Worth noting that Iowa's two best wins are at Northwestern (#23, a blowout) and Wisconsin (#24). They also beat Pitt.

That's pretty comparable to ND's biggest two wins by the rankings (#21 and #22).

ND is a better team to be sure. Just pointing out where things currently stand for my second favorite team.

Very likely up to 6 maybe 7 ND opponents are ranked by the years end.

As opposed to maybe 3 for Iowa.

That's where they differ.

How many college teams do you root for Jayhawks? ;) j/k I get it.

OK Rockchalk, I'm confused which is your second favorite team, ND, KU, or NW?

True enough. But the Iowa schedule isn't quite as bad as some think.

I'm confused as to why navy stayed put and miss st jumped up a bunch of spots ahead of them when they beat a crappy Missouri team?

Navy stayed put? Check the polls.

They weren't in the Top 25 in either poll last week.

Navy moved up 15 slots in the AP according to the poll table at CBSSports.com while MSST moved up 4.

BTW, these polls are useless once the poll committee begins.

They didn't follow suit last week, this week they're closer.

Now we know what the Amway and Coaches poll sees (in their wildly changing 'guesstimations'); the ass end of the Alpha dog, the committee's poll results!

BC S. E. C.

Yup. While Navy did move into the Top 25, they should get a lot more love. I wasn't giving them enough credit back in October as a decent opponent, yet here they are at 7-1 with their lone loss being to us. I imagine Navy will be favored in their remaining games too, aside from Houston (Who I think they can beat).

That's why Oklahoma State jumped as high as they did. That's also why Fla was ranked 10th in the first committee poll even though their metric's was better than most of the one loss teams in front of them.

ess ee see

note: I agreed with where the committee had Fla at 10. They aren't the same team with Harris as their QB. I do believe if their other QB hadn't been popped, they would have came in around 7 in the first poll. Now, they are probably considered at the bottom of the one loss teams.. as they should be IMO.

My bad, I skimmed through the polls and saw that Navy didn't have any movement from the previous week without realizing that it just meant they were outside the top 25 last week

SEC standings

SEC standings

I would expect Mississippi (#18) and A&M (#19) to drop from the Playoff top 25 standings.

That leaves Alabama, LSU, Florida and Mississippi State (#20) in the Playoff's Top 25. With a loss to Alabama this weekend, that should drop Mississippi State from the rankings and leaving only three SEC teams with less than three losses.

It will be interesting to see how the Committee evaluates Florida's last minute win over Vandy. They could drop behind all the other one loss teams except Temple. LSU might not drop too far, ranking ahead of Michigan State and TCU.

I doubt Alabama looks on Florida as much of a challenge.

You guys know the polls better than me but I'd rather see Clemson win out ensure we do make it in we go 11-1

Also would be happy to be #4 and meet Clemson as confident we beat them even at their place

For me I think a Clemson defeat puts at risk our chance of entry at 11-1

Number FOUR, baby!

Michigan beat OSU and Iowa

Sanford win'em till you play the IRISH!

Big 12, have at it!

FSU beat Florida!

Question, would a one loss Oklahoma get in over ND? Since there is no Big12 Championship, would Texas be Irish insurance?

Toughest Schedule In The Nation

Toughest Schedule In The Nation

Ever since the '15 Schedule was released some fans here have lamented how soft ND's schedule was and that there was no way ND would be considered for the Playoffs due to the schedule. Some have continued that lament throughout the season.

It's not just the W's and L's but who they play. The Playoff committee realizes this and takes it into consideration when ranking teams even though most pollsters don't take the time to look and see how teams stack up based upon the competition.

Not on;ly is ND's Schedule #1 but ND opponents fill 3 of the 4 remaining Top 5 Slots. 5 opponents' schedules are in the Top 10 Toughest. 6 In the Top 25. 10 in the Top 50.

The Tough Schedules of our oppponents partially explain the scarity of wins among Wake, GT, TX and BC. Interestingly 2 of the opponents with the best records make it into the Top 80.

Check some of the other high ranked teams in the polls that play substantially softer schedules.

Last Week ND was 6th in both AP and Coaches Polls.

Last Week ND was 6th in both AP and Coaches Polls.

This week ND might move up a slot or get passed by Iowa.

(Last Week's rankings)
#1 Clemson won close but stay put.
#2 OSU did what they done all season
#3 Bama "Impressive" beating #18 MSST
#4 Baylor lost and takes a dive.
#5 OKS won close but they'll move to 4th.
#6 ND didn't cover but the outcome was never in doubt. ND was up 21-0 and should move a slot despite lowest offensive output of the season.
#7 Stanford lost on a 2 pt try but will drop into mid teens.
#8 Iowa won close over MIN and moves behind or in front of ND.
#9 LSU got beaten in Death Valley by Arky and drops to mid teens.
#10 Utah got upset by AZ and plugnes into the teens.
#11 UF moves ahead of BU, SU, LSU, and UT.
#12 OU gets "The Leap Of The Week" for being The Fraud. Could pass IA and ND via the former BU voters.
#13 TCU squeaked by KU. They should drop on their own merits but too many higher ranked teams lost ahead of them but they won't move up 4 slots getting jumped.
#14 MSU beat MD but lost QB Cook. Move up a couple with all the losers.
#15 MI won in 2OT over IU. IU in 2OT. Should get passed.
#16 Houston slept for most of the game and Mem was wide right giving the Coogs a win. They'll move up a couple slots in the crowded teens.
#17 UNC is the hot team in the media. They'll get promoted to around 12
#18 UCLA dropping out.
#19 FSU beat NCS Golson benched. Noles move up a slot or two.
#20 MSST buzzed by Bama. Goodbye.
#21 Temple loss #2. Goodbye
#22 Navy QB set a new career TD record. Mids crack the Top 20.
#23 WIS won over BYE. Moves up to replace UCLA, MSST, and TEM.
#24 NW only beat PU on a 4Q TD for 7 pt win but benefit from UCLA, MSST, TEM dropping out.
#25 Memphis blew a win and drop out.

Movin' In
USC #1 in PAC 12 South.
MISS had a BYE while others were dropping out.
A&M beat up Western Carolina which will impress the voters
