on a Thursday??? I was happy about finally being able to hold Friday/Saturday rather than Thursday/Friday cause I thought I would be able to watch all the Irish games....the universe is fucking with me!

You're right. Cheyney it is.

Hahaha. PSAC references. Love it. Actually stumbled across the PSAC championship game a week or two ago and to my surprise, there is Max Redfield playing for IUP. Goes from playing in front of 85k to 3k in about 12 months.

Max was in front of 85K on occasion. Many questioned whether he was playing.

Would Stanford and TCU losing be enough to get us to the Cotton Bowl or do we need blowouts?
