That's a lot of frequent flyer miles.
That's zero FF miles.
That's $3500/hr in Leprechaun One.
Everybody be thankful this guy is at the wheel of the USS Moneybags...

So WatchND just tweeted out a bunch of cool NSD videos for the guys already enrolled and then promptly took them down. Not sure if anyone saw them when I posted the tweets before they went down, but that's not a violation or anything since they're already students right?
Correct. Not a violation.
But they probably just want to save them until tomorrow anyways.
Is it weird that all the news sights have gone basically silent regarding the recruits since Sunday. Maybe Im just fiending for a fix of recruiting info but we have not gotten a robertson update from anyone since Sunday Night
I watched the one on Devin Studstill. But yeah it isn't a violation because they tweeted about them being EE's like 3 weeks ago and they never took the tweets down. My guess is that they want to save them for tomorrow and release them with the videos of the other signees. It didn't make much sense to release them today
Yes. He pulled Randy Moss' offer.
Where is BGIF when you need him. I don't think anyone ever pulled Randy Moss' offer.
The fact is, he never had a legitimate offer.
What Holtz was guilty of was trying to skate one by admission, and everyone else; Moss wasn't going to be a take at the time for ND no matter what.
What the old time ND coaches used to do is say, "I would like to offer you an ND scholarship. We would love to have you here in South Bend. Your scholarship offer is good for today, only. Take it or leave it, we need your decision, now."
And that goes back at least as far as Ara, when the NCAA first started controlling scholarships, and put numeric limitations on schools.
Bogs,
That was just a quick tongue in cheek response to a conversation about if ND used to pull offers back in the day. I brought up Moss because it's the most famous case of someone who was being recruited, then publicly stopped being recruited. Obviously, Moss had some serious circumstances that led ND to stop their pursuit of him.
My post insinuates that it was Holtz who decided to pull the offer. I said that out of laziness. Holtz was the face of the program and therefore I assigned the responsibility to him. The fact is, the President, the AD or admissions could have approached Holtz and told him he was a no go for any combination of reasons. I don't know.

Sam Bruce, one of the top high school football recruits in the country, a standout receiver and cornerstone of the University of Miami’s recent recruiting class, withdrew from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday following an incident that allegedly involved Bruce holding a gun in a photograph.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Bruce used the photo of himself with a weapon as part of an ongoing dispute with an older, former Aquinas male student over Bruce’s ex-girlfriend. The source said the photo ended up in the hands of the former student, who then called police and Aquinas.

Didn't want to shock anyone by swing on any particular recruits thread, so I will ask here. When do these kids report to school ? I know it's close.
A new name to pay attention to at defensive end, per 247
"Yeah, I've talked to [off-field recruiting assistant] Aaryn Kearney a couple times and have been in touch with Coach Gilmore also," said Fant. "They have let me know that they are watching me and my tape and want to build a realationship and to stay in touch."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"To me, that would be a game changer," said Fant of a Notre Dame offer. "I know how much tradition is in that school and they play the best teams on their schedule. An offer would definitely be big for me."
Noah Fant, Omaha South Magnet, Weak-Side Defensive End
All of the 3 stars
That was probably facetious but I wholeheartedly believe in Gilmore. I think his track record speaks for itself. I want bodies with upside and I bet he makes the most of them. Now would I love Betiku in this class, obviously. However, that's a long shot so let's get guys we can build up. Similar to the 2014 class there are ballers that will be in this class that nobody cares about.
We need difference makers, not upside. We already have tons of potential. We need someone who can play an effective role year one. Looking more and more like 2017 might be our best shot at that, though.
I hope we hold off on taking any other commitments from development-type recruits until we've played a few games. 2012 showed what we're capable of in recruiting when we have a strong record to our advantage. If we start out 6-1 or 7-0, we should easily be able to fill out our last 7-8 spots with 4 and 5 star prospects.
Obviously that is always the case. Getting immediate contributors at every position would be best case scenario. However, very unrealistic. Also, as I've said before, very little likelihood that there are players out there that will come in and be better than our juniors at that time. The 2014 crop of DL was good and they will be taking a lot of snaps next year. Once again, unrealistic to think there are that many DL that will come in and play over them.
Riiiiight. ......
There remains some disappointment toward Notre Dame’s failure to recruit Smith Jr. more aggressively, particularly after he informed Notre Dame via former Irish teammate and current Notre Dame employee Reggie Brooks that Smith Jr. wanted to play football for Notre Dame. (The Irish had Brock Wright and Cole Kmet coming into Notre Dame a year after Smith Jr. signed with Alabama.)
“Irv’s high school coach said, ‘(Notre Dame is) just not interested,’” Smith related. “At that point, it’s just God’s will and let’s move forward. Because Notre Dame wasn’t interested, we were very blessed and fortunate he had an opportunity to go to Alabama. Everything happened the way it was supposed to happen, and we’re very happy it went that way.”
I know we've discussed Irv Jr in other threads, most likely other TE's profile threads but a profile was never built for him ( he played in the pre-NDC era)
I've often thought about starting... Those who got away &/or those who were not wanted, threads but when we talk about the Luke Keuchly's of the world, some people get snippy for some reason.
Anywho, file this under both. It was the year after Alize came to town and the year before Kmet and Wright arrived. He deserved an offer and a spot, he proved it. Worked out best for him no doubt.
From a 247 freebie yesterday on his pops. Great read:

I would love a thread like that but you are right. Some people would get snippy.

I’d like to start off the snippiness.
Irv Smith Jr. was a 6’2” 3-star tight end. You can’t really blame ND for not being interested.

This enrages me about the son of a Notre Dame tight end legend! I would understand it if the recruit was a non FBS prospect or even a non power 5 level prospect...But to not even consider the son of a Notre Dame legend makes me want to vomit.
You are being sarcastic correct?
They already had an undersized TE on the roster (Tyler Luatua).
But would he have scared off Kmet if they're both playing the athletic TE role? You guys fell for the ole... Irv Smith was a TE trick. He was as much of a TE as Tyler Eifert was. He was a 6-2/240lb slot receiver that ran in the low 4.6's. Bama had a H-Back pkg for him which he was deadly in and the only time he lined up inline was deep in the redzone as the #1 option on a quick post. Try to find some film of him inline, blocking on a running play.
He was not a TE, he was a WR. Bama knew what he was and used him perfectly. Most likely would've been wasted at ND at that time anyways.

Again don’t care. A legacy of an all time great Notre Dame player with big time power 5 offers and the staff doesn’t even talk to him and he is dying to come to Notre Dame...F that, the staff fucked up.
Crusader I know you are old enough to remember his father playing at Notre Dame and being a first round pick!

Ok, you can have your sleep overs, go to class or climb a tree Harbaugh but pulling a kid who's been committed for 2+ years this late in the cycle is bush league.
Surprised he didn't have a profile being that he had an offer.
Any other year this might be a nice late cycle addition. Basically the same body as Josh Lugg or Taylor Decker coming out of HS. Surprised his ratings aren't higher any more. Everything I've ever seen on him was high praise but he's been committed since 2013 and didn't shop around so he wasn't generating clicks for the talking heads.... which probably got him devalued. He won't be on the market long. Besides his offer from Notre Dame, he had offers from Bama, Ohio St, Va Tech, Illinios and Northwestern among others.
