Diaco has nothing to do with an OT getting an offer in Texas or a WR in VA being offered. We're playing this Diaco thing out a little. He had absolutely zero to do with offensive recruiting so this wave of 2016 offers is probably BK realizing that they need to speed up the process.

Oh I agree 100% on that, but Greg Little is #1 recruit for 2016 so they'd be stupid not to offer him ASAP. I've just noticed that a shit ton of DT offers have been going out and a whole bunch of offers for defensive players in general, which has a lot to do with BVG being the defensive coordinator IMO.

For 2016 offensive players, I don't see anything too different than usual.

I don't want to get into too much of a back and forth here but your intial comment about Diaco was in reference to why are so many 2016 offers going out. The whole staff is making 2016 a priority. Offense and defense alike. Do you honestly believe that if Diaco were here we'd be offering all these offensive players for 2016 and nobody on defense? We've offered 11 offensive players and 8 defensive. So, BVG must be slipping? BK has always been later to offer for offense as well. This is a shift coming from the top.

I should've said for defense only. I don't think BVG is slipping, but I do think that if Diaco was here there would not be 8 offers out for 2016 defensive players (maybe 4 or 5).

As we all know, Diaco was extremely picky with who got an offer. BVG casts a wider net out for recruits and I really like that about him.

@AnnaHScout: 10 recruiting predictions for Notre Dame in 2015, plus a very early projected regular season finish ($) Scout.com: Monday Recruiting Insider

She makes predictions for the year:
- ND signs 2 RB, no idea who.
- Bilal signs with ND.
- BVG will be a recruiting closer come years end.
- Cornell and Hilliard sign with ND.
- Having Barnett will pay dividends.
- ND isn't done in Texas this year.
- Another Cali recruit will pick ND.
- ND finishes 11-1 this year (Whew)
- Top 5 class
- ND will take 19, maybe more

Some interesting predictions, but if she's saying we will have a top 5 class with only 19-20 commits, she hasn't thought all of these predictions through. The team rankings are as much about quantity as they are about quality. Bigger classes get more points and trump smaller classes with higher rated players. We would need three to four 5-stars in order to come close to a top 5 class with only 19-20 total signees. Possible, yes. Likely, I'm afraid not.

As for her other predictions, I like 'em. I'll have what she's having.

I thought most rankings were based on your top ____ recruits. I don't remember the exact number...

FWIW, this is how Scout does it: How does Scout come up with the player rankings?

Team Rankings

Team Rankings are a math formula that based on a player's rating and his rankings. 5-Star is a rating, No. 1 quarterback is his ranking.

5 Star = 200 points
4 Star = 120 points
3 Star = 40 points
2 Star = 20 points

The No. 1 player at a position is worth 100 points, counting down to the last ranked player at his position to 0.

For Example, assuming Scout ranks 100 quarterbacks.

5-Star, No. 1 QB = 300 points
4-Star, No. 10 QB = 210 points
3-Star, No. 50 QB = 90 points
2-Star, No. 75 QB = 45 points

The Team Rankings are compiled of the Top 25 players per class. Some teams will over-sign, but only 25 count towards the Team Rankings.

Yes, you're right. My mistake.

I still think it would be tough to approach a top 5 ranking with only 19-20 recruits unless we had three to four 5-stars. Anna is clearly more optimistic than I that we will land three to four 5-stars than I am.

did she mention who she thinks barnett will help with?

does she mention who the cali/texas kids are most likely to be?

If she believes we land Cornell and Hilliard then by season's end we could have three 5-stars already assuming Blake can get his fifth. It's not out of the realm of possibility that we land a top 5 class if we get both of those guys on board. I'll wait and see a bit longer before I drink the kool-aid, but I think I like the thinking!

For he first bold part, no not anyone in particular. She said that with getting Barnett on board early, the staff can sell that to their wide receiver and tight end prospects.

For the second bold part, she said Jaylon Lane, Ryan Newsome, James Locke, Josh Butler, ESB, Cordell Broadus, Dechaun Holiday, Isaiah Langley, Lucier-South, John Houston, and Rasheem Green are all legit prospects.

She also expects Notre Dame to make Darrin Kirkland's top ten

Random bump, but I saw LaFleur at my school today. Unfortunately I didn't get to see who he was talking to because I our schedule at school today was kind of off. I guess if I had to guess the most likely option would be our QB, Alex Malzone, who is staring to get a lot of interest from scUM. Here is his 247 profile along with the two other kids I think might have been who he was seeing.

Alex Malzone

Grant Perry

Jack Dunaway

Just thought it was cool he was here, wasn't able to talk to him unfortunately because he was in our main office talking to our secretary.
