Huge huge huge win. Just beat the number 6 team in the committees eyes.
Bonzie please keep this dominance up.
To beat fl st in rebounding is just ridiculous

Ol' NorthDakota was looking forward to this game, accidentally scheduled a date for the same time.

Date went well, but looks like the game went better.

7/10 regret my decision

Who knew Vasturia had hops like that? That might have been their most complete game of the season, definitely the best performance in ACC play. Florida State is huge and I know they went smaller to match ND, but being able to beat them on the boards is a great sign. Student section/crowd was great. The Tomahawk Chop at the end of the game was a nice touch by the students. All in all I picked a good game to go to for my first basketball game at ND. :)

Yup you definatly chose a good one. My first bball game was when they took down West Virginia at home. That was an awesome first game too.

We now have the number 1 SOS in conference in the country and 9 wins against the top 100
Also 25 RPI and 23 overall SOS

Mine was ND vs Syracuse 2008 when Kyle Mcalarney hit 9 3s. That 2008 team with him and Harangody was so fun to watch. Should have went farther then than the 2nd round of the tournament.

Bonzie is so much better than I'd ever thought he'd be. 33 and 13 against that lengthy FSU is one of the most incredible performances i've seen since watching ND. Definitely our MVP this year.

I was at the game last night and I hope that Colson gets some serious contention for the Wooden award. He is putting up good numbers in the best league in college basketball. I agree this was the most complete team win of the season. If ND can play like they did last night every game they would be tough to beat.

Good day for ND football's junior day. Great weather for South Bend, sellout game, and the atmosphere yesterday was awesome.

That's hard to believe. F$U is good, but number6?!?! Seems a few spots too high, IMO.

The FSU win was huge for a variety of reasons, all of which have been mentioned. I do think ND played the best game since Nova while FSU played rather lethargic, which some credit goes to ND for that. Couple of follow up stats to the trends I have already been mentioning...

1 - ND Three point rate for the game was 37.3%, which was below the season average and brought down the average for the last three games to 43.1%. While the attention will go straight to Bonzie, it was really the effort of SV, Rex and to a small degree, VJ that flipped this around. If going small allows them to get into the paint more, ND offense will be much better off.

2 - Gibbs gets to FT line with consistency and I love it. Brey needs a guy that will drive and try to finish first, pass second and Gibbs is the man for that.

3 - Rebounding was solid, but that was aided by FT's (ND got six from what I counted) and FSU trying to match ND by going small.

4 - ND did not reverse the trend of allowing extra scoring chances per game. The stat is a good stat and measures team effectiveness on the boards and TO's. The calculation is [Offensive Rebounds + Opponent Turnovers – Opponent Offensive Rebounds – Turnovers]. For FSU, ND was -7 and is -6.3 during the last three games. If this doesn't change, there is a decent chance of getting upset in the coming weeks if a team shoots really well or ND is ice cold.

Looking forward, if ND plays out the string with only one loss, I think a 6 seed is probably in the cards, though it could be a 7. I like 6 the best as I think there is a large drop off nationally after you get past the top 8.

Computer numbers of note through today:

ACC Standings:

1) UNC 9-3
2) FSU 9-4
3) Duke 8-4
4) Louisville 8-4
5) Virginia 8-4
6) Notre Dame 8-5
7) Syracuse 8-5

Considering our poor tiebreaker position, it looks like 5-0 down the stretch is what we would need to finish in the top four and get the double-bye to the Quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.

2/14 at Boston College
2/18 at NC State
2/26 vs Georgia Tech
3/1 vs Boston College
3/4 at Louisville

Either way, some scenario where we can matchup with Syracuse in the Quarterfinals would be perfect. We're probably an underdog at a neutral site against the other five teams...

So basically we're a 6 seed that probably has a ceiling of a 4 if we go 4-1 down the stretch and make ACC finals. And we have a floor around a 9 seed if we go 3-2 down the stretch with an early exit in ACC tournament.

I would agree. Looking at the schedules of everyone else, they should come back a game or two to us, but we're just so down on tie-breakers.

I'm guessing the winner of the Louisville game gets the last double bye (if we were to hold serve and not lose one of the other 4, which would could totally do).

Agreed that the winner would get a top-4. We're lucking out with NC State seemingly throwing in the towel. They are a mess right now. Hoping that plus the 8-day break before the next game will let us empty the tank for the road win at NC State. I think we win the other 3 comfortably before Louisville.

I agree for the most part since the top guys still have to all play eachother at least one more time and Virginia has to still play duke fl st and UNC so there is a lot of wigfle room left. We are only down 1 game not including tie breakers. We go 4-0 then next 4 games then we will eaisly be in the thick of things

If we go 4-0, I could see a scenario where that final Louisville game could result in a swing from the 1 seed with a win to a 5 or 6 seed with a loss. I feel good about going 4-0.

Exactly anything can happen. Cuse could beat Louisville tonight and then we are 5th place well assuming we beat BC tuesday

Who is that chick with the great rack behind KUs bench? I see her there all the time and is always in fantastically revealing clothes.

Great fun watching this team play-wish the football team could find the combination like the basketball squad. Different sport yes but they have unlocked the combo on how to mix success with the college life experience. Football team must go against too many semi pros on too large a scale.

May I introduce you to Tobacco Road? I mean - UNC is as pro athlete as they come and Duke gets national pick of the litter.

I love Colson and how he plays bigger than he is, but I don't see him getting serious consideration. Swanigan from Purdue is one of the favorites at this point in time. Not sure who else is in the discussion.

Finally a game where we should be able to kick back to and remain comfortable with the entire game. Hope to see a little bit of John Mooney tonight.

Colson and swanigan had the same odds before last week to win the wooden award. This past week might push colson even higher.

I would really like to see Mooney and burns play a lot tonight. No game in the ACC is easy on the road so we cant over look then even tho they have lost 9 in a row
