Lmao! Glad to see Hayes is practicing with an edge but I can only imagine how Kelly reacted to that.

Of our TEs, he's the most similar to Aliz'e, so if Kelly is determined to run lots of 12 personnel, he'll probably have opportunities this year. But I kinda doubt that Kelly is going to force the downfield TE thing if we have better pass-catchers available. In other words, Weishar would probably have to be a better receiver than Smythe, St. Brown and Boykin to see much of the field this year.

Well he most likely is. He had more receptions in high school than those 3 combined.

He could be the break out player like someone above pointed out bit will Kelly use the TE's is the question.

That's what I've been hoping for, but he seemed lost in the shuffle after Aliz'e jumped on board. Perhaps that's how Kelly plans on fast-tracking the offense early without relying on a young and inconsistent corps of WRs. Between Smythe, Weishar and Luatua, our 12 and 13 personnel sets could be nasty. #GoHeavy

Tons of huge news from Kelly today across the board that has boosted my confidence in this team. We have very solid exciting set starters and we have intriguing battles with depth all over the place. My biggest 'like' from what I've read today is the play of Max Redfield. I think our D is gonna be for real this year. Saw some photos from practise and Tranquill looks absolutely jacked and crazy conditioned.
Go Irish.

Adams out, Dexter gets praised. Alize out, a TE gets praised. Classic and predictable sunshine.

2015:

Bryant out, Procise gets praised...

Folston out, Adams gets praised...

Zaire out, Kizer gets praised...

I think the fair thing to say is that you can't read too much into it at this point, but I don't think its necessarily just sunshine.

Or this thing called depth. Good teams tend to have it.

This. Our depth is seriously solid this year all over the place. As good as I've seen it in a long time. QUALITY depth. Dexter DOES look good. Weishar DOES look good. Injuries or not. I'm sick of the down talk. I get it but I'm sick of it

Sure and I get it BUT Procice did tear it up and get drafted by the Seahawks. Adams killed it last year and set records. Kizer came in and was one of the best QB's in the country. Our depth is great cause we recruit well. We are ND

Obviously that is the logical answer considering both were highly recruited guys but we do need to understand something very important here, that doesn't play into Koon's philosophy that ND is cursed. Therefore, it can't possibly be true. Sorry just the way it is.

That was the point of DN's post.

I was agreeing with you! I was giving examples where the praise was warranted.

I also like how the podcasts say after watching practice, Wieshar/Smythe couldn't get open if Hiestand was covering them, but apparently Weishar is looking good according to BK.

I have a feeling Brandon Tiassum will be 'doing some good things' in the next week or so.

Thank you guys for the neg reps, you are all great people.

DEPTH.... Dexter has caught the eyes of many already! It's not just coach speak. Kid can Ball

No negative reps from me, but I've heard multiple sources report that none of the TEs have that elite athleticism, not that they can't be productive and haven't improved.

Mike Frank pointed out that there is no one like Tyler Eifert. If I had been on Power Hour I would remind Mike that none of our TEs--not Carlson, not Niklas, not Rudolph--had Eifert's athletic ability. He sticks out even in the NFL.

I think Weishar can possibly be to Alize what Hunter, Jr. could be to Fuller.

I do buy the Dexter Williams praise, I think he'll be a better RB than Adams if he gets the chance.

Well, Rochell did single him out for how much harder he is working and how he's been making great strides. But again, can't possibly be true.

Food for thought, today is the 6th day of practice and only portions of 2 of those days, have been viewed by the public. So there is a lot going on that Mike Frank, Driskell, etc. are not seeing.

After Day 1, the only other practice the media has seen, everyone reported right after the TEs had an impressive day. With Weishar making the play of the day.

So anything said later in a podcast is probably more bold statements with no evidence if it's the podcast I'd expect.

Yea, if I remember correctly I believe Power Hour praised Luatua for how much more athletic/agile he looked.

If Eifert-level athleticism is the bar, few (Alize Jones maybe) are ever going to clear it. But that doesn't mean we can't have more productivity out of the tight end spot than we have the last couple of years. If Weishar develops into a guy who can make some catches in tight spaces that'd be just fine.

Neither Ertz nor Fleener had Eifert's athleticism either, but they both produced big time for Stanford and were early round draft picks.

Exactly. I think Weishar is going to be a good stretch TE, Smyth is a good all-around guy, and Luatua and Matsuka can kick some butt and catch a few.
