I know this has prolly been covered, but It's laughable that FSU is ahead of us in the Coaches Poll. Just laughable.
Absolutely. We'll always be underrated in the coaches poll because of the resentment out there over us not being in a conference.I know this has prolly been covered, but It's laughable that FSU is ahead of us in the Coaches Poll. Just laughable.
TCU should drop because of their body of work to-date. They were overrated coming into the week and will still be overrated when the new polls come out.Last week they were tied at 3 with MISS who struggled with unranked Vandy. BUT Vandy is an SEC team and TT isn't. TCU drops to 4th.

While I agree with you on this, the same can be said for Ohio State yet it seems they will never drop unless they get beat. They can squeak by inferior opponents and stay at number one.
Why? All 4 teams we beat have 3 losses except for GTECH with 2. Boston College is 3-1 and Florida St. shut them out in Boston.
Not saying FSU should be ahead of us, but it surely isn't laughable.
It IS laughable. We're a better team. We have four FBS victories under our belt to their two. And everyone will say how good BC is until...you know...ND beats them. How hard is it to beat Texas State and USF?

Actually they have 3 FBS victories. Texas State is in the Sun Belt. FSU had a bye this week. In other words, they have played an FBS team every week they played.
USF is no worse than UVA.
Texas St. is no worse than UMass
FSU has a more impressive road win while we have a more impressive home win. It remains to be seen if Georgia Tech or BC is better but again, it's not "laughable."
USF.... I am leaving that one alone. But seriously our SOS sucked pre season and it's only getting worse so far.
Any bragging rights we had from beating GT is out the window after they got handled by Duke. We don't get extra credit because you THINK they'll bounce back later in the season. If they do, our SOS will recover. But until then, we're 4-0 with wins against four mediocre to bad to very bad teams.Fair. I'll amend it by saying, we have more wins over P5 teams. Our THREE to FSU's ONE. Better? We DOMINATED a game that we were a dog in against a RANKED GT. Yes, laughable that we're behind them.
UT may be worse than expected, but I think GTech will bounce back after their hangover game this week. We still have Clemson, SC, and Stanford coming up. Plus Temple and BC are looking good record-wise so far. Not worried about our SoS.

The hype machine muddied the waters. GT is not nearly as potent as we thought.

As bad as our SOS will be, the Big 12 champion's will be worse. Nobody in college football looks unbeatable this year and there might be some two loss champions too.UVA sucks, GT is worse than expected, Clemson is way overated. I would not surprised that they "Clemson" against us. I think USC is probably our biggest challenge moving forward. After our bye week our SOS will be pathetic. So for battling for a playoff spot it is very concerning for me. Particularly if the Playoff Committee is using FPI or such.

Welp, we just jumped FSU in the Coaches Poll. What now, biznotches?!!? lol I keed I keed
(P.S. so did LSU: NCAA Football - Amway Coaches Poll | USA Today Sports )
My formula for pre-mid October polls is:
Three SEC teams
Ohio St, TCU, Baylor based on last year and their schedules so far
The best Pac 12 and ACC teams
With two openings left then, I include ND and Mich St
Texas could be 3-1 right now with very decent wins over good Cal and Oklahoma State teams... instead they shanked an extra point and got hosed by refs. So that's a shame. Georgia Tech and Virginia, by cotnrast, are showing nothing but garbage.
Our season comes down to beating three tough teams (Clemson, USC, Stanford) and then holding serve against teams we are flat out better than. This Clemson game is going to tell us a lot about how we defend an offense with a skilled QB and skilled playmakers, and how we run the ball against a team we can't just out-class in the trenches. I'm skeptical this ends well for ND, but at the same time I'm not a big believer in Clemson.
Irish Nation... hook your wagons to my Tide this week. You really need us to beat them Ga Bulldogs. Can I get a Roll Tide?
