Just watched yesterday's practise highlights. Man, our starting Offensive Lineman are BEASTS. They're going to straight maul people next year. Nelson especially. He just looks sooo physically dominant.

There are some updates rolling out from today's practice. Apparently Tony Jones impressed with Dexter Williams in a red shirt.

I hope Dex is OK as he's look dynamite in the film I've seen. REALLY pumped to know and see that Tony is doing great.

Can't believe the lack of discussion about that interview from Mike Sanford.

Sounds like the offense has the same explosiveness as we've had, but could be more inconsistent early. Hopefully the defense can help us during those stretches.

ND2, a chara,

I watched the interview, and all I could think of is Kelly saying if they could get both quarterbacks on the field at the same time they would. Sounds like they are working on it.

Interview was a lot about Sanford; dude can work with anyone and just as likely turn lead to gold. What a great guy!

You know more football, so after this interview, and everything else you have seen, do they use the quarterbacks to influence what options a defense takes away?

Since the quarterbacks are interchangeable, and they have slightly different skills, do they switch quarterbacks to avoid things like rotating a secondary to take away a receiver, like Clemson did with WF last year?

Because it seems to me if Kizer was having success down the field, and a team made an adjustment, rolling Zaire to the left behind Nelson, and McGlinchey may make that team un-adjust, or just plain blow coverages.

I get it, but I kinda think actually winning makes a team a giant killer, not just putting up a fight for a bit, and this team hasn't beat a ranked team under this head coach. Not one single quality win. I don't see why games played under a different coach, many years ago, have relevance to this year's team.

There are stone cold facts here:

- Their coach is about to be on a hot seat.
- The only ACC teams they beat last season (BC, Wake & Syr) were a combined 3-21.
- They lost their starting QB and heart of their team.
- They finished off their season 3-6, including a humiliating 51-28 loss to Miss St.
- After perusing their sites, all of them see their own team as a bottom dweller with a 6-7 win ceiling. They also all believe they will get beat (just like the last three seasons) by every good opponent they face. Including ND.
- This is a team that has gone 3-9, 8-5 & 7-6 with completely embarrassing non conference schedules.
- They beat Georgia Southern 24-23 last season.
- Their current coach is 0-9 against FSU, Clemson, GT and Louisville over the last three seasons.

Now, don't get me wrong, any team can surprise us (see UVA last year), but this isn't a "giant killer". You actually have to kill someone to be a killer, and their current staff hasn't done that to a single good opponent. This is a team that has played up for a couple FSU games, still lost, and have gotten pumbled by every other good opponent they have played. We should smoke this team.

I think where we disagree is how we apply "giant Killer" because I think we see them similarly...They can get up for a game or two a year, they have better athletes than the bottom dwellers in the ACC...if you have a flat performance, and they play up, they can be a handful. As I said I'm worried about ND having a turnover mess or a huge breakdown on D. Maybe giant killer isn't the right way to describe them...but they can circle a game on the schedule (FSU apparently), and give them fits.

I'm not sure where you are on how the schedule sets up or if you believe they circled ND on the schedule more so than Clemson and FSU. I see this as lining up as a trap game for ND. And I see them loading up for ND because ND is first, and they are hungry for a signature win.

I described why I think NDs schedule makes this a trap game...won't rehash.

Instead of discussing it to death...I feel pretty confident NC State will give ND fits, you feel confident they won't. Lets bet some vbucks ( I have no idea how...but I'm guessing you do). I'll take the line at game time, and give you back 50% of it....:) or if you have a better idea of how to set it up now, I'm all ears.

My biggest take away is Pete mokuwah looking good today if he can get 10-12 snaps a game
He will help this defense out a lot. You will see him most
Likely in short yardage situations

While it's positive the hear about our depth players improving as they might be needed at some point. I doubt he'll be getting 10-12 snaps/game, unless we see injuries (knock on wood). They want to rotate 4-5 guys, doubt Pete factors into that this season. Good for next, though

2012? You remember that Oklahoma game?

Yes I do, biggest win for BK since he's been at ND. I'm not saying this team can't play with this so called "swagger" I just would like to see it week in and week out. Throttle teams like we should and don't let up. Like the Oklahoma game we play at 100 MPH and next week play 45 MPH against Pitt where we should have won by 30 instead we should have lost that game. Without a conference championship I think ND needs some style points once in a while against teams we should win handily.

That's fine. You just were incredulous and asked when ND every played like that under BK. I gave you one season and one specific game where I think they for sure played with confidence and swagger.

Something of interest to me is that Bilal ran with the second team at Sam today. The reason I find that important or interesting is that I think long term, we'll be at our best getting Bilal and Coney on the field at the same time. This allows Coney to stay at Will and Bilal at Sam. With Morgan at Mike, that group will continue to get better next year, IMO.

- TE's seemingly continue to impress.
- Same goes for the young DB's. Coleman seems like he's the 3rd CB on the depth chart.
- If healthy, I really like the 2 deep at both DT spots. Big boys that move pretty well.
- Impressed by the physical look of quite a few guys. Some with fairly stark changes and some with really nice progression.

Sounds like it will be difficult to keep Kraemer off the field. At LB Kelly mentioned Bilal has some catching up to do behind Coney and Martini. He's really impressed with what Coney is doing and says Greer is just so smart and always puts himself in great position to make plays.

Sounds like Hoge is getting a hard look. My assumption would be that he might be the clubhouse leader at this point.

Not sure how you guys are saying that. Above it stated that BK said Hoge is battling the learning curve at RG. While McGovern is a steady force there. To me it seems like Colin is the club house leader, until Hoge gets up to speed if ever this year.

I saw him play last year against my brother. He had a a great game really impressed me with his speed. To me the only thing that was missing was the fact that he seemed thin but hopefully he has filled out a bit. Other than that, great athlete.

Essentially Bivin is out of the race. He's been moved back to OT and it doesn't look like he'll be playing much on Saturdays while at ND.

So who is in the lead?

I don't think anyone is in the lead according to every media outlet and BK. Hoge and McGovern are rotating days at RG with the 1's and Bivin is getting spot time.

However, I doubt they want to burn Eichenberg's redshirt if McGlinchey gets hurt, so you need to have Bivin ready to go at LT or RT.

How come Bivin got moved, when he was the club house leader after the spring?

Thought Harrell was the backup tackle and Kramer as a possibility as backup tackle.

Bilal was moved when they were working on their odd front nickel package. He was back at the weak-side with the first-team for the base defense.
